It’s Like Open Mic Only Different

Here’s how it works.
It’s like any rambling conversation. Don’t try to read it all. Jump in whenever you get here. Just go to the end and start talking. EVERYONE is WELCOME.
The rules are simple — be nice.
There are always first timers and new things to talk about. It’s sort of half “Cheers” part “Friends” and part video game. You don’t know how much fun it is until you try it.
Bright Lights, Big Cities
Everyone has been to a big city that is unforgettable. Which one is yours? Do you have more than one?
-
Rome
Paris
London
Istanbul
Singpore
Sydney
Tokoyo
Chicago …

And, whatever else comes up, including THE EVER POPULAR, Basil the code-writing donkey . . . and flamenco dancing (because we always get off topic, anyway.)
Oh, and bring pix —

What is Tuesday Open Comment Night?
Hi Liz! Are you packed for your trip tomorrow?
Hello Liz! Hello Delaney! Thought I’d come back to where it all started, at least for a little while. I’m in very cold Billings MT today.
Favorite cities: Hong Kong, Paris, Brugge, Budapest, Prague, London, New York City, San Francisco…how many do I get to pick?
Hi Terry. I’m in St Petersburg, FL. Guess you don’t want to hear it’s 85 degrees here right now.
Hi Delaney!
Just finished getting ready!
Hey Terry!
Great to see you so soon again!
I was just trying to figure out what Amazon did to my quiet astore of social media books.
Liz, Are you one of the speakers at the conference in Vegas?
No I do not. 🙂 My fav cities: Chicago, New York, Paris, Portland OR, Denver, San Antonio, San Francisco, London, Madrid, Boston, Milwaukee, just to name a few.
Delaney,
Tell me about Brugge.
#8
Yep, I’m on a marketing panel on Friday afternoon in Vegas … not one of my favorite cities — too hard to navigate.
I missed U. BTW, can you put 10 bucks on the pass line for me in Vegas? I’m good for it. 🙂
My favorite cities:
Chicago,
Sydney,
London,
Dublin,
New York,
San Francisco
Singapore
Paris
We had great time in Brugge-rented bikes and rode outside of town along the canals, saw tulips and windmills, drank breakfast beer…
Hey Terry!
$10 for you … if I’m near a table I will.
Hi Liz, Terry, Delaney – thought I’d stop by and chat. Figuring it would be warmer here in “OpenCommentville” then it is in cold, gray, rainy, stormy SF Bay area. Plus you guys are more fun than additional layers of warm socks:) And thanks Terry for the Twitter reminder to pop in.
Hey Erica!
You’re warmer in SF I bet … than we are in Chicago. I’m looking 45 degrees F
Hi Erica – Hey, at least SF has shown up on all of our “favorite cities” lists! And it can’t be colder there than here in MT- it’s freakin’ 30 degrees here! 🙂
Hi Erica, Nice website…I need to spend more time there taking your advice. Been working way too hard lately.
Thinking a trip to SF and up to Napa Valley soon might be the ticket to reducing stress!
Now I need to go into that 30 degrees and head for a dinner engagement – Liz, Delaney, Erica, you all be good, take care, and keep the faith!
Liz, tell us a little about the marketing panel you’re on. Talking about social media?
Hey Delaney,
I’m with you … a little Napa Valley would be a nice way to spend a few days now.
Liz & Terry – you win, hands down (I’ll send the $10 to both of you:) We can not complain here when you both are below 50. But for us, 5 inches of rain in the last 24 hours has been something to watch. Friends in Santa Cruz are on the evacuation list. It’s not pretty:(
Ah Erica,
I know about that –
too much rain on too much concrete is bad combination. The water has no where to go.
Evacuation is no fun.
So where would go if you had a month to go anywhere now?
So back to the joy of bright lights big cities. What light will you be shining on that panel, Liz?
Hmmm…a month…back to Italy? Greek Isles (not been there) Small island somewhere to relax and maybe finish my novel! You?
Hi Erica!
I’ll be talking about finding communities … that’s what they want to hear about. How to find your next friends online. 🙂
Delaney,
I’ve heard wonderful things about the Greek isles … also about Bali!
I think I might go to Bali first.
but back to Italy is a real temptations.
Oh Delaney – Italy. I’d go there. Tuscany I think. I’ve never been, though I have a mural of a Tuscany vineyard on my dining room wall. complete with olive trees. I go there often in my daydreams. Think next year it’s time for the real deal.
Liz, I sure hope you mention Open Comment night as a great place to be a part of a community.
Erica,
I rented a villa in Tuscany with 5 girlfriends for my 50th bday-certainly the way to celebrate!
Erica,
Did you know that Open Comment Night is older than Twitter? heh
Delaney,
I bet that Tuscany villa is packed with the best memories!
So Open Comment Night was the original Twitter? I could see that.
Yep…and a few dozen empty wine bottles…
Delaney,
I can imagine the conversation. THAT’s a community. 🙂
Delaney – okay then! Renting a villa will be what I look into – got a good lead on one to rent?
Liz – Heh is right. Just how old is Open Comment Night anyway? perhaps a birthday party is in order. Not just Klondikes. Maybe a villa celebration in Italy:)
Erica, I found this one on vrbo.com
Erica!
What a good idea!
I’m thinking a villa in Italy is always in order.
Successful-Blog’s birthday is next week … Open Comment Night’s birthday is May 9th
I’m back to working on book chapter (using social media to market digital products).
Liz-hope to talk to you in the morning. Have a safe trip.
Erica-nice talking-I’ll be back to check out your website. Good luck with Italy trip!
thanks Delaney. btw, see that you are teaching class on Diversity on 10/17 – if you would like an intro, I can hook you up with my friend and colleague (from my days in OD and mgt consulting), Julie O’Mara who is a Diversity expert (author of several books, chapters, etc.) – great person – may have ideas if you want them nd it’s not too late.
Liz, I’m off to fill out an absentee ballot, cook dinner, & do laundry – all before Shark Tank is on (my new fave show:) Good luck on the panel, safe travels. Thanks as always for the hospitality.
Ciao;)
Good night, ladies!
Off to get ready to go to the emerald city …
Erica,
Would love an introduction-am lining up speakers for class-can do via SKYPE. I’ll email you.
Have fun, Liz!
Thank you, Delaney!
Madrid. No argument. 🙂
You know what is funny? We were just in Iteland for the first time this summer and Dublin shocked me by how much I loved it.
Here is my set of Ireland faves from all over, but if course a bunch from Ireland. I am a freelance photographer so I had an amazing time shooting the trip.
