In business it’s easy to get distracted and then get into that feeling of overwhelm.
When we see this is happening we need to draw a line in the sand. On one side put all the things that dont’t matter. On the other side put all the things that do matter. Then take action on what does matter and propel you and your business forward.
How you decide where to draw a line in the sand?
For me the line is drawn between the things that most promote my values and life purpose and the things that don’t.
My life purpose is to empower others to go after their dreams. When I look at all the tasks on my to-do list, it’s easier to see which ones will help me get my purpose done.
In order to carry out my life purpose, for example, I have to take care of myself, so tasks like eating right, exercising, meditating and engaging in positive thinking are high on the list.
The toughest things to differentiate are the events, seminars, etc. that may be interesting, enlightening and empowering, but may not be the best use of my time at a given moment.
The amazing thing about those things on the non-important side of the line manage to get done without my involvement, or drop away.
Learning how and where to draw that line is the key to success and happiness.
I always just think “CAN this be done tomorrow?” It’s so simple, but there are so many things that can indeed be done tomorrow. The world’s not going to end if something’s not done today
Hi Blondie,
I like you comment and sometimes we do forget the world is not going to end if something doesn’t get done:)
A sense of overwhelm usually hits when I’ve lost perspective, so I go to extremes: I unplug for half a day (or longer!) and do something with my kids. That helps me prioritize the rest of it.
@ Flora,
Wow you have inspired me,I like what you have said and going to take on board that to do list. Interesting currently I am focussing on taking care of me, so I can better inspire and empower others
Thanks for sharing your wisdom
@Christina
it is amazing how unplugging can make such a difference and help get the perspective back.
A short and nice blog post!
I try to listen to my intuition and inspiration. Only to do what I feel REALLY inspired to do!
Greetings,
Claus
I believe that we need to distinguish at times between what is important and not so important, the hard part is determining what really is important. A line is really to clinical, maybe it might be better if we used three sections – yes, no and maybe. Regards the push me pull me optimist.
Claus-
love what you have said-listening to my inspiration does it for me
@Dape
interesting comment I used to be a yes no maybe person now i ask does this say hello Suzie go with the yes, discard the no- gets rid of the grey areas
