Linking Up for Dinner

May 10, 2006 by Liz Leave a Comment

Dinner and Conversation

If you could take any blogger you’ve never met in person out for dinner, anywhere in the world, who would it be? . . . Where would you go? . . . What would you talk about?

I would take Charles Kirk, who writes The Kirk Report, out to Culver’s in Minneapolis (he’s from MN). He is a day trader in the stock market – but his blog is well read on Wall Street.

    http://www.thekirkreport.com/

What I’d talk to him about would be:

    1. How he does so much research so efficiently
    2. How he set his office up for maximum productivity (just re-did it)
    3. How he maintains this wonderful balance between working the market – and giving up on the day and going to play golf
    4. How he ended up day-trading and moving to that from whatever job he had.

Now THAT won’t be your typical answer!

It’s a great question – thanks for asking it.

    Scot

    Hey, Scot,
Why not email him your comment? Or should I do it for you?

Actually, it would be better from you, since it will be so out of the blue. He has a contact piece there on his navigation area.

    Thanks!

I wonder whether your link will trackback. I don’t think they do from comments.

Well, there are a bunch of people but most of them live so far away. But hey I’ll play along. I would go to Australia and visit Darren. We could go to a nice steakhouse.

Liz I’d take you out for a nice dinner but I’m sure my wife would get jealous 🙂

    Here’s an Idea, Steve.

Bring your wife along. Let her bring a friend as well, because she’ll get tired of listening to us talk about blogs I bet . . . that is unless she has one too.

    Liz

PS Everyone knows I don’t eat much. 🙂

My wife does not have a blog. In fact, she goes online to check her email every month or so and it is so bad she has to keep re-activating her email because it expires. That’s how often she goes online.

My wife is a Veterinarian so if you have a friend who can talk animals or even a doctor who talks medicine I bet we could convince her.

I think I’d want to have dinner at Darren Rowse’s place and just get to know him and his family. And talk to him about being a dad. And changing diapers.

    Easton,
That sounds fabulous. Melbourne is a wonderful city. I think you would like it there. Darren is a nice man. I bet you would learn a lot from him — I don’t know how well he changes diapers. 🙂

Probably Corey Doctrow. Every blog that guy touches turns to Gold and he has some really interesting ideas on open source content and marketing.

And I suspect he has a pretty good music collection!
