I say favorite, because his writing is filled with such enthusiasm, I have no doubt that he could give you another ten, if you asked him. He also lets us in on a secret that–he’s developing a new plugin for it. Keith uses several plugins already–for Sidebar, Scratchpad, and Del.icio.us. He also uses a filter to keep his RSS feeds right there. If you’re thinking of using Google Desktop, Keith is the fellow you want to know. Click the screenshot to read about what he’s been doing with it. I’m sure that he’d help you, if you want to do some of the same things.
Thanks, Keith.

I am a little concerned with the information Google may get from Google Desktop. Is anyone else concerned about this?

Hi and Welcome,
I suppose I was concerned for a moment. Then my thinking went like this. Google already has the information. Google knows who comes to my blog. They know how long a reader stays here, where that reader was before and goes after. Google knows who clicks my ads and where those folks were too.
Google knows where I search and keeps data on that–the data comes from toolbars, search results, cookies, ads responses and who knows what else.
Other companies, such as BuzzMetrics are reading over my shoulder as I write this comment and reporting back to interested clients what you and I are talking about–complete with demographics.
Our telephones and our cars are packed with GPS and each it’s harder to turn that off.
Google might as well know what little more it can find out. It already knows plenty–so it seems does everyone else.
These days the only real privacy is in your house and in your head . . . I can’t guarantee the first and you hold the keys to the second.
But what do I share on the web that I wouldn’t want the world to know? Absolutely nothing. I make sure of that.

Hey Liz,
I do agree with this, Google does take some privacy out of what you do and what you surf, but still when you do install their software they have a clear cut option where you can either throw out your privacy or just ignore them.
Without google though most of the sites would go unnoticed, if you disagree then you have total rights to retain your privacy, though i have seen 90% of the people throw out privacy out of the window with google even those who write huge articles about the privacy issue with google.
I use google personalized and yes it helps me a lot with all the searches i do, so even if i jump from one box to another i still know what i was trying to search 10 days ago. So a little bit of privacy leak is permitted by me to them as it helps me a bit more.
BTW Thanks for the exposure to your SOB Liz.

Hi Keith,
Thank you for bringing that up. I use Google Mail and Google Talk and they have the same options. I chose as you did for the same reasons. Sometimes I forget to mention what’s so long ago in my thinking.
That’s why we need lots of voices in the conversation. One person can’t remember everything. At least, I sure can’t.
PS You’re welcome.
