Technorati Blog Cards

Another Feature

Technorati has rolled out another new feature. It’s sort of like a baseball card for your blog. This is how it looks for Successful Blog.

Technorati Blog Card

To see yours, go to Blog Finder, type in your URL and click search. You’ll see your card and the latests posts indexed for your blog. It’s nice to be able to see whether our latest posts have made it into the index.

It’s a great feature, Mr. Sifry, but could we have a word over here?

I have great respect for all that you do and your team does for the blogosphere, especially now with the 40 million blog load that you carry.

Unfortunately, I’m having trouble getting excited about new features when my link countstill is inconsistent and my archives aren’t in chronological order — I estimate I’ve had real-time updates for less than 15% of the last seven months. I think I’m probably being generous there. By the time one lost link was found it was out of date — the six month drop off. The current count has been stuck for at least three weeks.

I’m tired of writing updates to techsupport and Janice. They’re too busy. So am I.

I want to be your biggest cheerleader and have been — to the point of changing folks’ minds to the positive about Technorati.

I can’t be a cheerleader right now, David. It just wouldn’t be authentic.

I can be patient. I know 40 million blogs is a lot.

I’ll still be here.

Hellooooooooooo I’m surfing through via BlogAdvance and I saw that little Technorati card and it’s quite the nifty idea in presentation for blogs.

You know, you’re a very pretty lady.

Well, we wanted to put out those profiles so that folks can see what Technorati thinks it knows about them. It’s partly a tool to help demystify Technorati, and to give you more power and control. As for the link counts, we’re really close to having a major update in place, I’ll be posting about it when it is rolled out live…

    Hi Dave,
Thanks for the comment. Not quite sure I see the part about more power and control yet. Can’t wait to hear more about the major update.

    Can’t say I’m a believer yet.

Yeah, I looked at mine, and it’s nice and updated with my latest post, but not sure it answers the “So What?” question.

When I search Technorati for a blog about “family travel” I usually get bizarre stuff that has the words but not together, so search results are not topical, and when I look for myself in Tags it often tells me that there are no blogs with the “family travel” tag even though mine most certainly has it.

Now, if I Google “family travel blog,” I am bang; right there on the first page. Good ‘nough for me!

    Hi Sheila,
I understand exactly what you’re talking about. Mike Sigers has the same problem with his golf blog. The first ten blogs that come up have nothing to do with the game.

    Hi,
thanks for bringing out issues with technorati. I used to think that only my blog is having problem with linking an ranking, but now i can be more relaxed after reading this. I guess we should not pay too much attention to all this, specially when we can do so much better in that time :P

so Liz what do you think, when do you think technorati is coming up with the updates? one week?

    Jack,
When do I think and the word Technorati don’t belong in any sentence together. Not for anyone except David Sifry and the folks who work there. I don’t know anyone else who has any idea what will happen next of when. . . . Certainly they’ve inked some deals this week and I don’t think these are the last ones. There’s a sale in the making or and IPO.
