Wordpress or Movable Type

Discussion: Wordpress vs. Movabletype

It’s an ongoing issue. As two of the biggest players, who often go head to head, it’ll be debated until the cows come home. What platform is better? Movable Type or Wordpress. There are some good points being made on both sides over at Darren’s Blog and it’s an interesting discussion to follow as it can really show you the pros and cons of these two popular blogging platforms.

For my part, I don’t have a preference. They both do some things well, and others not so well.

    Can’t help but comment on a few more posts :)
    I am using blogger for no other reason then that it was the first one I used.
    Having seen all the comments posted on Darren’s blog, I became convinced it was time to switch (or at least consider) Wordpress.

    BTW your link to “how to choose a blogging platform” returns an empty page.

    Ohad, thank for letting me know about the broken link. I’ll see what’t up with that. It appears that post has gone by the wayside during one of the many server move in the last six months. Darn it anyway. I’ll have to put a new one together.

    I used blogger on my personal blog and WordPress on my other two. I can’t be happier than with WordPress, especially 2.1. It’s easy to use, if you don’t get yourself overwhelmed by the codex. Just jump in and use it.

    There are lots of folks around here to help if you need it.

    Liz, I just stumbled on your blog through Thur Broeders’ site while looking for the perfect Blogger template. I am switching two of my blogs,though, to Wordpress.org.

    I wish I had stumbled across your New Blogger Page in November when I started all this, but a lot of the information is still new to me. I will post about this page. You put together a great list. Thank you.
