In my email today
Big Roy send this email today with a request to all for us.
Liz,
I have a new post which is sort of a call to action for Autism parents and supporters. You may know already that the Congressman (Chairman Joe Barton) blocking the Combating Autism Act is also heavily on the side of big Telecom in the Net Neutrality issue. Any help you could give would be appreciated. This post
Thanks as always,
Big Roy
Austic kids do great things. To quote the Autistic Diva, “. . . without autistics you wouldnââ¬â¢t have electricity in your homes and offices. Without autistics you wouldnââ¬â¢t have computers or the Internet. Every single time you blog something or make toast, thank an autistic person.”
Won’t you take a minute to read Big Roy’s post about it?
Thanks.
–ME “Liz” Strauss
Thank you Liz.
Big Roy,
Did you see the other post that we had about Austism and Bloggers? The comments there say a few important things.
I didn’t know about that post Liz. I was wondering how I missed the post because I never miss a day reading this blog. Then I saw it was in April, before I knew about you.
I’m certainly no expert on Autism. But I don’t want people to think all people with Autism are able to blog or are high functioning. Sadly many are not. Their parents face many struggles everyday. The impact on family life and finances can be incredible.
I agree, Roy. The folks who wrote it are autism bloggers.
We need to care about all of them that’s for sure.
Dear Liz,
Thanks for posting this. As a Mom of an amazing six year old named Gibson who is PDD-NOS, I thank you. I also wanted to see if you might post a link to this blog where folks can actually see how to write in to Mr. Barton and protest.
Here’s a link to a story about what he’s done –
http://artblogcomments.blogspot.com/2006/10/congressman-joe-barton-blockskey.html and ways to write to him.
I realize your blog is not an autistic focused blog, but because this was posted I hope that folks will write. Autism rates are growing and now it’s 1 in 80 boys and 1 in 166 kids that will be diagnosed with this disease. As a journalist and a Mom I can tell you we need all the help we can get. And I can also say that covering ebiz as I have for 12 years, it is surprising how many of the CEOs I’ve come in contact with whose kids are struggling with an austism spectrum disorder.
What Mr. Barton has done is hurt generations to come for his own political gain.
Nettie Hartsock
Nettie I have put a link to your post on my blog. I have many posts about Mr. Barton you might be interested in. It seems he is clearly motivated by money and big Pharma.
Nettie and Roy,
It looks like you two have taken things into good hands. Thank you. It’s important to care about all of our kids.
