A Silly Left Right Brain Test

June 9, 2006 by Liz 116 Comments

Here’s a Fun Test

Finding Ideas Outside of the Box logo 2

Here’s a fun test on right and left brain thinking with only a few questions. If you know this stuff you can easily skew it. I tried not to, but I did anyway. We know that I am very right brain. But I also have left brain qualities. I won’t give you my results before you take the test.

Have some fun with it, but don’t plan your life on the results. Click on the title below to try it out.

Right or Left Brained

We all use both sides of our brain and we can develop the side that we don’t use.

as a person that makes a living as a technologist, normally seen as a left-brained role, guess i’m one of the abnormals 😉

I think this is the first one of these that has me down more right brained. Nice find.

    Hi Mike,
I think would depend on what you do as a techologist. If you spend a lot of time looking and working with your hands . . . .

    Hi Joshua,
I’m glad you had fun with this little Friday test. Everyone needs some right brain to balance out our left-brain schooling.

Well just did the test before I turned off the computer for the night, and I got a 50/50 split.

At first this didn’t make much sense, then I thought on what I enjoy doing and am good at (detail, reading, quiet vs. creative, writing, dreaming) and yeah I am a 50/50 split if you stick to the traditional definitions of left/right brain.

Thing is, does this mean I am super-well-adjusted, or even more abnormal than I had already given myself credit for? 😉

The thought of a dream can be transformed into words if the right person has the ability to translate the thought into a coherent post.
In other words, if you can think it, you can write about it.

Make it into a nice post for one of your blogs.

I don’t know how to tell you this.
    I am your wife.

Your purpose in life is to make the world better

You are very socially conscious and a total idealist.
You think there are many things wrong with the world, and you want to fix them.
You have a big idea of how to world could be, and you’ll sacrifice almost anything to work towards this dream.

In love, you can easily see the beauty in someone else. And you never cling too tightly.

You are capable of great love, but it’s hard for you to focus your love on one person or relationship.
You have a lot of outward focus, and you tend to blame the world for your failures.
You are often disappointed by the realities of life – it’s hard for you to accept the shortcomings of the world.

Hi Chris .. did you just reset the DNS name servers? Sometimes, it takes a few days to see the site everywhere. Maybe it’s not just a server problem? I mean – if it is – it’s not a good sign to go down before you begin.

PS: If I may ask .. what made you go with the .net domain? I first went to chriscree.com and noticed – that’s a different chriscree, right? I also notice there’s already a creeations.com. Since you were starting ‘a-new’ anyway .. why not come out with a unique URL?

I had a similar problem. My real name is HARTLEY B SINGER … (I go by just HART online) and guess what – hartleysinger.com was taken by someone else with middle initial E. Bummer. It’s unfortunate that I never really wanted my own name/domain until 2005 .. as I could have registered it years ago. Now, almost all derivations of HART and SINGER are taken. At least, I now have The-Singers.com website as a consolation.

OK. For the record the problem is on THEIR end. They’ve responded promply to my trouble ticket and then again to give me more information. They had a hardware failure and are waiting on a part.

Don’t know what a RAID controller is, but it sounds serious. I vision it having to do with heavily armed guys in camoflauge.

The good news is I didn’t cause the problem and they expect to have everything shiny again before I get back home tonight.

The bad news is I switched to them becaues of the Blogspot outage issues. Talk about hitting a guy in his sesitive spot!

    Ah Chris,
    Ain’t that always the way.
Your hair always looks best on the way to a haircut.

This is a sign that you’ll do well where you’re going. I know it is. 😉

Thanks for letting us know you’re okay!

Oh, and as far as the .net thing goes. I made a judgment call. We’ll see how it turns out.

But I am looking down the road when I have multiple blogs. CREEations will continue to be my blog on “practical life philosophy”. It could be argued that it is a glorified “cat blog”. (ie. let me tell you all about what my cat did today).

That is why I’m not too concerned with the domain not matching the blog title. CREEations has a dual purpose. It is my blog training ground where I am learning both the creative and technical sides of blogging. And it is also a place to express my perspective on holistic life stuff.

And I intend to keep it that way, very personal. So I am willing to pay the price of a little user confusion.

I also have newCREEations.net (and .com) which I will use as an umbrella organization for all of my blogs (with more “unique” domain names) and other business ideas as things grow.

I think your plan makes total sense.
Guess you’ve been reading Seth — cat blog — I think he started that. I’ve never found CREEations to be all over the place.

    Hi Tom!
    Great to see you!

Looks like a lot of right-brain thinkers like to hang out here. At least those who are willing to take the risk of commenting seem to be. 🙂

    Hi Lucy,
I’m glad you found your way out of somewhere that you didn’t fit. I can’t help but wonder what you’re doing now.

    Hi, ME

yeah, i had a hard time in the Art academy.

I love listening to music and going to artisitic events but i find very difficult to do creative things.

Now i’m about to get my degree in Economics. I totally enjoy working with numbers and statistics but sometimes i wish i were into something more technical.

well.. what to say… i guess i was a clueless teenager when i started the art career, but it helped me to learn more about myself.

    Hi Lucy,
Thanks for answering my question. Economics can use both sides of your brain really well. I bet you find a way to be artful at it. There’s music in numbers too, you know. Music is inherently mathematical.

For some reason I felt compelled to take this test again… Perhaps I wanted to see if I’d changed at all since I last answered the question…

My old result: 45% left, 55% right

    My new result: 50/50

Perhaps you should blog about this again and get people to see if their creative orientation has deviated at all in the last six months… I think that would be pretty interesting 🙂

    Hi Jonic,
Though it’s a silly test, such things can change slightly over time. Now that I have help on the blog here, maybe I can do as you suggest. Thanks for giving me ideas! 🙂

There’s a survey to know what is more common, saw her spinning clockwise or anti-clockwise. Here is it:

    Hi Thanks GooHackle,
    And welcome.
I saw that on Randa Clay’s blog, and I was going to write about it. It confirms what I thought about me. Did it do the same for you?

I took the test. It actually is one of the better tests, except for a couple of questions. It was pretty much correct in that I’m 85% right brain.
However, music is mostly left brain. Yes, right brain people have rhythym, and can perceive good music, but auditory and language is primary in the left brain. Left brain are linear thinkers, which is needed in learning cords…as well, as auditory…the ability to have perfect pitch.
Extreme right-brain people, like myself, are left brain blinded and often are tone deaf. Really!
Also, the question where I must choose between algerbra and geometry are both difficult for the extreme right-brainer. Geometry involves shapes, which is easy, but the problem in geometry comes with equasions or symbolic learning..left brain talent.
Check out rightbrainintelligence.com and let me know what you think. Evie

Okay… I think all the quizzes are a load of crap. One test said that I am left brained (though it was very close 51% left and 49% right) and this test said I was right (40% left, 60% right). What am I left or right? Or maybe already answered my question, and I am pretty evened out on both sides.
