Great Find: YUDU!

Document Elegance

YUDU Media

I’ve been having a conversation about working with a digital publishing company in the UK. So naturally one of the first things I did was try their product. It was of particular interest because of my recent eBook experience and also because I’m always looking for new ways to share information with readers, clients, and friends. After years in publishing, I like to stay current on digital publication tools.

YUDU Freedom is elegant.

Great Find: YUDU
Permalink: http://www.yudu.com/
Target Audience: Anyone who shares digital documents
Content:
YUDU Freedom allows you to publish any document online for free. I did myself and can speak from experience. I uploaded two documents — both .pdfs, 24 pages and 68 pages, both with photos. The upload took seconds. I was able to title and tag my file. The email with the link to my file arrived far faster than I expected, maybe within 90 seconds. The links inside are private unless I choose to share them.

But what impressed me most was the beauty of the result. In particular, the document below was designed to showcase light and space . . . the YUDU enhances the design far more than any other document reader. I hadn’t prepared or edited the document here — for example the Table of Contents isn’t true and I haven’t spent time considering the type font — still YUDU show this work in progress beautifully. Click the screenshot and stretch your browser to full screen to see the entire 24-page document online inside YUDU.

Walking on Water by Liz Strauss - (YUDU Freedom — Unedited Version)

Notice how you can turn pages like a book using the lower corners or like a .pdf using the arrow above. Nice touch. Options allow you to remove the sound or the page turn, if you don’t want to be distracted by them. YUDU has more features rolling out soon. Watch this product.

Really enjoyed taking a look at Yudu view. Page turning is a neat way to view the PDF and it presented it cleanly.

I’ll have to check it out for some publishing.

Very timely and interesting Looks like it could have great potential. Do you know how the pro site works? Pricing etc will be interesting to see how they compare to other sites out there.

Using with a Laptop requires a larger font

    Hi Suzie!
I’ve not spent any time on the PRO site. I’ve been looking at what they’re creating for release. It’s exciting!

As I said about the piece I uploaded. I didn’t make it for publication on the web. But the design is such that I thought it would test YUDU — so I uploaded it.

Wow, this YUDU thing is awesome! I uploaded some of my portfolio work and it looks so much cooler with the page turning feature than a pdf – thanks for the tip Liz!!!

Having a hard time finding focus?

Having a hard time finding focus?

It can be hard to find focus sometimes. A few months ago, I was talking with a colleague who was having a hard time finding focus in their work. They spoke of feeling pulled in multiple directions and of many obligations — both at work and with their family. As I listened, I could hear […]

Sometimes We Outgrow Our Stories

Sometimes We Outgrow Our Stories

The other day I was having a conversation with a friend. We were sharing stories from days gone by about each of our lives. We hopped from one story to the next — based on what each of us were sharing. It was really an incredible discussion as we were each learning from the other […]

It’s Not Your Passion, But Your Purpose

It’s Not Your Passion, But Your Purpose

Everyone feels lost sometimes. I don’t think I know anyone who hasn’t been lost in their head at one time or another — even those folks overachieving all over the Internet. We all find those moments that we wonder about who we are and what we want. But the question is not whether everyone gets […]

Getting Past Fear

Getting Past Fear

I felt the more embarrassing fear of people’s judgment. When I decided it was time to write again, I avoided the computer for the longest time. On the rare occasion that I managed to sit myself down to write, I’d get caught up answering email or reading articles around the web, not doing writing I […]
