The Mic is On: It’s about Shiny Object Syndro-
ME Liz Strauss wrote this at 6:58 pm
It’s Like Open Mic Only Different
Here’s how it works.
It’s like any rambling conversation. Don’t try to read it all. Jump in whenever you get here. Just go to the end and start talking. EVERYONE is WELCOME.
The rules are simple — be nice.
There are always first timers and new things to talk about. It’s sort of half “Cheers” part “Friends” and part video game. You don’t know how much fun it is until you try it.
Oh Look!
Surely, you’ve heard of Shiny Object Syndrome — that behavior that allows any small change to be a distraction. Are you plagued by it? Shiny objects seem to be everywhere these days. Tonight we’re talking about shiny objects:
- Do you get distracted easily?
- Is it getting harder and harder to hold people’s attention?
- Do you think shiny objects are a bigger problem than they once were?
- Is shiny object syndrome only found on the Internet?
ahem . . .
And, whatever else comes up, including THE EVER POPULAR, Basil the code-writing donkey . . . and flamenco dancing (because we always get off topic, anyway.)
Oh, and bring example links of shiny objects to share.

Hey Liz,
Hey All,
Sorry I’m a little late, I got distracted by something. I forget what because I got distracted by the dinner bell.
Amy Derby said
Mark, doesn’t it?
Hi Joe. What’s for dinner? I haven’t eaten yet today.
ME Liz Strauss said
Hey Joe,
Welcome!

Hello and how’s the evening? What thing distracted you most today?

Amy, how do you not eat all day? I NEED breakfast!

Does anyone find it harder to read long stretches of text, on paper or on screen? I do at times. Too much multitasking, maybe?
Joe said
Amy, ~~Hot Wings~~ yummmmm
Almost got distracted again…
Todd Jordan said
@Amy - I never go all day, but I do forget to do a meal now and then. Once the distraction becomes the focus, it’s all over but the shouting.
@Glenda howdy gal.
I find reading easier if I have no distractions. The key is not to try to do 10 things at once.
Amy Derby said
Todd, what distracted me most today was not wanting to do the thing I was distracting myself from.
Mark, yes. I blame ADD.
Glenda, I forget to eat. Once I remember I’ve forgotten I’m not hungry anymore. I also drink a lot of coffee.
ME Liz Strauss said
I believe multitasking is myth. We just think we’re doing it.

Distraction confession - wife calls while I’m talking on other line. I hang up the handset a minute later and forget to go back and talk to her on the cell. When I finally remembered, it was several minutes later and she had long since hung up.

I agree with that Liz. Other than walking and talking at the same time, I can’t do two things at once. Even the walking and talking can be hazardous.

Hi Todd!
My dad once went home from the saloon and left me there in the other room waiting for a ride. I know the feeling.

@Suzie I love a good sunrise or good sunset.
@Liz - just like computers, we can be alternating tasks very quickly, but we don’t parallel task well.
ME Liz Strauss said
Hi Suzie,
I could use some sunshine right now. I”m feeling a bit sleepy.
Todd Jordan said
@Liz - my mom still tells the ’story’ about the time we got stuck in the snow. I got in the car while we wiggled it loose. Once it got free, I apparently kept going and forgot her.
She also hated to send me out to get the mail when I was younger. There were so many distractions on the way there and back I often didn’t get the mail.
Amy Derby said
Suzie, please pass the sun.

Is okay to be distracted as long as you leave a thread to trail yourself back to ….
Amy Derby said
Glenda, I’m not sure. I’m just not hungry in the morning. :-\ Then as the day goes by I forget about it.
Liz, I bought that book you were talking about. It was one of the 43 books I ordered from Amazon the last time. Oh and I’m glad you’re going to let your brain heal from all that left brain thinking now. My brain was starting to have sympathy pains.
Amy Derby said
Liz, I would try to smack you out of my head but I kind of like you there.

I live 20+ miles from downtown St. Louis. I travel nearly weekly into town for one thing or another, because few things are held out in my town/county. Especially including tweetups, blogger gatherings, etc. Those fall into the never category.
I offer to host a tweetup this week that’s more local to folks in my county. Wow, you’d think folks would either ignore it or say they’ll show up, at worst say they’ll pass right? Oh no.
Folks have had to come out and belly ache about how it will be too far. How they can’t make it that far out on a week night. Others asking why I didn’t hold it closer in to down town! WTH???
It’s not like we didn’t just have a tweetup last Tuesday in their area. Good grief.
WTH??!!?!?!?

Amy Derby said
Todd, I feel your pain. I’m just far enough from the city that people gripe at me. I’m not a very patient or nice person. I would tell them to bite me. But in fancier language that I wouldn’t want to drop here.

Ah, Todd,
You should say “OH, I guess that means that bringing a gift is out of the question?”

Liz, I get Brain Freeze sometimes, but it doesn’t last long. Then I eat more ice cream.
Speaking of which, ANYONE WANT A KLONDIKE?
Todd Jordan said
@Joe I’ll take that Klondike.
Brain freeze can be a freeing experience.
Becky McCray said
@Todd, that is *so* common. It’s just as far for me to come to the city, as it is for them to come out to me. Yep. Common.
Amy Derby said
Todd, I would never organize anything because I don’t do well listening to people bitch (can I say that here?). If I had to organize something, my invitations would include a come or don’t come but no bitching clause.
Joe, I finally saw a Klondike in real life (not a picture) the other day. I was so excited.
Todd Jordan said
Thanks for the supportive feedback and the Klondike.
Did someone say brain freeze?
ME Liz Strauss said
So, Joe,
Imagine brain freeze and being really sick to your stomach with a dull pained knot in middle one of your shoulder blades and imagine that any light makes you feel sicker. That’s sort of what a migraine is like.
Joe said
Amy, seeing is believing, but Tasting is Heaven!
Todd, Brain freeze is so COOL! (get it?)
Todd Jordan said
@Joe - Ha!
@Liz - shhh, you’ll jinx me talking so much about migraines.

Hello everyone! I’m late and I can’t stay long.
What about big changes being a distraction? I guess it depends on how you define large or small. Lately, we’ve had stuff going on that has kept me from working on my blog. It really bothers me. I know I need to be more consistent with it, but then after a while something comes along that just completely keeps me from working on anything.

Amy Derby said
Trisha, changes are distracting for me. Little ones, big ones, doesn’t matter; for me they’re all distracting. I’ve had two sorta long periods of being distracted off writing my blog. Hasn’t really changed anything in the big scheme of things.
Amy Derby said

Todd, I hear ya. Earlier this year, Darrell and I went all the way downtown to some expensive wine bar for the first Vancouver tweetup and were royalty snubbed! We won’t do that again. Having lunch with you and Sharon in scuzzy Surrey was much more enjoyable.
Amy Derby said
Trisha, Liz might disagree with me (because she is the wise one) but I don’t think that’s always true about losing momentum. When it’s important to you, you’ll make time for it. If you feel like you’re forcing yourself to do it, then it’s an obligation. And we all hate obligations. When I took time off, my blog was better for it when I returned.

Talk about distractions!!! I’m living with them. Just had the power out for the second time today - just in time to miss the start of this rocking conversation. DAMN the web for being electricity dependent.
But I’m here and reading through all the many distractions that make me want to not do my work and check out all the distracting things that are distracting you. They have to be better than my distractions.
And thanks, Glenda, for doing the awesome video for me at WordCamp Portland. That was a huge hit and I’m so glad it is hitting the virtual air waves. It rocks. You brought tears to the eyes of the incredible crowd at WordCamp. Let’s do it again and again and again!

Hi Liz, wow, computer glitch right while typing. It must have found a shiny bit! Anyway, doing well, thanks. Exploring lots of things shiny now that the salad days are behind me:)
Hi Todd - brain freeze 101 - the upper pallet “freezes” in your mouth and it’s closet to the brain. So to “thaw” it out, stick your thumb in your mouth and hold it against the upper pallet - the warmth of the thumb helps to return all to normal temperature. It’s not instantaneous but darn faster than waiting it out:) So go grab that Klondike bar:)

One other, asked me about CSS problem. Made recommendation where it was at. Never heard back .
Amy Derby said
I just say I’m crazy. That’s a disclaimer for everything. Most folks are too afraid to ask.
Erica Ross-Krieger said
Liz - yes, I think that is my new middle name.
Amy Derby said
Erica, I am skimming your blog. Very interesting
ME Liz Strauss said
Bye Patricia!
Thanks for joining us!
Erica Ross-Krieger said
Does chocolate count as a shiny object? I think I hear some calling me…
Amy Derby said
Erica — p.s., now I have to go look up chi gong
Amy Derby said
There are fireworks going off here. Is it a holiday I don’t know about?
ME Liz Strauss said
#215 Todd,
I think Kris is wondering what happened to you. You might check.
Todd Jordan said
@Amy fireworks? Happy Tuesday?
Joe said
Ok, I can’t find the link for the embed either so I just brought a link to Glenda’s post which contains the original vid. http://www.doitmyselfblog.com/2008/how-wordpress-has-changed-my-life/
Very inspiring Miss Glenda, and that’s from the heart.
Go check it out if you haven’t already seen it.
Amy Derby said
Todd, it’s Rosh HaShanah, but my family is the only sorta-Jewish people around here that I know of…
Glenda Watson Hyatt said
Hey Suzie, I’m doing great, just frazzled. How’s your book doing?
Todd Jordan said
@Liz - can send me Kris info? DM or email might even be better. I’m so losing the battle with information lately.
I’m honestly considering a personal assistant.
Joe said
Amy, Fireworks? We’re getting Thunder and Lightning round here. Sounds kinda like fireworks and looks a little like them too.
Amy Derby said
Joe, I’ll take fireworks over another storm. It rained so much for two days here that I had some dude and his kids with a canoe in my yard. A metal canoe…
Glenda Watson Hyatt said
Ah, thanks Joe. You’re so sweet.
ME Liz Strauss said
Sure Todd!
Joe, Fireworks . . . wow!
Todd Jordan said
Alright, it’s meds time. I’ll catch you fine folks another evening. Keep well till next we chat.
@Liz - thanks for hosting
marti garaughty said
@Erica… my first comment tonight was a reference to chocolate, we’ve come full circle in the discussion.
Amy Derby said
Good night Todd. Take some good drugs for me, eh?
ME Liz Strauss said
Good night, Todd!
Todd Jordan said
@AMy will do
ME Liz Strauss said
Marti,
Where in the world are you?
Erica Ross-Krieger said
Joe - thanks for the link.
Glenda - Wow! Goose bumps and a smiling heart. Those are my shiny bits tonight. Thank you.
marti garaughty said
same for me, gotta go out into the real world for a bit, nice to meet everyone, thx Liz, was fun, see you again soon, nite!
Amy Derby said
Now I’m gonna have the where in the world is carmen san diego song stuck in my head.
Timothy Johnson said
Hola once again, my blogospheric friends.
Amy Derby said
Good night Marti. Nice to meet you.
ME Liz Strauss said
Amy,
I’m a pro at accidently sticking songs in folks’ heads.
marti garaughty said
@Liz… right now I’m in Montreal, Quebec
Amy Derby said
Liz, I know. You do it to me all the time.
Amy Derby said
Hi again Tim. Happy birthday.
Erica Ross-Krieger said
G’nite all. Liz, thanks for the topic. Fun to stop by, despite my computer glitch. Mercury must be in retrograde - or at least hanging out with some other shiny planets:)
Amy Derby said
Nice to meet you Erica.
Timothy Johnson said
Thanks Amy… my 40’s no longer scare me, so it’s just kind of fun to relax and enjoy.
And this year, I get to run away from home for my birthday.
marti garaughty said
technically I’m in a chair on the 2nd floor of my condo in the suburbs of Montreal on my way out to meet friends for coffee & cookies
it’s 10:11 PM here but this is like the afternoon for me, a true night person.
again Liz thx so much, love this concept, will definitely be back again
Amy Derby said
Oh and mercury is indeed in retrograde. September 24 to October 15
Erica Ross-Krieger said
Ditto, Amy. See ya another time here. I’m off to get that chocolate………
Amy Derby said
Tim, running away from home is always fun.
Did you eat cake and blow out shiny things?
ME Liz Strauss said
Happy Birthday, Tim!
ME Liz Strauss said
Gotta get to Montreal. I’m collecting so many people I like there.
Glenda Watson Hyatt said
Thanks Erica.
Happy birthday, Mr T.
Suzie Cheel said
Happy Birthday Tim
Amy Derby said
Liz, me too. I totally want to do a Canadian blogger tour.
ME Liz Strauss said
I’m already working too many sponsorship deals at once now, Amy. You’ll have to fund that one.
ME Liz Strauss said
Good night, Erica!
Amy Derby said
Ok. But I’m stopping the bus in Ottawa to stalk Charles de Lint.
ME Liz Strauss said
Hey, Amy,
You buy the bus. You get to stop wherever you want.
Timothy Johnson said
Thanks for the delightful birthday wishes, everyone. We’ll hope the airlines treat me more nicely because it’s my special day. (I can’t even type that with a straight face.)
Amy Derby said
Now I just have to find someone to drive the bus. LOL
ME Liz Strauss said
You MAKE ‘em, Tim!
You TELL ‘em. I SAID so!
Amy Derby said
Good luck with that one Tim.
ME Liz Strauss said
Um, er, Amy,
I think we have to find a bus, too.
Amy Derby said
Liz, the SOB award should come with special airline privileges
Amy Derby said
Liz, believe it or not, I know how to find a bus. I just did that for someone the other day.
Timothy Johnson said
I’ll do that, Liz. I’ll pin a note to my chest that says “Liz said you have to treat me nice because it’s my birthday.”
I’m just a little bummed I can’t be there for Abby tomorrow night to share her birthday.
we’re going out to breakfast in the morning before I hop on a plane.
Glenda Watson Hyatt said
Liz, I have an off-topic question, if I may, tho tonight’s topic is off-topic. How the heck do you respond to most/all of the comments on your “normal” posts?? I don’t want to be the kind of blogger who disappears once I hit publish, but my last post has received forty-something comments. My left thumb is out of breath! How do you do it?
Amy Derby said
Tim, make it “Queen Lizzy says”
The Queen part makes it look super important and stuff.
Joe said
For the life of me I couldn’t figure it out
How to rhyme migraine and klondike
It caused such a headache it made me pout
But then I was distracted within my eye
A big bright shiney thing above my head
I saw Miss Glenda there, way up in the sky
It brought a tear to one eye then the other
Along with a smile across my face
Her caring and sharing, just like my mother
So when you look up above your head
Don’t forget to share the kindness
With everyone you know, no substitues instead.

Nice work Joe. I’m proud.
Annie Lynsen said
I once dated a guy who’s online profile said:
“Likes: Shiny
Dislikes: (winces) Pointy”
He would lie on his back and bat at my beaded curtain like a cat.
Ah, memories.
But yes, I’m deeply distracted by shiny things. BlogWorld Expo had way too many shiny things. Tech conferences know their audiences, that’s for sure.
ME Liz Strauss said
Good night, Joe
Outstanding!
Sleepy Swell
Amy Derby said
Annie — Sounds like the dude was overmedicated. Or undermedicated.
Annie Lynsen said
And let’s face it, Las Vegas is just one giant, colorful, shiny object.
Annie Lynsen said
@Amy My guess is under.
ME Liz Strauss said
Glenda,
Amy’s right. I’ve done that before.
“Hey Everyone, You’ve all said such wonderful things and I’ve read every one of them.”
Glenda, just tell them that you hear what they’re saying . . . we want to know that you’re listening.
Amy Derby said
Annie, I lived in San Francisco for a while and met a ton of crazy people. They batted at things, but they taught me a lot of stuff.
Glenda Watson Hyatt said
aww, Joe, thank you. I confess I’m struggling with this inspirational thing this week. I’m not sure how to respond. Darrell says to simply say thank you. So, thank you. I’m looking forward to meeting you at Sobcon09.
ME Liz Strauss said
Hi Annie!
How great to see you here!
ME Liz Strauss said
Glenda,
thank you isn’t about you, it’s about them. It’s about acknowledging that they have given you something they value.
Glenda Watson Hyatt said
Thanks Amy and Liz. At times thank you doesn’t seem like enough, but I don’t know what else to say.
Amy Derby said
Glenda, I feel like that a lot too. But I think sometimes thank you is enough, because people know you and know that you mean it.
ME Liz Strauss said
Here’s one of my favorite posts on the subject of saying “thank you.”
Liz Williams said
Hi Everybody - I’m late tonight.
Happy Birthday, Tim!
OMG - is that a UFO?
Amy Derby said
Liz, I like “Thank you for saying that it means a lot to hear it from you.” That’s good. “Damn right I did” is way funnier though.
ME Liz Strauss said
OMG it’s the LIZ for SO. CAL!!
Amy Derby said
HI LIZ#2!
ME Liz Strauss said
Amy!
“Are you nuts?” is pretty funny too, but totally inappropriate, except to misbehaving lawyer clients.
ME Liz Strauss said
How’s my favorite other Liz?
Amy Derby said
Liz, “Are you nuts” is a staple in my vocabulary. I’m keeping it.
I only attract crazy clients, so it works for me.
Amy Derby said
Actually, it’s You gotta be friggen nuts.
Liz Williams said
Nope - just a plane. Where were we? And, is it a distraction when it’s become a lifestyle? You know, where you just don’t even try to not be distracted anymore. I’ve evolved, right? Right?
Someone?
Timothy Johnson said
Hi Liz W - thanks!
OK, everyone… the “old guy” needs to head to bed.
Hugs to all
Amy Derby said
Liz#2, my first ever screen name online was tryin2evolv. From an Ani Difranco song. So that works for me.
Night Tim. Safe trip.
Liz Williams said
Hi Liz - what a coincidence! You are MY favorite other Liz. As for misbehaving lawyer clients, girl, we could talk!
ME Liz Strauss said
Good night, Tim!
Have said that three times now!
I’m easily led . . .
Liz Williams said
Thanks, Amy!
Tim, did you need some help up the stairs
Amy Derby said
Liz#2, are you on the market for some misbehaving lawyer clients? I have some I’m happy to pass along…
ME Liz Strauss said
Someone offered to ship me his cats today. I said I wasn’t hungry.
Amy Derby said
Now Lizzy, cats are not the other white meat. Sheesh.
Liz Williams said
Wow, Amy. That’s so…kind. I’m full up just now. Maybe the original Liz would like them?
Amy Derby said
I’m trying to pawn a few of them off on her, but she will hate me once I do it.
Liz Williams said
Ship her your bunnies.
No, wait!
Glenda Watson Hyatt said
Thanks for that link, Liz. I’ll reread it a few times to fully absorb it. I’ve realized, the hard way per usual, that I shouldn’t discount people’s “you’re inspirational” [think I did that with Chris] because that devalues something they may need. So, bottom line is: make the comment about them, rather than about me?
Amy Derby said
Liz#2, I like the bunnies.
ME Liz Strauss said
That’s Glenda!
Just say, “Thank you for saying that! It means a lot. “
ME Liz Strauss said
Amy,
How about if I take 1 on a trial basis. [pun intended]
ME Liz Strauss said
I’ll double my usual fee.
Amy Derby said
Liz, they’re a lifetime commitment. And you will have yourself committed.
Glenda Watson Hyatt said
Night ol’ Mr T!
Liz Williams said
@ Amy - who doesn’t? I’m eating some now.
Liz and Glenda - I like the post too and remember the first time someone took me aside to give me that advice with gratitude.
Amy Derby said
Liz, you told me your fee. You will want to more than double it. I tell you this out of love and out of knowledge of the cost of medication these days. You will need a lot of medication.
ME Liz Strauss said
Amy,
I used to teach first grade and I know how to deal with drunks. Two incredible life skills I think should be mandatory education.
Amy Derby said
Liz#2 — WHAT ARE YOU EATING?
Liz Williams said
The puns are flyin’ tonight!
Amy Derby said
Liz, I have one guy who starts hitting the booze before noon and assigning me tasks he doesn’t remember in the morning. I get everything in writing now for this reason. He also emails, texts and calls at all hours and expects me to fly to him whenever he has a technical problem — like his iphone freezes up.
I was raised in a bar, so I agree it should be mandatory.
Liz Williams said
“Bunny…” oh, it’s “Bunny *Grahams*, all-natural graham snacks.” Oops - got distracted before I finished reading the label.
ME Liz Strauss said
Okay, then I’ll double Liz William’s fee. How’s that?
Amy Derby said
Bad girl Lizzy #2. Very bad.
Amy Derby said
I don’t know the other Liz’s fee. Will have to consult
Glenda Watson Hyatt said
K, I think I got it. May take some practice tho! Do I add something about them, if appropriate? For example, Matt Mullenweg posted my video on his blog. I’d like to acknowledge that, and thank him for making accessibility a priority. Appropriate?
Liz Williams said
Liz Baby, I’m raising my fee in 2009, so we better talk first!
Amy Derby said
Whatever it is, I’m sure it’s not enough.
Liz Williams said
Glenda - I think what you propose is perfect - gracious appreciation.
Liz Williams said
Amy - I’m not so bad. Really.
Amy Derby said
I think so too Glenda. I like it.
Amy Derby said
Liz#2, what do you do?
Liz Williams said
@Amy - bwhahahahaha!
ME Liz Strauss said
Glenda,
That’s a great thing to say, “Thank you for making accessibility a priority.” That makes it about him not about you.
Glenda Watson Hyatt said
Thank you, ladies. I appreciate your advice and will absorb it.
Now, time for dinner and Biggest Loser with hubby.
Thanks again Liz for the space to hang out with friends.
ME Liz Strauss said
Liz,
Does Amy know how you set your fees?
I think setting mine from yours only follows.
Amy Derby said
Have a good night Glenda.
Liz Williams said
OK, seriously: I teach people how to get along and get work done - at the same time. I work mostly in healthcare, mostly by planning and facilitating meetings or training sessions, and mostly within the context of teams who need help.
Lately, my work has been morphing a bit into straight-up OD (organization development) and I’ve been helping my clients restructure their organizations)
Liz Williams said
Good night, Glenda!
Liz Williams said
337 - your logic is impeccable, as always. Amy is in the dark thus far.
Amy Derby said
Queeny, I’ll give you a starter lawyer. One of the ones who starts out by saying “I’ll pay anything…”
Amy Derby said
I’m always in the dark. Until a shiny object comes along
Liz Williams said
I read starter lawyer as starter liar. No kidding.
Amy Derby said
I’ve been reading your website. Better you than me.
Liz Williams said
Do we have to stop now that Amy brought us full circle?
Amy Derby said
Same difference.
ME Liz Strauss said
Good night, Glenda!
Thank you, for being you!
Liz Williams said
345 - I may be the only person on the planet who loves meetings. I keep thinking they can all be like a good jam session.
Amy Derby said
I’ve been to too many meetings. Videoconferences where we watch senior partners eat spaghetti and do nothing else. Then there is a nonbillable billing code for it. I’m done with that life.
Liz Williams said
Liz, I gotta ask - I can’t figure out what the picture is.
Amy Derby said
She was distracted by a shiny object. Stay tuned.
Liz Williams said
I think that meeting would be OK as long as you could Mystery Science Theatre 3000 it: “Oh, no, he’s going to drip the sauce on..,oh, GAWD, what a mess!”
ME Liz Strauss said
It’s an ornament from a Christmas tree. I picked it because it’s hard to tell what it is.
Amy Derby said
Also, knowing what goes on on those same conference room tables after hours… It’s just wrong.
There’s a billing code for that too.
Liz Williams said
Is that where everybody went - in search of the BSO.
See? An acronym to remind you of the life you left. Who loves you?
Amy Derby said
Queen Lizzy is our favorite bright shiny object.
Liz Williams said
Liz - it worked! Stayed distracting, too.
Amy, the Mystery Science Theatre approach works for all billing codes.
ME Liz Strauss said
BSO — sounds Officer of Bullshit
Amy Derby said
Well, it’s a take on SOB, see…
Liz Williams said
No one thinks THEY have that title, and yet….
Liz Williams said
Successful and OUtstanding Bullshitter. I’m getting cards made up!
ME Liz Strauss said
How silly of me, why didn’t I see that.
You know, the three of us could do a mean podcast. I’m just sayin’
Amy Derby said
We should get those made up together and get a discount
Amy Derby said
If I just changed my name to Liz it could be Liz Cubed.
ME Liz Strauss said
the lawyer’s blog.
Liz Williams said
That would be funny and fun! Let’s get that microphone turned on.
Oh, Gawd - will we have to fight over the title?
ME Liz Strauss said
the title: Shut UP or I’ll Slap you!
Amy Derby said
Liz(es), there’s a podcast called “We’re mean because you’re stupid” — the title is the best part of the podcast, but I love it.
Amy Derby said
That’s something we could do. I already have lawfirmblogger.com.
Liz Williams said
Doesn’t it take a lawyer to change your name? Amy can be Liz #3 - the penultimate Liz.
Amy Derby said
When I change my name, I’m going for Zelda Queen of the Little People
ME Liz Strauss said
Killing them softly with Liz song
Liz Williams said
Shut up or I’ll slap you anyway.
Amy Derby said
No lawyer needed. I know how to do it.
Liz Williams said
Liz, Liz, Zelda - It’s like duck, duck, goose.
Liz Williams said
ey.
ME Liz Strauss said
Who let the cat out?
Amy Derby said
slapcast
just what the world’s been needin’
ME Liz Strauss said
Larry, Larry, and Darryl
Liz Williams said
the cat is mine - I’m still hungry.
Amy Derby said
In my sixth grade class, it was all Jennifers and Amys and one Ethel
Liz Williams said
slapcast! OMG.
And my other brother Darryl.
ME Liz Strauss said
Filler up with Ethyl
Amy Derby said
The mascot can be my little brown rabbit. She slaps and bites and growls.
Liz Williams said
Ethel? Someone named their kid after a grade of gas?
Amy Derby said
Other Liz, what kind of meds are you on?
ME Liz Strauss said
I know! I know! The best title ever . . . it will totally ensure that my husband NEVER listens.
Ready?
Three women talking.
Liz Williams said
We’d, of course, need the bunny on video.
Amy Derby said
We need to keep a flowchart of these things.
Amy Derby said
Someone on twitter suggested an ebook called 1001 To Blame On Men.
Liz Williams said
Allergy meds….and perimenopause.
ME Liz Strauss said
A chart?
did you say a chart?
Amy Derby said
I can put the bunny on video. Bunnycam
I think slapcast is good. Or slapcam.
Liz Williams said
3 women talking about a chart
Amy Derby said
Calm down Lizzy. I’ll make the chart.
Amy Derby said
Don’t get me started on menopause. I’m going through that now at 28. I want to be shot.
Liz Williams said
I’ve been watching Seinfeld - that was 3 men and a woman talking, and hilarious.
ME Liz Strauss said
A friend of mine and I used to have the
Tuesday each lunch at home club . . . It met every Friday.
We picked the name before we chose the day we would meet.
Amy Derby said
I love Seinfeld even though the man can’t act. You know they had to add the woman to that show. Network made them.
Liz Williams said
Amy, what? Yikes.
Can you get the bunny to bite and growl on the video? Without pissing off PETA?
ME Liz Strauss said
I still like
Shut up or I’ll Slap you!
ME Liz Strauss said
No I mean really
Amy Derby said
Liz, there was a Lucy episode where their Wednesday club never met on Wednesdays. I loved that.
Amy Derby said
She slaps for lettuce, so yes.
And I like shut up or I’ll slap you too. That works for me.
ME Liz Strauss said
#397
I’m out of estrogen and I have a gun?
Liz Williams said
I like Shut up or I’ll Slap You too - it has a simple elegance. And the available material, OMG!
Amy Derby said
Now how do we make a podcast?
ME Liz Strauss said
there’s always . . .
Will bicker for food.
Liz Williams said
I’m out of estrogen and you’re in my way
ME Liz Strauss said
Now how do we make a podcast?
That’s a great title too.
Amy Derby said
It’s a very good thing I don’t have a gun. No iphones allowed in prison.
Liz Williams said
These are all good. Liz, you’ve been hiding the candy!
Amy Derby said
Slapping is better. Now how do we make a podcast? can be our tagline
Amy Derby said
Now I want to make a podcast. Not fair.
ME Liz Strauss said
Never try to stop a car from the outside.
Liz Williams said
409 LOL!
ME Liz Strauss said
Give me all your money!
Amy Derby said
Good tip.
ME Liz Strauss said
I’m going to redesign my blog. Shall I make room for it here?
Liz Williams said
416 - an advice podcast! Laughing harder now.
Liz Williams said
I dare you
Amy Derby said
I want to see your redesign. I’m so nosy.
I think the podcast needs its own site. slapcast.com
Amy Derby said
OMG, slapcast.com is already taken.
ME Liz Strauss said
#422 You dare me, what?
Liz Williams said
I dare you to put it on this site.
Amy Derby said
to make a podcast
Amy Derby said
We double dare you.
Liz Williams said
what is slapcast.com then?
ME Liz Strauss said
Title: Never Date a Guy Who’s a Verb
Amy Derby said
And if I whip out another personality, we can triple dare you.
ME Liz Strauss said
That’s a show title.
Amy Derby said
The verb guy would be lost on me. LOL
ME Liz Strauss said
She walks, she talks, she crawls on her belly like a lizard!
$10,000 if she isn’t alive!!
Amy Derby said
I had a lawyer hire me to write her dating profile. That would make for a good show.
Amy Derby said
You can have your code writing donkey on as a guest speaker.
ME Liz Strauss said
the names of kids I went to school with would be a winner . . .
Desiree Bumgartner
I’m just sayin’
Amy Derby said
Slapcast.com is totally wasted.
Amy Derby said
Don’t drink on meds. Another show.
Amy Derby said
Desiree Bumgartner? Really?
ME Liz Strauss said
Ever talk for a whole day like the dog on the Jetsons?
Rasto?
Amy Derby said
There was a dog on the jetsons?
ME Liz Strauss said
Real name. No kidding.
What were her parents thinking . . . hoping she’d get married young?
Amy Derby said
Liz, we so have to meet. We will scare the crap out of people for a three mile radius.
Liz Williams said
wow - my computer got distracted! It just got all hung up.
ME Liz Strauss said
Liz lost the her connect to the browser . . . not sure what, but she can’t get through. Maybe we should quit giving away all of our great content.
Amy Derby said
I blame all tech glitches on Liz’s invisible dog.
Liz Williams said
The dog on the Jetsons was the best! Desiree Bumgartner - there oughta be a law…
Amy Derby said
No worse than naming kids after inanimate objects. Like Blanket and Apple and Satchel.
ME Liz Strauss said
there were lots of ‘em. I never knew anyone named Smith or Jones or Williams.
Liz Williams said
Might be a good time to call it quits though - take the invisible dog for a walk.
Amy Derby said
Give the invisible dog his invisible meds, etc.
Liz Williams said
But not until I ask Amy where she went to school. I had all the smiths, jones, etcs.
ME Liz Strauss said
I need to go read my spam email.
Sweet dreams. This was fun!!
Liz Williams said
It’s hard to stop! I will tear myself away.
Amy Derby said
Night crazy Lizes.
Liz Williams said
Good night, Liz
Good night, Amy
