Wondering What’s Changed?
You can argue ideology, but I’ve said for a while that American companies are going to hurt when they realize they no longer have the only access to the largest market in the world. It’s not a hard concept — it’s about quality now, not quanity. Scott Karp says it beautifully in just a few words. Don’t let the big words throw you. Click the title and go read.
Thanks, Scott. I agree completely.

Scott Karp also deserves the second “t” on his first name. 🙂
I love it. This is exactly what a lot of people see as the primary (potential) value of the internet.
Not only can individuals connect directly to each other and their customers/fans/peers, but they can band together to form channels such as were denied them traditionally.
Encouraging.
Thanks, Brian,
You’re right. I know too many Scotts.
Hi John,
It is one the best things about the Internet that the conversation works wonders through and across the web simultaneously, and that we can share thoughts with each other in such a direct way, yet on such scale.
This has been on my mind for the past few days. I have been thinking about how if I were in an airport (unlikely but it COULD happen :-)) it would be unthinkable for me to talk directly to the CEO of a big corporation but when companies open the communication via blogs then there is a way to talk directly.
Even without that direct connection, we have the power to discuss our thoughts, impressions, ideas and feelings about what is happening around us. The internet has empowered people to not simply sit in their living room and complain – now they can express themselves and be heard. Very heady – this new found power of ours.

Tammy,
What a great comment. It makes total sense. The fact that the CEO has a blog with an open comment section means that he has given you permission to talk to him. That’s why you can feel comfortable approaching and talking. He’s invited you into his “office.” If he doesn’t treat you well there, then you have every right to be offended.
What an inisght. Thanks for sharing this. It’s exactly what I need for something I’ve been thinking about.
Liz
Oh, Liz ~ when I create my blog just about “blogging” it will be full to the brim with my”insights” I’ve realized love to simply think.
To use your words in the 10 Most Critical Skills ~ I am one to “tinker with ideas and viewpoints to stretch them, reconstruct them” now my job is to make these thoughts solution oriented. Be a problem solver.
Isn’t blogging so cool! 😉
Oh Tammy,
A blog about blogging. Think that one through again. I’ve been unblogging this blog from the moment I got here. 🙂
Oh, I’m not so silly – they won’t know it’s about blogging. It will be about people~
That’s what I love about you, Tammy. You’ve got a great mind going all of the time.
