Something about Bloggers and a Chocolate Bar
ME Liz Strauss wrote this at 9:45 am
It’s not every day that i meet for dinner people that I’ve never met before. But it was a blogger’s blind date of sorts that brought Ann and me to a restuarant where we found CK, Sean, and Matt.
We were bloggers every one.
. . .
What is it about bloggers that makes conversation so natural? . . . Have you noticed?
Have you seen what happens when we meet? . . . a hug — even the shy ones, the I’m not Kumbayah ones seem to have that part down.
A lack of small talk seems to be the hallmark of wuch a grand event.
Like a first date, after dinner, we went walking, and picking up a detail said in passing ealier, Sean pointed out an Internet Cocoa Bar. We inside for an after dinner conversation about the world, each other, and how telephones work.
At one point we remarked that the little shop would be perfect place to take a first date to extend as evening — just the right amount of intimate, casual, and romantic.
It was exactly what we had done.
Blogger relationships seem to come easy . . . like talking over real hot chocolate in a fabulous chocolate bar?
Sweet.

Look at that beautiful picture of friends up there. Yep, conversations and connections come easy–because we’re open to them and, in sharing, we get so much benefit. The ROI is incalcuable and yet so very real.
I love how you spoke of growth through our blogs last night…and how you hit on listening through your daily calls (what a tremendous idea, btw).
Thank you for making time for dinner, cocoa and conversation while in town. I look forward to many, many more over many years ;-). And thanks for all you do every single day.

I just love seeing that HUGE smile on your face, Liz. Your point is well taken — the best bloggers seem to be born conversationalists, with the ability to go beyond small talk straight to making a genuine connection with the other person.

Hi CK,
Meeting you, Sean, and Matt was a delightful way to spand a New York Night. It was like being with old friends we just met. Thank you for the hospitality. It was everything authentic.

Hi Connie,
I smile that huge when I think of you also. . . . according to your definition you are indeed one of the best bloggers I’ve met. From the first phone call the connection has been strong, entertaining, and worth every minute. I feel lucky to know you.

First it’s good to see you guys up close and in person !:) I think it’s akin to a family reunion… you may have time and spaces in between, but you’re immediately at home

Hi GP!
It’s the family version all right, except you’re not in the picture. . .

Love that you said “it was everything authentic.” That’s the only way to live/work/blog and be. You have a friend in NY that will forever pass by that chocolate bar and smile ;-). I need to get to Chicago and will hope to very soon.
And many thanks for introducing me to the positive force known as Ann Michael.

What a great night that was!!!! Too bad Matt wasn’t there for the picture. It was great having dinner with all of you (and then eating all of CK’s oatmeal cookie!).
CK - I still can’t get over how much caffeine you consume!!!! You’re my idol.

Hey Sean,
It’s going to be a TV Show, staring Ann Michael produced by CK, sponsored by a new blend of double espresso. You and I will be roadies. At least, we made it into the picture. [grinning with all of my heart.]
