Liz, at the top of my list are the projects I’m working on which have priority. After they give way (looks like next week) others will come into play, like, getting it all together in one, streamlined package. That’s a biggie.

Too much work is a biggie for me too. Streamlining is a good one. Thanks for that, Cat.

    Great to see you!

    Liz,

As you know, Darren from ProBlogger had a blogging goals project several weeks back that set me to getting my goals together for a new venture.

    http://www.designers-who-blog.com/index.php/blogging-projects/team-blogging-goals/

Although I have yet to check off #1, I’ve been working steadily researching and collecting urls to guide us along the way. I’ve also shaped out the blog design, then rearranged it again and again, with the solid reasons why.

And just this morning I started reading through your writing section and came across a tip that will help me put it all together. MindMapping.

    http://www.successful-blog.com/1/61-ways-to-compelling-elegant-blog-posts/#more-626

I have several Mindmapping books, but the software advised will go a long way to being able to share such a diverse amount of information with my team.

    Freemind: http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

    So again, thanks :-)

PS: good to see you too. It’s nice to be back in Bangkok as, even though I miss my friends in Brunei, I ‘fit’ here … although the photos I took are fabulous! (The scenery, not my photography skills)

Time and Money .. both equally interlinked for me. I just don’t have the time to do what I want, because I’m too busy out there taking care of business and making money .. I know if I had more time doing this, I would do a lot better. Also, if I had more time doing the other (and none of this) I’d also probably be doing better. Fortunately I’m making enough to keep my banker (who holds my mortgage) happy. And I seem to keep trying to do the other thing .. and it’s still an interesting hobby for me.

I envy those going full-time blogging .. before their time .. (you know who you are - pat yourself on the back)

    Hey, Cat,
I have piece in my head on using all of the prewriting techniques to get things started. Hang around a while I think you’ll like it.

Glad the blog is helping you streamline a few things anyway.

    Hi HART,
The time would be the money, as always. One feeds the other. I could use more time in the right places, too. I think that might be what Cat was talking about when she brought up streamlinging — time put to use in the right places.

I’ll keep you posted. You just keep me involved in those G&Ts in the meantime. :)

Liz, will do on the G&T’s … I’m back in Bangkok at the moment (arrived last night), where, although having never been colonized, the G&T’s still apply. And at 7.51pm, it’s G&T time so … salute :-)

    Hi (never commented before)
It’s something that bugs me a lot. I’m not confident in the integrity of my software, specifically the install (MT). I’m afraid to test the limits and worry it may crash with a lot of traffic. I installed it myself. If I had to do it over again, I’d pay to have it done. I get a lot of errors on rebuild so I avoid it. I’d like to hire somebody to check my install (and hopefully correct it if needed) but don’t know where to find somebody. If I were confident in the infrastructure, I’d persue advertisers and add more features that I know would be popular. I’d also advertise the blog in the trade press (apparel industry; fashion designers read my blog). While I want growth and the income it can generate, I worry about it stressing the system. I’m getting about 2,500-3,000 visitors a day now. If it wouldn’t be adverse to someone contacting me if they can help (for pay of course). If this is a faux pas, I’m sorry (really).

    Kathleen,
No worries. I asked the question. You answered. We’re going to find you the help that you need. I think I know just the person. ;)

Never worry about commenting here. If you’re in good faith you’ll be taken that way always. You’re only a stranger once. Now you’re a friend.

Chicago, I’ve only ever been to the airport on my way somewhere. Hope you got to get out and enjoy your beautiful weather!

Another road block would be knowledge and experience. I’d say they would be back to back with clearing my desk of work before I can get all the bits together.

I’ve only ever played around with blogging, so blogging seriously will be a different ball game. A totally different mindset. I imagine at first (as a team) we won’t have the rhythm down. And I’m not sure how many months it takes to settle into something that works well for both team and viewers.

So I guess it would be time and knowledge (which comes with experience).

Hey, for the first time I’m getting excited about my new adventure :-D

    Hi Cat,
Knowledge and experience . . . I’ve got a share of those to spend, but not the money to put them to use where I want to. :) So I have to get new knowledge and experience to get new money. :)
