Quiet the Chatter
Today when you’re trying to get that last minute work done, and someone comes in to “shoot the breeze,” “talk your leg off,” “chatter like chimp,” or be a “bird in a box.” You might try this.
- Look up from what you are working.
- Slowly glance left and right, as if to be sure no one is watching you.
- Quietly invite your visitor to come close to view your computer screen.
- Then click this link and say, “Isn’t this the coolest thing you’ve ever seen?”
Then just stay silent and stare at the screen. As a bigger treat, you might offer your headphones so that your guest might listen even more silently.

Cute…
J.
It wasn’t intended to be so. On the other hand, if it works on that level for you. I like that too.!
Have you a version I can pipe through the telephone?
Thanks for today 🙂
That would be good one. Silence via the telephone. 🙂
Silence works with slow and slow is so hot right now. Slow food. Slow life. Slow cities. Slow careers. Though I need to find the time to slow down first.
Anthony I really like your take on this one.
Yeah. So is the new fast lane isn’t it.
Yep.
You have this idea thing down. Don’t you?
Well someone has to have the ideas in this world and it might as well be me. Even though most of them aren’t my ideas at least I don’t keep them all to myself. The slow revolution I initially noticed via the slow food thing I picked up from an italian girl and her family who I met last year. Slowing down really is the next big thing.
Well,
You Australians were always better at slow. Especially when it comes to eating than we Americans. So I guess we’ll lose the America’s Cup again. Darrn it anyway.
You know the thing is, we as a country think we are because once upon a time we actually were but in all honesty we are not anymore (how terrible was that sentence). There are other countries that have this relaxed slow life thing much better sorted than us now days. It needs work.
Well, now that you mention it. You did get the cell phone thing WAY before we did. However, you still know you to eat at a much more civilized pace than we do.
shhhh… you are ruining the moment!
You’re right, Jeremy.
Silence Matters.
Thank you for reminding us.
