It’s Like Open Mic Only Different

Here’s how it works.
It’s like any rambling conversation. Don’t try to read it all. Jump in whenever you get here. Just go to the end and start talking. EVERYONE is WELCOME.
The rules are simple — be nice.
There are always first timers and new things to talk about. It’s sort of half “Cheers” part “Friends” and part video game. You don’t know how much fun it is until you try it.
What do we do when we’re stuck inside too long?

And, whatever else comes up, including THE EVER POPULAR, Basil the code-writing donkey . . . and flamenco dancing (because we always get off topic, anyway.)
Oh, and bring links about cabin fever to share!

Hey Liz,
We gotta get outta this place
If it’s the last thing we ever do
We gotta get outta this place
Girl there’s a better life for me and you
Hi Tim!
Dayoooo!! Dayoo!!!
Joe
I think we’re alone now
Doesn’t seem to be anyone a’ro-ound
Not Carribean Tim, but you get the feel of the weather round here,
I hope that sticks in your mind like it has mine… π
I had McDonald’s for dinner. We drove through a snowstorm to get there!!
2 songs for the price of one!
Liz, Joe – hating this winter. Too cold, too much snow, too much wind, not enough sun.
Did a ride-along with a police officer the other night in sub-zero temps. The company was great even if the weather wasn’t.
What do you guys do to keep from going crazy in the winter?
I went out and stocked up on beer and cigs and milk and bedtime snacks and slipped and slid the whole way there and back.
Oh Liz, how did you know?! Great topic!
I try to get outside as much as I can, Liz. Even though it’s a “winter wonderland” out, just the act of being outside in the fresh air does help.
Everyone is crazy with cabin fever at this time of year. Too much time inside and no sunshine!
Ay Miss Glenda – how ’bout a mambo later?
Liz, did you change your comment setup again you naughty girl?
Now I have to surf to the last comment after I refresh… π
No Joe,
It should be the same.
Who know’s what’s new with this 2.3.3
Good evening everyone.
I enjoy passing my cold, wintry Tuesday nights in stats class. Really gets the synapses firing which warms the soul.
Hi Liz, Timothy, Glenda, Joe. I like to spend time with the Muppets when I get cabin fever.
Tim,
That police ride along brings up a whole new kind of cabin fever. What was it like?
Details!! Details!!
Hey there everyone! Contrary to Eri”k”, I don’t so much enjoy my stat time! I prefer to crank the radio up and get into a hot, steamy shower and sing at the top of my lungs!
All’s I know is that I’ll end up chopping about an inch of ice off the walk tomorrow.
No snow, just ICE!!!
Most definitely, Mr T.
Well, Liz, we rode around a lot, had one run-away teen, one domestic, watched one bar close, and had one business alarm set off (nothing there though). Mostly gave us a chance to talk, which was good since I’m now in editing mode and need material.
Hi Glenda! Erik!! Eric!!!
And Rick!
Music, Muppets, Laughter.
In the olden days folks used to read books by the fireside, then we watched TV . . . now I just talk on my computer all night. Doesn’t seem quite the same.
Tim, Details please, please, please.
[New trick, hit “End” and scroll up to last comment]
Joe,
I’m not having that problem. I keep returning to the bottom automatically. π
Tim,
I thought your new book was about a sports store.
Liz – I’ll tell you the really gory stuff off-line. Wouldn’t want to get me or the police department in trouble by divulging too much. I want to stay in good standing with the men who carry guns.
Hey everyone!
We could use our cabin fever to write a book of our own!
nope, till gotta end then scroll up or it just sits there at the top of the page. Oh well, I’ll get used to it… π
Glenda,
Did you make the govt with they had cabin fever?
Tim,
Did you have to sit in the back seat with no door handles?
You could consider working a beat a sporting event.
Yesterday and today are the most wintry we’ve had this season. Thank goodness we haven’t got the snow you got in the midwest, or the ice it sounds like Joe got today. I don’t even want to think about Canada.
I dug out this post from last winter on dealing with winter depression.
Nope, front seat view the whole time… although I’m disappointed that I have yet to witness a single arrest. Sigh.
Speaking of books, I had a guest post by Barry Moltz yesterday. Pretty good reading.
http://workingathomeinternet.com/WP/2008/02/11/guest-writer-barry-moltz-author-of-the-new-book-bounce/
Liz, having the Internet and digital relationships has helped to make winter manageable, BUT I’m missing interaction with ‘real’ people – no offense. I’ve been out twice this year! Going somewhat stir crazy. But today was half decent, even sunny. I’m cautiously declaring winter over in Surrey!
Hey Rick,
I’m with you, except for the winter sports referee-ing. I could do with a little less “weather.” I remember that winter depression post.
Winter depression maybe that’s why blog commenting seems to slow a bit in the winter. What do you think?
Hi everyone,
finally I get here when the mike is on
just to make you a little envious, went swimming and walking in the sun at the beach this morning.
We havve had some cabing fever here with days of rain- like yesterday and skies about to open again
Tim,
I won’t suggest you commit a crime to witness your own arrest in action.
I want you out of jail for SOBCon08. π
Hey Suzie!
One of these days, I’m going to make it down there and throw water on you for saying that. [grin]
Even you’re winters are nothing to worry about. Come to Chicago and see a real one.
Duly noted, Liz
Although I’m thinking Suzie should be arrested for her “life’s a beach” commentary
Sorry Liz, don’t follow your question in 32.
Liz,
I like your idea (writing a book). I’ve put that down as a longer term goal. I’d love to start writing but I’m lacking a couple things
1) No idea what I’d write (this may be a major component)
2) No idea how to begin, where to start, etc (I guess I could ask a couple the “old pros” like Mr. Timothy Johnson)!
Hi Liz, Timothy, Glenda, Joe, Rick and Eric,
I guess I’d better keep quiet about the [whispers] 71-degree day we had here today. Yikes! I hardly knew what to do with myself. I’m indoors now though and writing a post about environmentally-friendly cleaning products. Doing my best to keep at it but needed a 10-minute break to keep sane. So I’ll pop in a few minutes, go finish the post, and be back again for a Klondike or two:)
Looking forward to seeing you here Liz- I know what winter is like- i lived in London for 5 years!
Evening all!! Getting ice here right now. I am hoping it goes away by morning – too much to do tomorrow.
Hi Suzie, and Eric, and Erik. I’ve been trying to grasp the idea of liking statistics.:)
Re#32
Glenda,
I was just wondering whether you made the world work right with your meeting today.
Eric –
1) write about something you love
2) start in the middle
π
Hi Erica!
Feel free to break out the Klondike bars. The rest of us are too light deprived to find them in the sidebar freezer. π
Eric, you could always hire Mr Tim as a ghost writer (but you still need a story to start with. π
Rick,
It’s nearly impossible (okay, for me it’s entirely impossible)!
I love crunching numbers, but not when it’s a “have to.”
ah, that meeting is Friday. Stay tuned. I’m trying not to stress about it, too many other opportunities are popping up.
Erica – you are SPOT ON with both points. I actually started in the middle with my current book, and the rest of the writing went so much more smoothly. It was like taking all of the pressure off. Chapter 1 wasn’t an issue because chapter 6 was already complete.
And Eric, you should already know about the first point, as much as I harped on the importance of passion to you last semester.
Hello everyone!
We got 2 kittens recently – they are good at making me forget about the weather.
Hey Trisha! Hey Char!
How are the new twitter accounts helping with cabin fever
Hiiiiii, everyone! ::::sprinkling sand:::: Margarita? Pina Colada, anyone?
I’m staring at a picture of a sunset off the Caribbean. If this snow doesn’t disappear soon, I will go stark, raving mad.
Erica,
Thank you for the advice!
Tim,
Yes, I know….It was your “passion” talks that inspired me to blog.
Maybe it’s the winter that has stalled my passionate side!
Eric – two words – oil patterns. . .
Char and Erica – hello!
Or you could mine your blog, Eric.
Liz, will there be any more to the Bookcraft 2.0 series?
Helloooooooo everyone! The cure for cabin fever? Go to Mexico!!!
Tim (re: #55)
Yup. It’s also how I did my book. Now I think starting in the middle is the best way to do most things:)
Karen,
What do you mean you WILL GO there?
Ahem. The Karen I know, well um er. π
Where is Tim’s Passion talks to be found?
Oh Brooke!
That Mexico trip! I’m thinking about you on the beach again!
Hey Karen! Fancy meeting you here. Finished being a taxi for the night?
Joe,
Ghost writing….I like it π
Rick,
I’ve been thinking about that quite a bit lately.
Erik,
You just set off my passion for bowling π Now, everyone may have to sit through a 2 hour lecture on bowling ball coverstocks, weight blocks, synthetic lanes vs wood lanes, chamelion vs scorpion oil patterns….Whew…I better stop!
Only 2 1/2 more weeks!!! Drinkin matgaritas, pina coladas – whatever!!!
I’m off to go finish that blog post. You all don’t realize it but you are my accountability team tonight — thank you!! Now that I’ve put it on the line, I’ll be back to let you know I did it. See ya later:)
Suzie – my “side job” is teaching at Drake University (home of Master’s champion Zach Johnson and the best men’s basketball team in the Missouri Valley conference). In my leadership class I get on my soap box about having passion.
Erica – I keep becoming less linear every day… go figure. It was so liberating to start in the middle, even when writing a business fable with a plot and story line. The only rework that occurred is that I originally wrote it as chapter 5 and had to push it back a chapter when I had more material up front.
I went there in October with the whole family. I wish I was there now! This winter is really getting to me this year.
Suzie,
You have to take a grad class with him (also the occasional email)
Hey Karen… what’s the latest on Steak and Shake? I haven’t been out to your blog recently to find out.
Hi Karen,
Winter would be fine, except for the cold, snow, wind, ice, slush, gray skies, storms . . . Did I say snow?
I see:)
Timothy–well, they’ve just informed me that they’ve hired a lawyer. Nothing else. Looks like we will have to file a lawsuit if we can’t get them to move nicely on this. π I’m just asking them to purchase a $700 Order Assist system for each restaurant.
Liz,
Weird,on XP which is where I am now, seems to be working normally. On Vista (on the laptop) it seems to be all kookey…
???
Told you it wa weird. ;-]
Karen,
How many steak and shakes are there in total?
Mr T, Karen rocked when I interviewed her about the milkshake fiasco last week – http://www.doitmyselfblog.com/2008/deaf-mom-karen-putz-featured-guest-at-readers-cafe
Suzie – check out Steve Farber’s Radical Edge, it’ll save you from sitting through Tim’s class
Hey Glenda, looks like this is our “hang out” place now. π
Done being the taxi driver, the chef and the personal shopper.
Karen, keep us posted if Steak and Shake acts too horribly. It would be a shame to have to kick some blogospheric butt on such a popular restaurant, but if they can’t play by Liz’s rules and be nice… well… then…
My computer is real slow now – takes quite a few minutes to refresh this page. I’m doing some backups in the background to start getting ready for my new laptop. (I decided on a thinkpad)
OMG Karen, a lawyer?? What the heck for? To serve a milkshake???
Erik – “save you from sitting through Tim’s class” … was I that bad??? π
Just think, Liz. Spring will come. You’ll have that beautiful view of the lake, and the sound of the Blues Brothers in the back of your mind. It’s all good.
Rick,
That is some lovely thought!
I was actually thinking that if I have to, I’d beg y’all to blog the heck out of it if they don’t come up with a reasonable solution. So it just might come to that. I just came across and article that a blind woman is suing McDonalds, Taco Bell, Burger King and Wendys using the ADA. It may go to a jury trial.
Tim – Just checking to see if you were paying attention. . .
Just what every teacher wants to hear, Erik. π
Karen,
When will you know if the court is a real deal? Do you have to do arbitration?
Erik – after the speaker I brought into your creativity class last week, you might want to watch your back π
I’m planning on reading blogs tomorrow night while my undergrads are taking their exam. Can’t wait to hear the commentary.
The kids are trying to convince me that they will have a “snow” day tomorrow and asking to stay up longer than usual. I’m guessing it is going to warm up over night and they might get a one hour delay – max.
Eric–there are close to 500 restaurants.
Ah Char,
A snow day, moms never get them do we?
I am behind you, Karen. This is so ridiculous, as you said before, if the guy had served you even after being a jerk, the thing would over. By them hiring a lawyer, that escalates things. When will people get it? At least boiling blood keeps us warm!
No snow days or sick days for Moms. Ah, to be a kid again!
Liz– I’m not sure at this point. I do have a lawyer from Equip for Equality who is handling this. He just asked them to respond so that we can discuss this further. If there’s no action, then I will have no choice but to file.
I’m with you Karen and Glenda,
I just don’t understand how folks get to be so unforgettably unmoving.
Tim – I’ve got firefighters and EMTs to counter your DCI folks.
And I could always escape from John via the Des Moines River.
Now, Liz, there is one advantage to February and it has nothing to do with the weather… VALENTINE’S DAY
http://carpefactum.typepad.com/my_weblog/2008/02/dating-my-daugh.html
Karen,
So that’d be $350,000. Seems to me that would be fairly minimal for how you were treated. I can’t believe they are getting lawyers.
As a side note, I found a lot of other “dissatisfied” people….check it out
http://www.topix.com/forum/indy/TJON36AHAFTAUVV14
My kids are weird! They are campaigning for extra TV time tonight to watch Tivo-ed episodes of Sugar Rush (Food Network) and Mythbusters.
Suze, Do Check out Steve Farber’s book. It’s one I recommend all of the time. π
By the way Timothy– thanks for that great blog post on it!
Back soon, must finish yesterdays post, so much for keeping track!
Especially when you compare them to what Karen shows that Culver’s has done. $350,000 chainwide to remedy the situation. Fairly inexpensive for such a large chain.
My pleasure, Karen. If you want any more blog coverage, just let me know. I think I can work the whole “hire a lawyer” thing into a post on office politics.
I can haz interenets, who cares about cabin fever!
Eric–ouch, doesn’t look too good for Steak ‘n Shake, eh? I only went there for the shakes–have only had their food once before.
Thanks for coming Suze!!
Hey Todd!!
Welcome!!
Ok, hang tight, let me see what their next move is and if it isn’t a good one, then I’ll be asking you all to blitz the net. I am so determined to make some changes that are positive ones.
Hi Todd!
MythBusters sounds like it’s worth staying up late for, Char.
Hi All, this is my first time commenting here. π I live in the northern US, so it’s very cold and snowy right. We did have a heat wave today…it got up to 14 degrees. Big excitement. You said to bring links, so I’ll share a post I wrote a couple of weeks ago on beating the winter blahs. Interestingly, a lot of it involved food. Lol. I let the kids invent lunch one day, and I believe we had peanut butter and marshmallow sandwiches. Anyhow, here’s the link: http://www.gnmparents.com/beating-the-blahs/
Karen-It does look pretty bad doesn’t it? You know, I had never tried them, and had always wanted to, but now I am ABSOLUTELY NOT going to give them my business.
I can be stubborn if I need to be, and I am behind your cause 100%. Keep on them and Good Luck!
(is ABSOLUTELY NOT giving them my business too harsh?)
Hi AmyL, and welcome.
Sugar and peanut butter. What can beat that? π
Hey Tojosan!
Hi AmyL
Beating the blahs is a great idea. I bet Tim does it with a broomstick.
Eric, well, you can always stop by and give the manager there a letter as to WHY you won’t be giving them your business and ask them to make changes in their drive thru access.
Actually, Liz, I prefer beating my blah’s with a flash-bang device.
http://carpefactum.typepad.com/my_weblog/2007/09/things-that-mak.html
Thought: last May 1st was Bloggers Against Disablism Day (http://www.doitmyselfblog.com/2007/blogging-for-inclusion/). I assume it’ll repeat again this year. We could all blog about Karen’s story then to give her more exposure. What do y’all think?
That would make a great blog meme.
How do you beat your blahs!
I like that Tim, a flash bang device!
It’s cold here near St. Louis, and blustery too boot. Not sleeting at least today. Makes one want to stay inside and curl up with a good book and hot cocoa. Or in my case, a nice warm computer and iTunes.
As for bad service, we’ve had to blackist Denny’s. Yes, I know, they are like America’s diner, but when they have bad service and cold or worse food more than three times in a row, they’re outta the game.
Lately though, Steak & Shake has been making poor service marks on my visits. No longer is it the home of them waiting on you like you’re important. Now it’s more like you wait patiently to be payed attention to and don’t complain about the dirtiness of the store, or they’ll ignore you and not bring your food. π
Great suggestion Karen! I will do that. I’ll keep a letter in my car si if I do drive by one, I’ll stop
Proactivity beats complete stubborn abstinence any day, doesn’t it?
Hey Todd!
The last Steak and Shake experience I had left me with over-large art images of ice-cream sundaes on the brain. I absolutely can’t stand their “art.”
Talk about being prepared. My wife often puts stamps and envelope in the glove box, just on the off chance of needing them. You’ll find pens and a few dollars as well in our cars. One never knows when the need will arise.
When the winter blahs hit, I start planning my escape. It’s part book-reading, part film-watcing (indulged in Dirty Dancing of all things last night–haven’t seen it in decades) and part vacation planning. Seriously looking forward to England and Wales this September.
Oh, and when all else fails, I give into the kids, take them outside, make a sled run and build some rather unique snowpeople. Abbey made “snow dogs” today with her dad and if she left me any decent snow with which to work in the yard, and I can find a plunger, I wanna make a “Snow Dalek” tomorrow that can exterminate the rest of winter for me.
Stumping for myself to get the free ride to SOBCon08. Check it out here please.

@Tim: flash bang devices! That WOULD be fun. I have 4 boys…no quiet days around here. Well, probably not that loud, lol. I could see trying to explain that one to the neighborhood association. I do plan to use the Menthos and Diet Coke trick this summer and make a few pop fountains. That doesn’t make much noise though.
I am soooo loving Oovoo! Just had a conversation with the owner of Inclusion Solutions a few min ago!
Hey Amie!
I can see you out there making those snow people with those kids of yours. Too cool!
hi AmyL
Watch out for our firecracker, Professor Tim. He’ll have you dancing in the comment box any minute. π
Hey Karen Putz!
I was just thinking about last year when I asked you if we could talk on the phone. π
ooVoo is much fun. The mac client needs some work, but I’m expecting they’ll get that wrapped up soon enough.
Coke and Menthos – I’m sure they’ll understand, especially with the boys. Tell them it’s good clean biodegradeable fun.
Todd,
I just clicked all of your links again. π
Thanks Liz!
I’m excited about SOBCon08 but it sure seems far off. Lots of work to do before I get there.
Hey Liz, we can Oovoo now! Are you on there?
when life gives you snow… make snowmen
I threw 5 mentos into a 2 liter of Diet coke in our company parking lot last summer. It was a pretty big office hit (except for the few employees who had to wash their cars π
BTW – Diet Coke works a LOT BETTER than regular Coke
I’m trying out oovoo this weekend. Hoping to check out Drew and Gavin’s Age of Conversation conversation.
Just added you Liz on ooVoo.
I have yet to even get oovoo to sign up properly on my mac. Last time I tried it kept getting stuck mid registration process. Really bummed because I wanted to go to Laura Fitton’s seminar this afternoon. Did anyone else make it there?
Finally got the kids to bed. The roads are not fabulous – hearing reports of people stuck on I-95 for 5 hours! My husband waited it out at the office and just left. He’s taking the long way around hoping that the roads are better that way.
Hey Karen,
I’m on there, but I just got my webcam today. I had to get one because I’m doing a BlogTV show with Kevin Dixie tomorrow. π
LOL, and I hope your co-workers forgave you. Yes, I heard about Diet working better than regular. There’s a guy who invented a sleeve that you can attach to the top of the bottle and release the candy in just by yanking a little peg out of the way. The boys don’t seem to know I’ve gotten it yet. I’m looking forward to the surprise.
whew! I’m back in the nick of time!
Thank you for the accountability help! You have covered lots of winter ground since I left at comment 70-something.
You are all stars at the end of my post now!
http://www.wellnesscoach.com/earth-friendly-cleaning-products-wellness-product-reviews-part-4-of-4-138.html
Ah Char!
The road tales bring back memories of last August. BTW, Peq quit her job. She’s looking for a new one . . . customer service, operations, IT, and warehouse
There are some great videos on you tube! But that would take a lot of time to set up!!
Eric,
Have you seen the Sarah Silverman and Matt Damon video?
Annie,
Got the Mac client working with no real issues. Sorry to hear about your experience.
The I-95 drive is so bad we heard about it here in St. Louis. It made the news. π
If anyone is up for learning Glenda-ish, I may be tempted to try oovoo – once I get a haircut!
Liz,
No I haven’t. Would you be willing to “point” me to it?
Of course, I could probably search for it just as easy, huh?
I’ll check it out. Thanks Liz.
AmyL, flash-bang devices are fun until one is detonated 6 feet away from you. You can actually feel the concussion. But that’s all part of the joy of being a SWAT photographer. And I wouldn’t trade the adrenaline rush for anything. (And the SWAT team provides me with eye and ear protection.)
@Todd Jordan: it could have just been a temporary bug or something wonky on my end.I’ll definitely give it a go again tomorrow or just grab it for my pc. The value of the content is too high to write it off without another valiant attempt on my part.
I hate to say good night, but I’ve found I have more to do this evening. Stay warm. Stay dry.
Fare thee all well. π
Thank you, Liz, for a wonderful evening.
Okay, Eric, but don’t let Tim know.
When I said, “dirty pig, dog bastards” he was taken aback. I’m not sure what he’ll do if he sees I led you to this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnVJZkDuVBM&feature=related
Hey Glenda! Good to see you and I’ve got to add you on ooVoo straight away.
How is life treating you?
Hi Aimee, Nice to meet you. Where was Laura’s seminar? Live or virtual?
Have a good night Rick!
Have a great night, Rick!
Thank you for coming!
Liz – Is Peg looking to stay in the same basic area?
Eric, I think you will really enjoy that one, I lost the link or I would give it to you.
But beware, you will be rolling on the floor and it will be difficult to type from that position. π
Hey Tojosan, things are looking up!
Yeah, Char, Peg would love to stay near her grandkids.
@Annie good to hear. You have Leopard? Several folks were complaining of issues with Leopard. Don’t feel bad; beta can suck.
Wow, Twitter love tonight. just picked up two new contacts.
Thanks Liz…I will probably wait and view it when I get home (after class)!! I probably shouldn’t have the volume on in class!!
I suppose I better get going as well. Got to head home! It was a pleasure as always. I love spending Tuesday nights with all of you!
Thank you for the Great Conversation, and Liz, thank you for being a great host!
Hey Eric,
Shoot me an email after you watch it.
Good to hear Glenda. I’m finally shaking this dang cough/cold i’ve had for over a week now. Yuck.
Fingers a flying tonight too. Got Twitter, and this going, as well as been commenting on other blogs in between. Fun night, and I’m not even totally caffeinated. π
http://www.myoovooday.com/signup.php
She’s Pistachio Consulting (there’s a ton of other good stuff going on at oovoo)
Hey Joe!
I’m thinking we need to do aliens and sci-fi next week.
Tojosan, glad you’re feeling better. I’ve missed ya on Twitter lately.
Glenda, you can text on Oovoo too!
See you next week Liz. Off to dinner and then mindless sudoku playing (not an oxymoron, the stuff really helps me de-stress:)
thanks for hosting, even amid the winter chill. You’re the best.
Unfortunately, I have a migraine starting to encircle my noggin like a hell-bent wagon train, so I think I need to call it a night. Nice meeting lots of new folks tonight. Be well, stay warm, and don’t spend all night on youtube!
Todd – that is the way Open Comment Night is done best! I’m not sure I am following all the Open Comment regulars on Twitter yet. I am Char on Twitter for anyone I may have missed.
Bye Erica!
Thank you for coming!
@Liz I’m in for aliens!
@Glenda for sure. I’ve slowed the Twitter tornadoe a bit lately. But man, once I’ve totally shaken this thing, watch out!
BTW, I’m going to SOBCon08 – check out the contest they are having, and help me win. http://tinyurl.com/2mfuqs
I’ll email you Liz.
ALso, I forgot that your spam protector doesn’t like my twitter username and personal email account name, so I’m guessing my last comment is sitting in moderation. I was just trying to let everyone know my twitter account name.
Good night everyone. Hope to “meet” some of you on oovoo soon.
Thanks for hosting, Liz.
Liz, I do have an unflattering pic of Al Leon but I have to dig it out. We can do Dr Who, StarGate, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Ghost Hunters, I think the list is too long to put in one comment…
You know I’m in. π
Awesome Tojosan.
And thanks Karen. How is oovoo different from skype??
Eric,
It’s not in moderation either. It must have gotten totally eaten. π
I haven’t tried Skype so I’m not sure…
Heading to bed–goodnight everyone! Sweet dreams of sunny, warm days ahead! (Except for you folks in the southern states, I’m sending some snow your way! π )
Night Karen!
Amie,
Gosh, hope the migraine is better. I sure know about those. π
Night, Karen!
Well, I’m on my own for dinnertime tonight, so time to go wash a yam. Thanks Liz!
Wait! No Klondikes tonight? It’s not open mic night without Klondikes! Hmmmmm
Amie – ooh, I hope you are feeling better soon. Migraines are just no fun!!
Glenda,
They’ve been in the sidebar and I offered our warm weather guests an opportunity to pass them out to us light-deprived folks. Here take home some of your favorites. π
π Thanks Liz, you’re such a sweetie!
Hi all… sorry for the prolonged silence… got roped into getting girls ready for bed… been a wild week in the Johnson household the past 72 hours.
I don’t know what to say bout
Cabin fever and the winter blues
But it’s cold and dank and slippery here
With ice an inch thick, but that’s not news
Liz in Chicago as more snow than can
Be shoveled without boots over your shoes
But our friends down south seem to be warm
And have the sunshine for which we do wish
So expect us yanks from the north
To visit your house, so make a great dish
We’ll have to have Klondikes of flavor
Some strawberry and chocolate and pina colada
For in the springtime when up here is green
You can visit us, til then asta monyona.
Berma Shave
Nite Liz
Nite All
I’m calling it a night too. Thanks for hosting Liz. Catch you online for sure.
Last plug – help me win the SOBCon08 contest, visit my blog and click the links to SOBCon08’s site.

Great poem, Joe!
Good luck on the conference Todd. I clicked on your links for you.
Tim,
I’ve been staring at the idea of you tucking the kids into bed for this whole time. . . . and the 72 hours comment has my imagination going.
Well, everybody, I’m off to bed as well. Until next Tuesday, Liz.
Good night, Joe,
Sleepy Swell!
Night Todd!
I think you stand a real chance of winning that SOBCon contest.
So Amy L
I hope it was what you expected. π
π Sure, it was great. It’s a little nerve-wracking to speak up on a blog that’s so much bigger than mine, and to jump in with people who seem to know one another well to boot. Everyone is very friendly. You’ve fostered a great community here. I’ll be back for next week….love love love sci-fi!
Ah Amy,
Not a worry, you fit right. Perfectly. π
Just heard the garage door open – means husband made it home in one piece – in just under two hours. Going to go warm up his dinner.
Talk to everyone next week! Hope the weather is nicer then.
Hola!
Thanks Char, for being here.
Thank Troy, for stopping by.
Another wonderful night in place we call Successful-Blog.
Okay, here is a past post I did for “Fawnskin After Dark” we live in the mountains and really do get cabin fever–the result? Some of my posts!
