   Liz, I’ve often had the same thought! I’m always amazed when receiving spam in foreign alphabets. Like, what am I expected to do with those? There has to be a way to get paid for receiving spam! A brainstorming session with a few bottles of wine might inspire a strategy. What do you think?

   I think Askimet is marketing to bloggers. We’re the ones who skim the “spam ads” to see whether they’re are any false positives.

   I’m working too hard, but enjoying it more. :)

    Wowie. Maybe it’s a good thing I’m not quite as popular as you ;)

    Have you ever considered adding some code to your site to completely eliminate bot spam, Liz? It won’t even be able to come through to Akismet. It’s really incredible. It’s just some code in a few key places to make fake fields that bots see. There’s not a single risk of legit comments going out the window with this one! And best of all, it’s not another plugin to bog down your server. If those fake fields are filled in, the spam is immediately rejected.     I set this up a while ago and haven’t seen a single bot spam come through. The only things that Akismet catches any more are the splog pingbacks and legit comments that just have too many links. Of course it’s easy to go through your moderation tasks when there’s only like 2 things in there; and that’s on a bad day!
