ME Liz Strauss wrote this at 7:30 am
Tueday Night Was Filled with Sunsets and Toys
Open Comments Last Night was held on west coast of Portugal, complete with umbrella drinks and everyone brought their favorite toys — People showed up with legos, transformers, even slinkys. Too bad the infamous link leak virus. Link Leak Virus is a special strain of the indie virus with blogtipping mutations that occur in threes edged its way in.
Cool links were shared.

Hi Liz. I brought a toy, but I honestly can’t remember what they are called. You use them to build things. There are various poles and you can put them in these wood things?

I have lots of toys - a slinky dog, tribbles, a cabbage patch doll and others all in my office

Trisha, Where did you ever get Tribbles?
I thought you could only get them from Starbase 11

I found one a few years ago at a mall, then I got a couple at the Star Trek experience store at Las Vegas

I’m a slinky fan myself. It would be cool if you invent a virtual slinky that could move from blog to blog or from blog page to blog page.
I go for that.

I loved my frisbee when I was young. Of course, my neighbor’s dog could catch better than I could.

Roy - looks like an interesting blog. Nice tagline: Writing, Clear and Simple…Everybody has a story. Tell it clearly and powerfully.
Boy, do I have a story for you! So one day, I was sitting outside…in front of my house…wait, it was in front of someone else’s house. Anyway, a bird flew by. It was black. No, blue. Black and blue. Wait, that was my eye. See, my eye was black and blue cause I was standing in front of my neighbor’s house. Well, technically I wasn’t just standing, I was also…
Clearly, and simply. I’m on it!
Welcome again.

Can’t go wrong with Legos or green army men, that’s true.

Trisha,
I don’t think they have a doll or anything for the Doctor yet, (ou’d think after almost 30 years they would).
And there will be a NEW DOCTOR next season…

Oh, so that’s where everyone went!
Transformers. Can’t wait for the movie - giant robots smashing downtown LA; it just doesn’t get cooler than that….

Actually they do, and you can even buy a sonic screwdriver:

Ok, What was the name of the Metal Construction Toy that actually had nuts and bolts and you could build buildings and Ferris Wheels and things?

I know! I know! Erector set! (he yells loudly while waving his hand over his head). The kid across the street from me had them, along with lincoln logs. Between the two you could build a city.

Legos! And Mattel electronic football - back when “video games” were little red blips on a 1 inch by 3 inch screen.

Ja’evr hook a balloon to your bike wheel with a clothes pin to make it sound like a motorcycle???

Rick Says:

At least before life went electronic, you made everything out of what was laying around. We did the clothes pins. We used picket fence rails to make swords. We made parachuters out of thread, plastic, and treelimbs. Newspaper and balso for kites. Tennis ball cans, tennis balls, and lighter fluid (when we were in our younger teens) made turned into bazookas.

[YAWN] !
Morning all … toys … what toys did I like … that would be my brothers stuff, whatever it was. Their guns for playing cowboys. Trucks.
A toy I absolutely HATED was a ‘Chatty Kathy’ I received one xmas. I never lived that down.

Well, as the Snopes entry commented: “The first time that children’s rhyme was published was in 1881. The last time the Black Plague hit London was just around the time of the Great fire in 1665 - that’s a minimum of 220 years that children were reciting the rhyme and no-one wrote it down”.
There’s far too little narrativiumin this world, so the stories that make sense aren’t neccesarily also true….

HART (1-800-HART) Says:

Cap’n Crunch! WooHoo!
Lucky Charms. WooHoo!
Tom. You understand. Somebody finally understands.
Also - don’t forget… Sugar Crisp. AlphaBits. Sugar Pops. Fruit Loops.
My wife prefers I eat stuff like Honey Nut Cheerios or Apple Cinnamon Cheerios, or Multi-Grain Cheerios or even Plain Cheerios (with lots of sugar spoonfuls) .. since it’s only 2 points per cup, if counting

Tried the poprocks and pepsi. I’m still alive (except the first hour after I get up).

Hey, pedalling backwards to stop is a great reminder of childhood, too!
By the way, HART — I missed saying happy birthday last week! Sorry about that!
Here’s a Blackcherry Vanilla Coke and Crown Royal to make up for it.

He’s baaaack!
I noticed someone mentioning guns…I had entirely forgotton about a Rifleman cap gun I had. It was just like the Remington rifle from the TV show, and you could fire off a roll of caps faster than lightning. I killed many a bad guy with that baby.
The conversation turned to books and mistaking gender on the Internet.

Hi everybody!! sorry i’m late. ( aren’t i always)
Still haven’t figured out what ever happened to the drunkard moose and his friend the pig. Did they made out and started a family and lived happily ever after?
I swept up the beach as best I could and put up the stools on the sidebar.

[…] Shortly thereafter, I got hooked on open mic night at Successful Blog where I met with a cast of crazy characters. Suddenly everyone was talking about the donkey, and we named him Basil. I told people he wrote code for me, and the silliness just went on from there. […]

Great stuff gang! Looking forward to rejoining the fun next week. Meantime, Liz, look forward to passing along to you the Fawlty Towers DVD. Everyone else on the “Where is Basil” list? As they say on the Price is Right, “Come on down”!

HI Starbucker!
We missed you. Still wondering what your favorite toys are and what you did when you were little.

Tonka Trucks and Hot Wheels cars - loved ‘em. I dreamed of being a jet pilot in the Blue Angels; I actually painted my bike in their blue and yellow colors and drove around “in formation” (yikes). Hope you are having fun on your trip.

Tonka Trucks and Hot Wheels! No one brought them up. You were one cool kid.
I can see why you’d want to be with the Blue Angels. I saw them when I was a kid.
I’m working hard on my trip and having fun too. :)
