Not What You Expect, But Delicious
Truth is I had a plan for an entirely different blog post today. Then, I was working on a slideshow for a client tonight. I threw out a question …
What are the first three tools any Twitter user should adopt?
The answers were so awesome I decided to change my plan and share the answers with you instead.
The three tools suggest for any new twitter user are:
- @Silver_Craig said: a hammer, a crowbar, and a shotgun.

- @vanillacokehead said: 1st, a personal set of rules of engagement for using Twitter. 2nd, an open mind. 3rd, a good Twitter client like TweetDeck

The point is that we all have our own way of looking at this social tool and our own way of using it.
Kind of like we have our own way of making use of paper and pencil … it’s all in the messages and connections that come through what you do with it.

I was thinking the exact same about the “25 Words” presentation, Liz. It was really striking how the responses ranged from the abstract to the concrete, the poetic to the grounded. So many experiences informing what came to be those words.
I think one of the most subversive aspects of social media is the way that it makes room for everyone (well, except maybe spammers. LOL) — every voice, every experience, every learning and teaching style. So different from what so many of us are used to and have been taught over the years!

I noticed someone mentioned Twitpic, which I love! But now that I can do Flickr2Twitter, I’ve been uploading mobile pics to my Flickr account more.

Tweetie (Mobile), Tweetdeck (Desktop), dailyrt.com (Web)
The first two are obvious and the last lets me keep up with popular tweets without having to follow lots of people I really don’t care about.

#1 is hilarious! There are some apps on here I haven’t heard of yet. Thanks! I like Twitterrific for my iPhone. Great post.

Another question, of course, would be “What 3 tools do you want to adopt that don’t exist yet?”

Hi Mary-Lynn,
Isn’t it amazing how pictures have so become part of what we do daily. We upload pictures faster than we could take them a decade ago.

I don’t know that last one. But you can bet that I’ll be checking it out.
