Why you Should Go . . .

March 27, 2007 by Liz Leave a Comment

What Easton Said About SOBCon

I have wonderful relationships with so many stellar and outstanding bloggers.
One of the best of them is Easton Ellsworth of KnowMoreMedia — the man who invented blogtipping.

A good part of yesterday afternoon we spent on Skype talking about how to use links to build relationships and to write effectively for people — sure links bring traffic, but if traffic is your only goal the people who come aren’t the same as the readers you find you when you write for people.

Take Easton Ellsworth’s word for it.

SOBCon 07 will be different from any conference you’ve attended.

The speakers will be incredible. But they’re not the main event. You are.

You have to be there. YOU will shape and define SOBCon. And SOBCon will reshape and redefine you and your business.

You will discover how to use emerging technologies to supercharge your business and connect to people more effectively on the Web.

The virtual mini-conference was just an appetizer. The seven-course meal is coming.

Are you coming to Chicago? Are you going to try to persuade me to help you get there?

SOBCon 07 News: Drew’s Cool Idea!

March 25, 2007 by Liz Leave a Comment

What We’ve Done So Far

It’s been only a month since we announced SOBCon 07 and so much has happened!

  • We held a virtual conference.
  • We announced the next level quest.
  • The speakers are detailing their bios and their presentations.

We’re letting folks know that this is a carefully-crafted, attendee centered, content-rich event. Folks are finding out that it’s going to be a quality experience in which the audience will have an active role as a partipicant.

That’s why when Drew McLellan suggested this idea, so in keeping with the conference, we just HAD to do it!

I’ll let Drew tell you about it.

Give Little Get A Little LOT

Guest Writer: Drew McLellan

Hey all,

Relationships are about give and take

You give a little. You get a little. That’s the balance of a good relationship.

It shouldn’t surprise you at all that this same balance would be adopted by a conference focused on taking your blog to the next level by building stronger and more valuable relationships.

SOBCon 07

Unlike a typical conference where the speakers are the only ones who get to share, at SOBCon we’re turning that notion upside down.

Each and every participant is invited to bring something they’ve created – a book, a white paper, a podcast series, a visual tool – you name it for every single attendee and speaker.
Imagine leaving the conference with a bag filled with knowledge, insights, laughter and inspiration.

And even better; imagine every SOBCon attendee learning more about your blog and passion, and being touched by your work.

There are only a few rules:

  • It has to be your original content.
  • You must bring enough for everyone.
  • You must be willing to give it away for free.
  • Do we need to say the material has to be appropriate?

Register today so you can get a little. And get a little LOT!!!
Drew,
Drew’s Marketing Minute

PS –Please pass this along. I have no pride of authorship on this. So feel free to completely re-write it, edit it or ask me to do either. Or just fall in love with it as it is and use it silly.

Thanks, Drew!

At SOBCon 07: The Next Level Quest

March 20, 2007 by Liz Leave a Comment

Relationshiping Blogging Doesn’t Work without Content

I have conversations with bloggers every day. We swap strategies and learn from each other. Yesterday I had more than one. The first conversation was with Lisa Gates. She wanted to know more about the SOBCon content. So I thought I’d bring some of it from the SOBCon 07 blog over.

What Does It Mean to Take Your Blogging to the Next Level?

It means engaging your potential, reaching for the vision and executing what you see. At SOBCon, we’re going all out to make this event insightful, content-rich, inspiring, practical, and fun!

The SOBCon Next Level Quest

Together we will strategize, discuss, and learn how to

  • Respect that in business and blogging all things are based in connecting relationships
  • Treat our blogs like a business, or a business-like hobby
  • Define a vision for our blogs that inspires readers to be part of it
  • Identify like-minded bloggers whose blogging goals match our own to swap strategies with
  • Evaluate our blogs through the eyes of a first-time reader
  • Use links, trackbacks, comments, design archietecture to lead to increased participation, and extended reach that could develop into business ventures
  • Ensure presentation, navigation and all reader experiences are intuitive, simple and elegant
  • Know our brand values as readers define them and be able to participate in how readers perceive the unique and remarkable values we offer
  • Understand basic tools that are useful for video, podcasting, social media, and voice commenting
  • Reach out beyond the blogosphere to non-blogging readers to become a resource they rely on
  • Recognize the traits and characteristics of a successful and outstanding blog by doing blog critiques

Presenters with specialized expertise will get the conversation started, and presenters and attendees will work together to get move our blogs higher — to decide what is the next level for our individual blogs and plan how to get there!

Are you ready to take your blog to a new level?

What else could we pack into this quest?
