. . . The issue seems pretty simple. Videotron wants to preserve the gatekeeper status they enjoy as a cable television provider. Thatââ¬â¢s why they oppose net neutrality. In a world where many competitive alternatives exist, that might be tolerable. In our world ââ¬â the world where your choices are cable or the incumbent telco ââ¬â it shouldnââ¬â¢t even be on the table.
Do we, as consumers and producers of content, want a return to the end-to-end integrated model of the entertainment networks, or do we want choice? Thereââ¬â¢s enough crap on the tube. Letââ¬â¢s vote for choice and see what happens.

I never thought of it in that way. The movie studios used to own the theatres (the pipes) as well as the production companies (the content). The federal government forced them to divest and allow the theatres to shown whatever movies they wanted to show. Not a perfect analogy, but similar.
Yeah, Rick. I think your analogy is a great one. I’d gotten to the cable TV version, but not to yours. And we survived the movie theaters being on their own — I think we were better for it. It sure seems that way to me.
