Fun Find: Instant Blog Post Generator

ME Liz Strauss wrote this at 4:37 pm

And this from a site called Flooble:

You know how sometimes you feel like you haven’t posted anything to your blog for a while, and you should really get around to doing it, but there’s nothing to really write about? We’ve all been there. That’s why we at flooble have decided to give you an Instant Blog Post Generator.

Now you can have a ready-to-post entry for your blog with just one click of a button. Our system is random enough that there’s thousands of variations to the post that it can generate, so if you don’t like how it came out, you can simply keep clicking until the generator comes up with something you find acceptable.

Instant Blog Post Generator

Be careful, if you go playing around on this site, there are plenty of pop-ups and pop-unders for you to play with as well. Still there is fun to be had for a minute or two.

Remember quality is king, but fun is fun.

Quality is much more important than Quantity if you are producing a “serious” blog.

It is extremely important that we realize (and communicate to others) that blogging is a medium and not a homogeneous genre.

Just as Television is a single medium using different kinds of programming (e.g. Sports, Sit-coms, News, Music, Movies, Documentaries, Talk Shows etc.) so also blogging is a single medium with multiples kinds of purposes. Some blogs may be Journals, some showcases (such as photography), some may be political and others may be scholarly, while others may offer advice on a certain topic. Blogging is a medium not a genre.

There are frivolous blogs in which quality is irrelevant. And that is fine, because the author is not intending to be seen as a producer of quality.

But other blogs are intended to show the expertise of the author - and in such blogging, it is better to focus on Quality.

I started the Become Unforgettable blog in January of this year and have only posted 31 articles or a little less than 3 per month on the average (some months much less) and yet at least 25 of those articles are very substantial. Although this may not cause me to make the Feedster 500, that is not my purpose.

When bloggers produce vapid verbage due to feeling enslaved to a schedule, they neither benefit their audience nor themselves.

I totally agree with you. Content is, always was, and always weill be king.

I’m not actually promoting using this. It’s Friday and this entry is tagged FUN. It’s okay to play once in a while too.

    Liz,

I was not intending my comment to be a criticism of your “Generator” post. It was intended as an agreement comment to the last sentence of that post.

Sorry it is my fault that I failed to indicate that I was just commenting on that last sentence.

My oh my, this sounds like the perfect scam site tool. You know, those zombie sites that exist only to feed links to and clicks to other sites.

I’m a published author, versed in creating new material each day for my blog and pending book, so such a product isn’t right for me.

However, I understand why some people are drawn to this product.

Attorneys and accountants don’t create their own newsletters. That’s not their expertise. Instead, they outsource the task to companies that specialize in such products sent monthly to clients either online or by mail. Instant Post Blog Generator is the same concept.

    Shirley,
Congratulations on your book. You’ll have to tell me about it. Coming from the world of publishing I know how much work and talent that takes. :)

I don’t think anyone would want to use this blog generator though. It’s really just a silly toy I put out for Friday fun. Sorry if it mislead you. :(

    Hi Liz,

Thanks so much for letting me know the real purpose of this site.

I’m so deep into writing that I’m didn’t research the site enough to realize it’s a fun thing. No apology necessary, and as the kids say, “My bad.”

This reminds me of the “instant post generator for LJ”–basically the same, but with added drama/emo/wangst. Of course it’s supposed to be fun. Who in their rights mind would want to use that to fill their blogs, save for a short moment of laughter? ;)

    Hi Shirley,
Gosh, no problem. I know what it’s like to be so piled with paper to read something quickly and misinterpret what I see. In fact, I tell people that *if* I die and someone wants to have a memorial, no paper please, because sure that it will be paper that killed me and that besides that all of my friends will either be looking for bad design or typos. :)

How nice to see you here!
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the comment. I’ve peeked in at your blog a few times lately, but am guilty of being a lurker. :( I’ll leave a comment next time I promise.

This is new…that instant post generator. I had not heard of that before. I guess if you were really having a writer’s block, it would do in that emergency. I could not see using it very often. Quality is better than quantity in my book. There are some interesting things here. Will have to come back and read some of the old posts. On my way out the door right now! :)

Oh don’t take it seriously. It from flooble. It’s a toy to play with. Do come back though there’s lots of good things that are serious and worthy of your time.
    I’m delighted that you came.
