The Mic Is On: We're Talking about the Law of Attraction

March 25, 2008 by Liz 196 Comments

It’s Like Open Mic Only Different

The Mic Is On

Here’s how it works.

It’s like any rambling conversation. Don’t try to read it all. Jump in whenever you get here. Just go to the end and start talking. EVERYONE is WELCOME.
The rules are simple — be nice.

There are always first timers and new things to talk about. It’s sort of half “Cheers” part “Friends” and part video game. You don’t know how much fun it is until you try it.

It’s the Law . . .

Wear a “kick me” sign and sooner or later . . . someone will. We’ll be talking about whether we believe your intentions and actions bring things into our life.

  • Can we make a positive life by believing in it?
  • Do we really intend our future?
  • Do we attract the people who come to us?
  • Is all of this law of attraction “bull puckey”?
Glenda and Liz

And, whatever else comes up, including THE EVER POPULAR, Basil the code-writing donkey . . . and flamenco dancing (because we always get off topic, anyway.)

Oh, and bring example links to share — about the law of attraction.

–ME “Liz” Strauss

Liz – Re #12. I’ve basically been at the theatre 52 weeks a year for the past 10 years. Any vacations came during the week so we could be back to the theatre. I’ve had a version of cabin fever about weekends for a while now. So, for the past three weekends we haven’t been able to open, except for one Friday night. I found that I miss seeing our customers, seeing the films, seeing the faces of the children as they come in and leave, hearing the audience reaction to the film and, if it’s a new customer, to the theatre.

Regarding the power problem itself, we had a temporary fix with a power supply a friend gave us, asking nothing in return. The insurance company told us buy a new one and if things work, you’re covered for the cost without us looking at it. Our equipment supplier is shipping us a unit even though we haven’t got the money on hand to pay 100% of the cost. Things looked all dark – literally and metaphorically – then they just brightened up and I felt like those old movies where the clouds part after a storm and you see beams of sunlight lancing to the ground.

It seems last week while I was feeling sick and sorry for myself. I sure attracted lots of folks

I don’t know who wanted something for nothing.

I know well who have forgotten that I’d been there for them in the past.

This week when I stopped feeling sorry for myself I attracted lots of folks

I barely met who have offered to help and give in amazing ways.

I’ve known come forward with ways to help me that are also well beyond anything I have ever done for them.

    I’m a very lucky girl.

I think this attraction thing works.

During my work with MS and HS teachers today, we were talking about kids and respect, and it was very evident in the way they talked about “those” kids, “their families” “the homes” they come from…there was little belief in children’s capacity to excel. This quote kept running through my mind all day. If only they knew you believed…imagine the potential that would unleash. It was a tough day at work!

I mean, it seems once I can say “I need THIS tonight” (or anytime) I’m one step closer to having it. Like right now, I just need to go slow as I type — usually I rush here to get the comment in. Thanks Becky. That situation was kinda funny. The woman was almost panicking cuz the door wouldn’t open. I just sat there, knowing the door WOULD open once she stopped pushing the buttons or left; I was hoping for the latter. The morale of the story hit me later.

I drove by the Lafayette, CA hillside today, where the owners put up a white cross for every American who’s died in Iraq – some with Stars of David, some with Chinese lettering. Many with flowers. Almost an acre. Covered. And a huge sign. Today with the number 4,000. So I’ve been thinking about the November election and what I hope we attract. I hope a year from now we are in a more peaceful state. How about you guys? Hopes for what we attract?

Some things that took a while with Lady Glynis and I (with a bricks and mortar store)

    1. Setting up a simple, adequate accounting system.
    2. Developing relationships with vendors.
    3. Remembering the customer is the reason you’re there.
    4. How to perform customer surveys simply, and why you would want to.
    5. The difference between advertising and marketing, and why they’re both important.
    6. The importance of a good relationship with the bank. How to tell a good one from a bad one.
    7. Navigating SBA loans.
    8. What the SBA has to offer.
    9. How to value your business – I still have a tough time finding information on this.

That’s some things off the top of my head we did a lot of research on and are still learning.

(Excuse me if I seem slow. I think the intertubes have developed congestion over the past few weeks.)

    lol, Rick: Alchemy.

My need for lead is more prosaic. It’s what I use for ballast. I’ve said a fond farewell to 2 pieces of furniture in the last 2 days, and now my houseboat is listing more than is safe or comfortable. I’ve got all the files out of the window seat and hope to fill it with lead. If I can’t find lead, scrap iron. If I can’t find scrap iron, maybe klondikes? I’m working on the “empty it and they will come” theory.

Gotta get more weight in here so I can jettison the wood-burning stove I never use.

Absolute worst case? Enclose the lower deck so I’ve got somewhere to move the furniture to rebalance the boat.

The way I understand it. the LOA is about understanding, being clear on who you are and what you intend to do and have in your life.

Once you put that intention out there and keep it clear in your focus the universe provides.

I’m feeling fine. About 20mins ago. I just started the chemo. I’m going to be here in Indy until Saturday.. But I’m so happy about the internet being up..

so if anyone else is there.. do you have any actual stories of Law of Attraction?

We told a few, not many, in this thread. Have you read Ed Mill’s blog Evolving Times. It’s all about that. You might find it inspiring.

    Good luck, Nick.
Good thoughts do make a difference.

I’ve been sick, so I need to pack it in now.

    Sweet dreams.

Hi all – I’m very late to the party tonight – but better late than not at all.

I’m the last to arrive, and I will officially close up shop too.

Had to share: last night I was wanting to attract lead ingots. Today, I’m bringing in 8 ingots a neighbor gave me when I run into 2 more neighbors who ask me what I’m doing. “Hauling lead, and I need more!” One of my neighbors says, “Oh, lead pigs? I’ve got a bunch you can have.”

Now my boat is level, so I can stop leaning to one side, plus I’ve got a few pigs stashed for my next furniture move.

It’s the law of attraction, baby!

    Hi Liz!
Lead pigs? You attract the most interesting things . . . and people.

Glad you’re not leaning anymore. 🙂
