Questions to Get Closer to You: Question 17
ME Liz Strauss wrote this at 6:05 am
Get Closer to You
This is a series of questions, I don’t know how many. They are the ones I ask when I help folks get closer to their personal identity.
The Internet has no eraser. It’s a chance to write your history now. What legacy do you hope you are writing?
I’ll answer first to get things started.

I hope to get the hang of focusing head, heart, and purpose all in the same direction. When I’m lucky and clear enough about what I’m doing to pull that off, the “me” I bring to the world is open and authentic, the joy I bring and receive is genuine and growing, and the universe is filled with abundance. :)

Hi Liz
I always liked the word ‘abundance’ ;-)
Me, I hope my legacy will be one that shows growth (personal and business wise) can come from an abundance of sources, some even really unexpected. And that ‘all’ you have to do really is to open up to this abundance.

Hi Karin!
The world needs the legacy of that example. Imagine how much wiser our decisions if we opened to the abundance at offer!

I’d hope that I’ve been building a legacy that I can look back on and be proud of.
Also that over the years I’ve been online (and the years I will be) that it shows not just my personality by my personal integrity and growth as a person (and in business).

I’m trying, I’m trying ;-)
(Not to imagine it that is - I can see it vividly for me - but opening up and recognising those abundances all around us.)

Hi Paul!
Personal integrity comes through loudly online, especially in the kind of work you do — blogging and tv. I think you’re winning!

Hi Liz
What a great question!
I hope that my writing will inspire people to believe in the power of their own words, and then to realize that power.
Joanna

Joanna,
If anyone can do that, you’re the one who will. :)

Wow, Liz, I just started taking your questions (there’s a lot) and I just wanted to say thank you.
I’d seen the questions before, but wasn’t in the right place at that time. Now, I find they have really helped me center myself and find my focus. I will be eternally grateful to you.

I hope the internet has eraser. I can delete profiles, blogs, videos, and pics. The hard part is remembering all the passwords for the profile and etc.
However, I understand your point. Yes you can write your history on the internet. Which kind of goes into self branding yourself.
Tim Singleton said
I hope the internet says that while I was not always right, I was always honest.
If you always tell the truth about what you think, you don’t have to worry about remembering what you said.
Also, reading my own writing and others’ and seeing other’s reactions to both is revealing myself to MYSELF over time. How valuable is that? You don’t always like what you find, but you always find what is true and that is how you make course corrections in your thinking.

Oh Liz. Thank you for the gift of the question.
I hope I’m sharing my human-ness…and my deep respect for what we share…for our humanity…and all it entails. The good days, the challenges, the clarity, the confusion, the hopes and dreams, the worries and fears and how what is underneath it all for every one of us is one thing — our breath. If I can keep remembering it myself, and share from there, I’ll be happy with what I leave behind.
ME Liz Strauss said
Ah Nick,
You can delete what you put there, but the internet wayback machine keeps everything in the cache. Folks can find it. Google “wayback machine.”

Hi Tim,
I’ve learned a lot about myself writing on the Internet. How to be honest and authentic is one of the most valuable of them and one I’m still learning.
It’s a great legacy to aspire to. I think you’re well on you’re way there.
ME Liz Strauss said
Erica!
You bring such humanity to the Internet, but even more I like the way you said “keep remembering.” That’s the hardest part, isn’t it?

how apropos that you would ask on this as i continue to write in my new blog (thanks to your encouragement)
i hope to be real. to encourage find their purpose. it sounds so cliche’, i wish i could explain to my friends how finding my purpose has begun to make decisions so much easier…
does this move me closer or further from my purpose? good. act accordingly.
today i spoke with my mentor whom i admire greatly and SHE told me that i was inspiring her! imagine that. we are all the same after all.
good question. would have made me squirm 6 months ago. :)
ps: i am SO coming to SOB08!

Mmmmm. Love this question! I hope to be leaving a legacy of love, humor, memories, and perhaps some wisdom for my audience.
I write first for my children; even though they don’t read much of it now, I hope that when they’re adults and going through some of the same situations they can read what I thought at the time and find encouragement.
I also write for parents who may read my blog. Being an encouragement or bringing a laugh to someone’s day are accomplishments to which I aspire.

The goal is to be a joyful conduit of truth, beauty and love.
Sometimes, I’m lucky enough to see the stuff played out in real time. It’s a real kick to watch the lights go on.
I want to leave people knowing that it’s worth it, and not only that, but that it can be exciting and joyous, the connect-the-dots process.
I guess I want to leave the internet better than I found it.

My goal is to be a shining light in an area of business which needs it..
I hope for my words to be:
-A quiet voice of assurance.
-The key to personal genius.
-Filled with heart, to warm anothers.
-A voice of experience, love and lifelong learning.
My hope is that my words and offerings serve others to their betterment.
In my experience, the most amazing part of it all is the fact that I am not left unchanged as a result of the exchange either.
No wonder I love this journey. :)

Hi Jen!
We really are the same after all. We all edit ourselves wondering whether we sound cliche . . . yet if that’s what we really mean, we should say it. Then we put the cliche into the place where it belongs. :)
ME Liz Strauss said
Hi Amy!
I often wonder, if my mom had a blog what would I have found there. I know it would be a new dimension of the person I already knew. That’s a great legacy you’re leaving.
ME Liz Strauss said
Hi communicatrix!
I so love having you here!
Some days finding the joy seems easier than others. That’s why folks like you are important to folks like me. Thank you for what you do.
ME Liz Strauss said
Tim,
Your giving spirit is such a huge part of your legacy. :)

Liz,
I had to wait to write until I had a quiet moment. What a fine question. I hope my legacy on- and off-line is of showing a way to empowerment, infinite possibilities, courage, and humor in business. Humor for all the times when the first four fail you, because those times come. I’m Irish—there’s a joke for every black moment, in the family I come from. That has served me well. As often as possible, I try to bring a wink with any wisdom I’m able to impart.
I loved AmyL’s answer! Super!
Thanks for another great question.
Regards,
Kelly
