What I want to be…

This entry was chosen as one of the best for the Business Channel “Take Your Sons and Daughters To Work Day” contest.
Your comments will count as votes - the most commented post between now and April 30 wins! The commenter wins and the blogger wins. So comment away!
What do you want to be? What do your kids want to be? How do childhood experiences affect your career?
Oh, that’s easy.
If I grow up, I want to know that by the time I’ve exhaled my last breath, I’ve made the world a far better place for *someone*.
This *someone* could be my family, my children, the people I inspire via my writings, my town, my state, my country… *someone*.
That proves the world became a better place because I was in it.
And yes, that’s what I teach my kids when they ask me, Mom, what’s the meaning of life?
Enjoy,
Barbara

Hi Barbara!
I was moved by what you wrote as well and delighted to see it brought to the top of the page.
But you should know that it was a private panel of judges who chose the finalist entries. If you follow the trackback in Comment #1 you can read the others.
If lots of folks comment on this entry, you could win the Barnes and Noble gift certificate. :)

Thanks for the additional information! While winning is always nice, the fact that my contributions are recognized really just makes my day and is enough for me.
Best wishes,
Barbara

It is nice to see that I am not alone. I will judge my success by the folks I have helped.
And … I’m not sure I’m gonna make it to the “grown-up” stag of life no matter how many children I birth, no matter how many degrees I obtain, nor how many candles are on my cake.
