Make Something Good Happen, Make Tuesday an Important Day
ME Liz Strauss wrote this at 7:21 am
Tuesdays Aren’t for Staying in One Place
When I worked in an office, Tuesday got to be “a nothing day.” Everyone wanted to hit the ground running on Monday. We’d get our details and thoughts together before we reported back in. So Tuesdays became meeting days when we talked about what we were doing and as a result not much got done.
Now I work online. I visit social sites and I see that the “Tuesday feeling” happening every day of the week. Conversations about what we’re doing are so inviting that we can get swept into talking our day away without doing a thing.
It’s an easy way to get stuck in one place — in that Tuesday feeling — always talking and dreaming, but not doing. We become like talking plants, rather than people.
Plants, and flowers, and trees have roots that keep them stationary. People have feet that can walk, minds that can think, hands that can make new things. It doesn’t take much to move things forward. All it takes is the effort to make one positive move.
Make a comment, start a new conversation, make something happen in a new way.
How will you make Tuesday a positively important day?

Excellent root and feet analogy, Liz.
I’m going to publish three blog posts, complete several day job tasks, and generally get myself closer to my goal of leaving the job and going travelling. I may also go for a ride on my bike to get me slightly closer to my goal of having a stomach I can grate cheese on.

Hi Liz (hi Jamie, long time no ’see’ ;-))
Mondays are for starting the week (Sundays, well my Sundays, are for preparing the week) with lists.
Tuesdays are for starting to tick off items of that list - after I’ve done the normal daily tasks. So far today I’ve written an alternative ‘landing-page’ for my new project; edited the original page; got further to grips with my affiliate program software.
Like Jamie three blog-posts have to be written, special email marketing messages too.
I love lists, and of course ticking off items on it, but they don’t restrict me - the blogosphere keeps ‘calling’ so I’m here and there etc, making comments and joining in the conversation whenever I think I can add something and hopefully make things happen

So true. It`s so much easier to be impersonal on the web when we could take time and reach out to someone.
Thanks for putting it in perspective.

I ran a flower shop for twelve years. Tuesdays were the day when we had to deal with all the old flowers. For me, Tuesdays were the most odious days of the week. Now that I’m not dealing with stinking water, I love Tuesdays. They’re one of my most productive days.

Time to re-connect with my dreams and goals instead of letting depression win like it did yesterday.

Every tuesday I go to a English club. We meet at a Chinese restaurant and practise our English. Some people there are almost my friends, some I’d like to meet regularly, and sometimes I meet new people. It is nice to go outside and meet real people.

I keep myself busy every weekday by using Remember the Milk as a reminder system - without it, I’d never get anything accomplished.

It’s a life-saver as well for the apartment and the relationship because when I do get working I tend to forget about the rest of life…

If you work inside, you can refresh and energize your brain by getting outside and walking around. Nature nurtures us.
Thanks for a great post, Liz. In my mind every day is a great day.

Hi Liz - I’m so guilt of this. I never schedule meetings for Monday’s because they’re way to important.
And I’d never really thought about it before, but Tuesday really can become a nothing day if we’re not careful. I guess it’s too early in the week to feel the pressure of needing to get things done.
I’m going to remember this and make sure I schedule important stuff for Tuesdays.

Hey Jamie,
Sounds like an important day for you. I love how you visualize your goals. I can see you accomplishing every one of them that way!

Karin!
It doesn’t surprise me that your Tuesday is one of getting things marked off your list. Nothing you say ever speaks of letting things sit static or fall behind.
Wow! You’re moving today!

Hi Writer Dad!
Odious water. That sure brings a Tuesday feeling home. Things that have been standing still too long smell . . . Glad you’ve got a new Tuesday feeling in your life!

Hi Cath,
It’s always nice to have a little room on Tuesday to do something creative or wander in our minds with a new project.

Hi Liz,
Being self employed, sometimes the days run together, but on my blog, Tuesdays are the day I showcase a new blogger (for the week). That makes Tuesdays special for me as I get to introduce a new author to my blogging community.
By paying it forward, it becomes my “feel good day”.

I think that’s so important! Practice generosity you know!? Whether it’s leaving a comment to add new thought to a conversation or offering words of encouragement…it’s all important! For a Tuesday and any other day for that matter.
It’s motivating to me to know that I’ve helped or impacted someone if even in a small way…

Hi Barbara!
What a great way to make Tuesday special for TWO people. Maybe I should consider a Tueday twist like that. hmmm.

Ricardo,
I so appreciate your positive, generous nature. For you, I might add “do something nice for yourself.” Everything you for others you deserve too.
