Net Neutrality Links
I’m adding this link to the Net Neutrality Page.
Why Distrust Bell Promises on Net Neutrality
The dirty secret of modern telecomm is that all the money is in wireless. Verizon Wireless is the largest wireless provider. Verizon advertising claims only “the network” can guarantee good wireless service. (That is a lie.) Verizon claims it offers Internet service off its phones.
Does it? Not on your tintype.
Even The Wall Street Journal’s Walt Mossberg refers to the Verizon and Cingular networks as “Soviet Ministries.” They decide what online services users will be able to access, and at what price. They also take money from both sides of every information transaction.
When challenged about this, they lie. That’s right, they lie. They claim that if someone was unhappy with a third party they would complain to Verizon. As though people complain to their ISPs about every bad site visit they have. As though the mobile companies were paragons of customer service. They are not.

This is a particularly good one. Although I haven’t been able to test Verizon’s Internet access. The only place I’d need it is a county in WI where there is no cell phone coverage at all!
Hi Katie,
Good morning!
Can you hear me now? 🙂
I can hear you! I agree completely.
Liz,
I love your blogs, very nicely done. It’s great to learn new things from a person versed in branding like yourself. I am teaching the concept of branding to a niche group. It’s amazing branding is so important, but yet never has been taught in the right way to people in MLM, Network Marketing, or affiliate marketing. People in those groups, tend to brand the company they are marketing instead of themselves…I guess it’s a self image thing they are struggling with.
I will come here to get great ideas. Would love to talk with you sometime. I will definetely link your blog to mine.
Thanks,
Josh
Hi Josh,
Interesting post you choose to link to. 🙂 Sure we can talk. Email me. lizsun2 @ gmail [dot] com.
Liz — Good Morning!!
I can hear you. Whew.
Those mornings when I haven’t had coffee before coming here, I ALWAYS forget to type “Hi”. And then it haunts me. But I always think it….
Hey Katie,
No worries. No rules about typing “hi.” I like to say it, but it also lets people reading know who I’m talking to.
Reminds you of the conversation we had on the last Net Neutrality post, don’t it? (Sorry about mistaking SNL for Laugh-In by the way – I don’t always get american popular culture right..)
Verizon wireless is the prototype for what they’d like to see the ‘Net become, apparently – with them in the middle taking a percentage off the top of everything.
Well, I’m sure someone’s going to come along and say that’s not going to happen – someone in the pay of Verizon. The question is: why on earth should we believe that, when wireless shows so clearly what they’d do if they WERE allowed to do on the ‘net what they do with cell phones?
Oh, and good morning, everyone 🙂
Hi AdLib,
I was delighted that you knew that Lily Tomlin bit. It made me feel a second younger . . . 🙂
But of course, no telco would charge us extra money, just because they could . . . would they? *she said laughing too hard to type anymore*
