This is where running your own stuff comes in handy. I can get good server logs, and track pictures, and all kinds of fun stuff. I know whether people are reading.
I’ll have a post with no comments that someone stops to compliment me on at a party or on the street, and that’s cool. (That shoes post, for example, has caused quite a bit of conversation. Wore them to several things recently.)

Hey Candice, That’s it exactly — not everyone who reads comments. They say only 1% do. I love the idea that so many people know you in New Orleans. It would be fun to walk down the street occasionally and see some of my readers.
One day, I’m gonna have to see those shoes in person!

Not nearly as many people know me here as know me where I went to college the first time (Rochester, NY.) A large chunk of the subscriber base I know from my time there, too.
I’m also a rather recognizable person. I have had quite a few people recognize me from stuff Chartreuse did. I’ve been told I would be a very bad spy because people remember my face.
Find a convention or conference that’s coming here, and drop me a line. That’s how I see most of my remote friends since I moved back here.
ME Strauss said
Gosh, I think of all of the conventions that I’ve attended there. It was sometimes two or three in the same year. We might have been in the same bar together — maybe more than once. It’s too amazing to consider!!
candice said
Possible, but I’ve only been back here since 2003. (And unless you have a penchant for punk rock kinda dive bars or the rainbow-flag-studded ones…)

Candice.
You might be surprised the kind of place where I turn up.

[...] For a post on a blog called No One’s Listening, it sure has some good things to say about blogging. Money quote: “A lack of comments does not equal a lack of readership.” (Thanks, Liz!) [...]

Thanks for reading, Liz (and yes, commenting too)!
Sounds like I gotta see these shoes.
ME Strauss said
Hi Yas!
Yeah they are some shoes. They are some shoes.

Contemplating a different picture of them actually, they work much better with the skinny-leg black jeans that are in-season right now than those bellbottomy ones in the picture.
Yas, click through, link in the third post on the left. Metallic-finish heeled cole haan clogs. Comfy and badass.

I bet they do, Candice. I bet they do!
