Liz, how kind of you and your fun community to stop by … and trackback the cortisol crank!
Research is handing us cool tips daily on this stuff – and I know your smart circle will have some valuable ideas!
Wow that made my day opposite of crank… ๐ Thanks Liz!
In “Educators Flock to Blogging,” don’t you think “Built in spelling tools will help students create a solid understanding of grammar and excellence in performance” is overstating it a bit?
Given the well-documented issues with spell-checkers in word processing applications (and others), I’m not sure it’s safe to say that spelling tools will help create a solid understanding of grammar. There’s going to have to be a heck of a lot of improvement in those tools. Current spelling and grammar checker tools haven’t improved the skills of some well-educated people I know (who still have problems with its vs. it’s, their vs. they’re vs. there…).
I haven’t found spelling checkers in blog editors to be reliable either. The spell checker didn’t catch, in the above quote, that “Built in spelling tools…” should be “Built-in spelling tools…”
Maybe I’m just grumpy this afternoon. Got an ETA on those nachos?
Hey Ellen,
I love your cortisol posts. They keep me from being a cranky old lady more than you might think. ๐
Hi Whitney!
The advantage the kids have is that the teachers who are willing to take on blogging are most likely doing it to get kids involved in and excited about writing and reading. That’s the definite upside.
In the end, any tool teachers use with kids is only as good as the teacher who uses it.
Nachos are here. Have a cold one.
Liz – Glad I was able to serve up something good this week (somedays I wonder) and hope others find it useful.
I enjoyed all the other entries at the cafe this week, too.
Have a great weekend.
Char,
It’s always great when you get a chance to whip something up for us. Thank you!
WOW, what a surprise to be served a la carte in the Business Cafe! I think it’s my first “guest appearance”, and in the company of some great specials.
It’s good motivation. Thanks, Liz. Hope your “customers” like the offering.
But, right now I need to warm up with some hot chocolate. It’s below zero here and falling – coldest night in 2 years. All but brain numbing. ๐
Hi Francie,
I just couldn’t resist! Keep warm and toasty and enjoy that hot chocolate!
