It is with great pride and sincere thanks
that I announce that Mr. Paul Scrivens and I
have reached an agreement in which I will become
the sole owner of
Successful Blog
What that means for our community is that Successful Blog
will be getting a new design and a new host.
Thank you, Paul Scrivens.
It’s been a pleasure doing business with you.
I hope to do so again in the future.
Sincerely,
ME Strauss
What wonderful news to be greeted with when I check the blog.
Congratulations Liz! 🙂
~Cas
Congrats! I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with the place.
Thanks Cas!
Thanks Sabine!
I’m open to all suggestions.
Both of you have my email address I think.
Liz
Congratulations Liz! Will you be remaining with the Fine Fools/9rules posse, or are you a completely free agent?
Hi Gerard!
Thank you. I think it’s a free agency for me.
Scary, but true.
I’m gonna miss being a FineFool.
Liz
Well, getting a new host .. I can only assume that you will be keeping your domain and transferring all of your previous posts? or, will you be starting from scratch?
I ask – because I recently am being plagued with problems moving from a host provider to another, and trying to get my database exported and restored. It seems to be an issue that existing database is written on the InnoDB MySQL engine, while the database I want to move it to does not support InnoDB and instead uses MyISAM …
(Today, it’s all greek to me – I hope to figure this out by New Years – but just in case, if that means anything to somebody and wish to help me – I would appreciate the assist off-line at hart(at)PetLvr(dot)com … )
So! That was a “nudge, nudge, say no more” hint to hope that you document your move and transition… /
Congratulations, Liz. I can imagine that your hands will be full for some time as you build the new blog home. It will surely be exciting for all of us.
Wow! What I know is wrong. I love when I find that out in any situation. It makes me look at things with so much of a better perspective. The lesson I’m taking from whatever has transpired regarding FF in the last few days is you’ve just got to provide value. I’m still a big fan of Scrivs but a looking forward to an idependent Successful Blog. Good luck on the move Liz.
Hi HART,
You speak more Greak than I do. 🙂
I have a few people helping me and at least I’m moving from Word Press to Word Press so that’s in my favor.
I’m hoping seamless will be the word of the hour.
smiles,
Liz
Thank you, Shirley,
I appreciate your taking the break to stop by to say so.
Liz
Thank you Anthony,
I’m still a big fan of Scrivs too. He’s got a lot going for him as we both know.
You make a good point about providing value. I hope to do that and I’m thinking of how I might refocus Successful Blog to provide more value to more readers. I’d love your thoughts if you have some you’d like to share.
Liz
Liz, great news!!! hope this is the begin of a new and improve era for Successful Blog! we will be all the way up along with you, reading and making suggestions!
Congrats!
Javier Cabrera
I thought I was too stretched/burnt out from my own projects at the moment to think hard about ideas but it’s an interesting question. If it was my blog the first thing I’d do is create a pubic news section like Style Gala where people can quickly post on-topic links of interest to SB’s audience. It would create a bit of a community feel plus add content without much effort. Though, all in all I think you’ve been doing well from a content view by posing questions via your posts to what makes a blog successful. I’d just keep that up. One thing I’d do is have regular review of a blog highlighting aspects about why I think it’s successful. It’s actually quite tough thinking up ideas for a topic you wouldn’t necessarily blog about yourself even though I enjoy reading about it.
Hello Javier!
Thank you. I hope it is also the beginning of a new era.
I’m ready for all of your suggestions. Start firing away!
I send you hugs this time.
Liz
Thanks Anthony!
I think that’s a fabulous idea! As soon as we move I’ll get the login set up and we’ll do just that–maybe code name it after you in some clever way. 🙂
Cool.
Liz
Congrats and Good Luck.
I hope for the best for you and Scrivs.
He’s shown a lot of class in the way he’s allowed people to keep content and URL’s.
Hi Mike,
Thank you. You’re right. I think Scrivs is a good guy.
I think you’re the best.
Liz
Just thought of another idea, you could invite people to submit case studies of their experience if they launch a new blog, put ads on their blog, buy a blog or overhaul their blog. You could create the framework for the case study submissions and then maybe some commentary on the case study it self. It’s the sort of thing that would look out of place on the blog itself (unless it was another blog about blogging) but would fit in well here at SB and allow your audience to fully understand what the blogger’s process through an event was.
Hi Anthony,
I was jus thinking of you.
Hmmmm. That could be fun. Maybe we should do it with that blog that you have sitting there. 🙂 Just kidding.
That could be fun.
I wonder who would be up for such a thing?
I’m ready to get moving.
Are we there yet?
I like how you think.
Liz
I was going to do a case study and submit it here if I bought The Poker Blog from Ben but I missed out.
You should know I am toying with the idea of launching a personal blog for the new year but really don’t want to give all the voices in my head a platform. As well as this I just can’t decide on a blog name/domain name that I love.
Anyway, I’m right-brained which makes me only good for thinking up the ideas. Actually following through and completing tasks is more for someone with a tendency to stray towards left sided cognitive functions.
Hi Anthony,
I’m right brain too, and I find that if I choose the photo first it makes the writing a whole lot easier.
We could design an art blog for you–totally out of a pile of found photos. That would be cool.
What a community project that would be.
I’ll keep an eye out for some poker blogs.

Liz –
What a wonderful surprise I find after being away from the computer for most of the holidays. Congratulations on your new venture. I know you will excel in this and any other project you choose to undertake. The energy and enthusiasm that you bring to S-B is one of the things that has motivated me to keep trodding along with my own blogging efforts. I’m sure most of us who frequent S-B get a good measure of inspiration from you. I can only hope to achieve a fraction of what you have done here.
All the best.
– Gary
P.S. Happy New Year!
Thanks Gary,
You guys don’t realize how many times it’s you who keep me inspired and going. You all bring so much to the party it amazes me. I’m just one single person who knows a lot about a few things and you all seem to know everything about everything I don’t know anything about.
Somehow that seems to work perfectly.
smiles,
Liz
Congratulations, Liz! I must admit that I don’t care for Scrivs much so I am very happy that you are going independent. It makes me feel like less of a traitor when I comment here. 😉
Hi Hsien,
Good to see you. Thank you for your nice words. I see your sites looking so very good. I hope they’re doing really well for you. Now that you’ve lived through a couple of new blogs, maybe you can take me under your wing.
smiles,
Liz
PS Scrivs is a person. He has a heart. He’s done some really good things for me–especially when the trolls were trying to knock me over. I’ll always have a special place for him. He was a hero.
Liz, I’m sure there are many people who’d jump to your defense if any trolls tried to touch you. A person like you has only great things ahead. 🙂
Thanks Hsien,
I need to hear that. It’s been a rough year. 🙂
Liz
Hey Liz,
good luck going solo. Things are starting to scare me about what’s happening with the FF.
Seems like my first impression afte JOAB left was right after all.
Kazana
Hey Kazana,
Thanks for wishing me luck. Hang in there. I think that FF still stands a chance. All of the cards aren’t in yet. Pauls a smart guy. They’re a good group. It could still happen. We’ll all have to wait and see what comes next.
Liz
Hey Liz,
I sure hope that the FineFools recover. And I also think that Scrivs is pro enough to know what he’s doing. It’s good crisis management that shows how great the people on top are.
I’ll definitely keep an eye on what’s happening over there.
Kazana
Hi Kazana,
I hope that FineFools holds their own as well. I’ve offered Scrivs my brain if he needs it, but he’s got a good one of his own, so there’s no reason why he should need mine.
I’m thinking with a deep breathe they’ll pull through.
I’m glad there are people pulling for them. There’s lots of good people who deserve to win at FineFools.
Liz
Hey Liz,
Firstly, Happy New Year.
I come back from 8 days of blogging-free merriment and the you-know-what has hit the fan with FF et al.
I really have done zip on the blogging front so I’m just catching up on all the goings on … but, congratulations on breaking away from the mother ship and going it alone 🙂
BTW, can you please resend the email you sent me – I accidently deleted it in my spam purge (heck, 8 days without checking my email and 500+ spam emails slip through 🙁
Hi Martin!
Welcome Home!
Great to see you. You look fit and well as ever. Good to have you back again.
Happy New Year to you as well. I’m up too late so. I’ll catch up with you later on the rest.
Liz
Fit and well, Ha!!!
Let’s see: right this minute I have gastro (extremely self-inflicted … think: food and drink fit for a month all crammed into 5 days and you’ll understand what a sorry state I am in – oh well, pity poor me 😉
Hi Martin,
Oh dear boy, I’m sorry. You do look good though.
Yes, as we used to say when we were kids, “I’m taking this show and hitting the road.” I’m very much open to suggestions once I get the keys from the gracious lord, Mr. Scrivens. He’s been very kind in his dealings with me.
Liz
Hmmm, Mr. Scrivens … don’t think I’ve heard of him 😉
Paul said that was his dad.
But I meant Paul just then.
Silly.
Hey Liz … seriously, what’s happening with FFools? From an outsiders view it seems to be going downhill just like that out of the blue, but I haven’t been in the loop this last week.
Seriously, Martin,
I can’t say for sure. I’m not sure anyone know for certain.
Everyone is hoping for the best. But no one knows exactly what that would be.
There’s about as much information about your post here as there is anywhere right now. I expect more tomorrow, but who knows?
Liz
For those who might be looking for me, I’m fine. I’m just unable to post right now. For some reason, my password has jammed and I can’t get in touch with the admin to reset it. Be back as soon as I can.
Liz
