ME Liz Strauss wrote this at 11:28 am

Annie Galvin Teich is a wise woman, whom I’ve known for over a decade. She’s be a friend, a business colleague, and an advisor. In the past two years, she has changed paths and joined us on the Internet. I’ve asked her to share some of what she’s learned in that extraordinary transition.

10 Life Lessons for Reinventing Yourself
by Annie Galvin Teich

Two years ago I was suddenly faced with an opportunity to change the course of my life and career. I’ve launched two businesses and three websites with varying degrees of success. These are some of the things that I’ve learned:

It has been a remarkable journey.

You’ll find Annie at The Teich Group, New Publishing, and Crazy 4 Kids Books.

Thanks, Annie! You still inspire me with what you take from life!

Great list - I especially like the last one. Being able to laugh at yourself really can be therapeautic. And it sure beats the opposite - which can be easy to fall into if you are unable to laugh at yourself. Laughing in general is a great relaxer, and just plain good for the soul.

Thanks for sharing this awesome list!

I like the above comments, especially:

Being able to laugh in general and at yourself in particular is good medicine.

So true, so true. And I’d like to add to:

People are kinder than we think they are. Don’t make assumptions about people. Sometimes they are just waiting to be asked to help. Be nice.

It goes both ways - if you see an opportunity to help without asking, sometimes it’s nice just to offer as well.

    Enjoy,

    Barbara

Great post. I am also on a path to reinvention. And I also work in education. It’s wonderful to read someone else’s experience in making a transition in their career.

Although Annie is staying within education and publishing, it sounds like she is entering an exciting and promising new area.

I’m working very hard to find my new adventure as well. Best of luck Annie!

    Hi Sandra!
Glad to know you’re finding a wonderful path in the world of education. We need teachers who care and understand such things. I’m betting the people who know you grow, because you show them how to.

“It’s all about connections. Your definition of success will morph and change as you meet and learn from others. The opportunities that appear along the way are usually a function of who you know.”

But what should someone do if they dont have connections ?

“Friends keep you honest. They know you; they love you; they support you; they pick you up when you’re discouraged; and they keep your ego in check.”
And about the friends.. In this time people cant trust their friends. My company went down because of them :/
