Get Closer to You
This is a series of questions, I don’t know how many. They are the ones I ask when I help folks get closer to their personal identity.
What have people remarked about you as something you’ve always been good at? How are you incorporating that into your current success plan?
I’ll answer first to get things started.

First in high school, then in college, my recommendations from teachers read, “Her sense of humor and her care about others develops longlasting relationships.” I guess that’s still working for me. 🙂
I’ll take the funny nose off now. 🙂
Writing.
I’m writing! And I don’t look at it at all like “it’s only a blog.” I’m now up to about 200 people coming regularly to my site and I’m dang fulfilled. Yay!!

Hi Liz
Thinking lateral, seeing combinations between programs, methods to make the work, task or program better, simpler.
Now I’m starting to use that strength (maximizer) for my official ‘second career’ 😉
It’ll be fun!

This question should not have been as hard to answer as it was, I know what I’m good at, but as far as what other people have told me I’m good at… guess I’m not very good at remembering what anyone says verbatim. Which, brings me to my discovery (re-discovery?) I’m not that great with words, but I’m great at reading the energy and body language of people and situations. I had a psychology professor once who said something to the effect of “You’d be an inspiring interpretive dancer” . That sounds fun.
Well, a lot of people have been tellin’ me lately I’m sorta, you know, insane. Is that what you mean, Liz? :-
I guess what I hear the most are comments about my sense of humor and my writing ability. I’ve always had a well-developed (albeit a bit dry) sense of humor, but I’m gratified that folks think my writing’s coming along well.
Oh, and I tried to take my nose-glasses off too, but discovered they’re, um, real! *sigh*
Insanity makes the world so much more interesting, Robert. Wouldn’t take you any other way. 🙂
I’m remembering a nice compliment from a teacher in my freshman year of college– she told me that I had a talent for writing and I should do something with it. It took a couple of years for me to listen to her and now I’m doing something with it.
People have always said that my enthusiasm and energy are infectious. I suppose I use that in a Pollyana sort of way to identify new opportunities for my clients to have fun making money. I think that spending over 10 hours of our day doing work that hurts and engaging with people who sap our spirit is a complete and utter sin. It doesn’t attract your ideal customer to you, it costs you time and energy (not to mention any semblance of soul you have left). Life is too short.
Hi Jannie Sue!
It seems to prove itself every time. A common thread of success follows us around a trait or two that we come to naturally. Nice to think that it makes you happy!
Hi Karin!
It doesn’t surprise me that you’ve always been putting two and two together to make fabulous combinations. You do it with thoughts every day here. Like you did with that one. Fun!
I guess my ability to teach is a biggie. I have the knack of adapting the lesson to my audience. I spent years developing this as a martial arts instructor, and found myself more and more in the “flow.” Now, I am trying to bring all that to writing a blog, but I miss the immediacy of the facial expressions and body language that show I’m making a difference. It is hard adapting to an unseen audience, but I am learning from you and others to see one or two people in my mind as the audience and write from my heart to them.
Robert,
Your sense of humor and your storytelling. Give us all heart and show us all compassion. Those nose glass you wear are very handsome. 🙂
Karen,
You write like you think, clearly and with beautiful ideas. You do open up a world for us.
Hey Sage,
You do match your words to the person you’re addressing. I recognize the guide and teacher in what you’re saying. Thanks for being a friend who can do that.
Ivana,
Your positive energy with your ability to see clearly are a powerful duo. I can see how most folks would find them incredibly attractive.
Hey Melissa,
I’m sorry I missed you at the first go around. Did you consider what a great listener you are and what great questions you ask. I bet people have been saying that about you for years. 🙂
I am told that I have always been good at making people feel welcome and comfortable, a wonderful hostess. It’s interesting to me because I ama real nervous ninny about hosting events!! We have always been storytellers in our family, I see that in my writing and recently people have told me they enjoy my ” phrasing “
