Cube Rules lives leadership. I said goodbye to my team and 3-4 others on the floor and headed on home twenty minutes after being laid off.
All of this, of course, happened a half hour after my wife, Kate, was laid off in a different building in a different department. There are times when working for the same company sucks…

It involves serious study. It involves research. We need to study it as a huge complex system.
Jonathan Fields demonstrates doing for others is tricky business. “It’s late, sweety,†I say, “what’s the matter?†“I’m scared, daddy,†comes the reply. “What’s scaring you?†“The crickets.†[we live on the 9th floor in the city, ain’t no crickets, here] “I’m scared they’re gonna jump out and get me,†she continues.
Legal Andrew offers an educated perspective. Many of the key issues for this topic are exactly what time counts as “hours worked.â€
Drew’s Marketing Minute offers a timely question (or two). I’m not talking about giving someone a pen or t-shirt with your logo on it. (You’re not doing that, are you?)
The Savvy Entrepreneur offers a thoughtful definition. . . . Filling the pipeline is the first stage in the Universal Marketing Cycle. If you’re not actively filling your pipeline, your business will soon run dry. So what DOES filing the pipeline really mean?
Lorelle on WordPress takes a stand on translations. . . . I rarely give permission. Whoa! Does this sound like it goes against Lorelle’s policy of open, transparent, fair, and equal communication and breaking down the language barriers? Nope. It is within my policies.

Hi Liz,
Thanks a ton for a kind mention and link. I really appreciate it!
Best,
Andrew
Andrew,
The pleasure is all mine. 🙂
Hi Liz,
Being laid off, of course, is a cautionary tale. But Kate and I are very well prepared for it — and what I hope to show in some of the articles I do is the commonality of the experience of being laid off as well being able to have others learn from my experience.
For example, after a great shock, how many of you have put in your contacts then put on your glasses and wondered why you can’t see? Yup. Even great preparation doesn’t let you ignore the emotions of the moment.
You’ve always been a great supporter and I thank you for it.
It will be an interesting journey. The great thing is that every time I’ve had something like this blow up my life, what has come next has always been so much the better with the next iteration. So it shall be this time as well.
Scot
Hi Scot,
So it has been for me as well, when I was willing to see it, that when ever a great change of this nature has happened in my life, it was one that I needed to move on to something better. I have no doubt that’s what will happen with you and Kate.
My hope is that it brings you closer and not that it takes you or your time further. You’re one I would never want to lose. 🙂
Hi Liz,
I’m not sure how I found my way here from the vast world of the blog-o-sphere but I’m here and I like what I’m reading.
I took the liberty of wandering over to Cristina’s blog [The Savvy Entrepreneur] and enjoyed what she had to say on the topic. Some might say her recommendations are obvious…but are they really? It seems to me the concept is simple enough but it’s something that we take for granted. Life…business…everything is founded..is rooted upon relationships! It’s a concept that we take for granted at times. But it’s so essential to any successful enterprise!
I just wanted to share my thoughts on that. I suppose I’m just a very passionate individual.
Nice to meet ya!
Read you later!
Hi Richard!
Welcome!
I agree, often the most interesting things we read are those that remind us of what we already know. 🙂
It’s a usual thing that folks can’t remember how they seem to have gotten here.
I’m glad you came.

True… A little reminder and inspiration goes a long way!
Hey, Ricardo,
True that, and true also that we think people who think as we do are really smart. [grin]
