On Friday we wondered if we would get to swim in the sea. Following a week or more of fierce storms with a consequent build up of debris, the sea was so murky. The locals including ourselves were reluctant to swim. Thursday we stood on the beach discussing why it was taking so long to clear. We didn’t swim that day.
Then overnight, as if with the wave of a magic wand the sea had become crystal clear. You could see the fish and your own feet.
Life itself is like that sometimes I find. Last week I was in one of my "overwhelm" states. HOW would I get everything completed IN TIME?
Des says let’s get everything that is in your head onto a spreadsheet. VOILA, magic wand time again! I have been able to get clear and move forward. What’s great is I am checking things off. This give me good feelings as well as giving me clarity.
What do you do when things are not clear?

Hi, I clicked on your blog thru twitter because I remember that song! And it rained all day yesterday, your beach notes are awesome!
Michele
Beautiful analogy I love the sea. It depends on whether the problem is one that can be solved with a spreadsheet, just clearing ones mind of distractions may help.
Hi Michele,
Suzie’s post is awesome, isn’t it? I look forward to what she and Des write every week. The make Sunday on my blog so fine. 🙂
Yeah Terri,
I agree that spreading our minds to make room for bigger thoughts, longer thoughts, deeper thoughts makes such a difference. I do it all of the time. 🙂
Hi, I actually go lay down and just think. I also tell myself that a lot of the stuff that is swirling in my head doesn’t need to be worked out right this minute, and that when the time does come to deal with it, many answers will have come by then. I have a tendency to push. and when I push, it gets further away from me. So when I just sit and deal and let the answers come. It works out better.
Hi Michele,
Thankyou, glad you like them.
Terri-The spreadsheet, did both, cleared the mind and gave me clarity
Marina- thanks for sharing your simple way of getting clear.
Liz,
Love that we make you Sunday here
Suzie and Des,
This is a wonderful reminder for me as to why I use lists. I tend to write things down all the time, because it helps me keep my mind clear and open to new ideas.
The list serves as a container that I put things in so I don’t have to think about them until I’m ready to. I don’t remember where I first heard this, but it works (at least for me). I find I have way more good ideas when my mind isn’t cluttered with the job of remembering everything I’m supposed to do during the day.
Just don’t let the list become a task master. It is a far better servant than tyrant. 🙂
Dave
Hi Dave,
I had just printed out my project list and I hae started usung a clipboard fir my daily to do lists and you have reminded me that lists are great for uncluutering the mind, so new ideas can arise, I think there might be a blog post there.
Maybe true of other aspects of out lifes- when there is no clutter abundance flows
Suzie
Hi Suzie…
I use lists… If I get it on paper I can clear my mind and let more amazing ideas in!
I use the computer so much – but the one thing I have never learned to do is use spreadsheets. I have Excel on my computer but I have only opened to view a spreadsheet someone has sent me.
Maybe I will put that on my list – Learn how to use spreadsheets. 😉
Hugs,
Ellie
Hi Ellie,
Yes I think paper has a lot going for it, I am good at the lists . but not always on following through.
Will look out for you on skype
