Open Mic 7pm Chgo Time: Let’s Sing!
ME Liz Strauss wrote this at 4:20 pm
Yes the Mic Will Be on Tonight

We’re Talking About Song Lyrics!
Let’s talk about words we can’t get out of our heads; songs we love, songs we hate; lyrics we wish we had written; how songs affect our moods; silly songs; romantic songs; childhood songs; happy songs; sad songs; our song.
Oh, and bring a link about a song to share, if you have one.
The rules are simple — be nice.

Ain’t Liz sweet
See her bloggin’ down the street
Now I ask you very bogidentially
Ain’t Liz sweet?
By the way Liz, this being about lyrics, wouldn’t asking for “song” links be better than asking for “art” links up there?

Hey Scorpia!
You sing delightfully.
Sounds like you have been listening to old radio tunes. I guess it’s a good thing that I’m sweet because I’m a hopelessly, clueless proofreader.
Thanks for the art to song suggestion. I bumped the jukebox and the change magically appeared.

We all remember our first. For me that was Gerry Rafferty. The first album I ever bought because I liked the singer was City to City, the album that contained the famously-saxophone-introduced “Baker Street”.
Me and my The Wifeâ„¢ love singing along to our favorite songs, and we have taken a few trips to the Karaoke Field of Honor. I additionally adore ELO and Roger Hodgson.
I like songs I can sing along with. I have been known to harmonize rather nicely with Gerry Rafferty, and I’m still a fan, and I’d say the best band out of the 80s was The Outfield. Every one of thier albums is enjoyable and cool. I highly recommend.
I realize I must be dating myself, but I don’t really think there’s been much good music from the 90s forward. Hey, I’m biased. I like to tell people that I’m not one of those people who “love all music”; I’m picky, I have narrow interests, I like what I like and gosh darn it, that’s just the way it is!
I might not be able to check in again tonight, so I hope the discussion goes well (it usually does…)

The scene: Randy, Simon, and Ryan in nun’s habits. They begin to sing:
“How do solve a problem like Sanjaya?”

I love that song Baker Street.
Thank you for your wonderful story. You always bring such lovely imagery. I’m so enthralled by this one. I like what you like too.
