What I First Said . . .

That brilliant idea guy, Kirk M, over at Just Thinkin’ has a brilliant idea. Go on over and read about it. Click this title to find the information.

Republish Your First Post a Friendly Challenge

I know I spent hours thinking about what my first post might say and cropping the photo.

Without further conversation, here are my first words to the blogosphere.

Gosh, they still seem appropriate.

What did you first say when you got here?

I can’t thank you enough for joining in, Liz! And I guarantee your first words shine all that much brighter then they even did back then.

It seems like you’ve always been here. :D

I am still the same too! The following was my first ever post, published on Oct 2005:

“I remember feeling the same enthusiasm I am feeling right now about ten years ago. That was when I got my FIRST personal computer. I learnt about this gigantic network called the “Internet”. I learnt about the basics of “email” - what CC and BCC stand for. I learnt about MIDI files. I learnt about ICQ and mIRC. In fact, I remember staying up to the ungodly hours every other night just to chat with friends (and strangers).

I also remember vividly the days and nights I spent designing my FIRST personal homepage. Only God knows where my “homepage” is now :) I remember clocking up about 84 hours per week learning and sourcing for HTML codes and JAVA scripts to customize my homepage.

And then there’s FLASH. Need I say more?

Ten years later, this is what I am doing now. Repeating the whole cycle of learning and sourcing for blog codes, CSS, you name it.

For how long will I be able to sustain the enthusiasm? I have no idea :)”

I am now learning the basics of CSS and PHP and I spend a lot of time on my blogs! Some things never change, huh?!

    HI Liz,

I think my first impression on coming to Successful Blog was “Fascinating, Captain”. Still feel that way!

How funny, Brian Gardner just asked a similar question on his blog! I’ve not been around too long (only a month) but here’s my first post: And Now, The Moment You’ve All Been Waiting For…

I chose that title because although my blog is only about a month old, I’ve actually been in the blogosphere reading, commenting and guest posting on other’s blogs since about May 07. Right from the start I made friends with Tara (Graphic Design Blog), David (Airey) and Vivien (Inspiration Bit) and they started asking when I would start my own blog. I think they waited patiently for me to pluck up the courage to take on my own blog!

    Hi pelf!
You and your enthusiasm are, indeed, contagious! It’s true, for lifelong learners, some things never change. :)

    That’s wonderful! :)

Take care of those turtles. :)

    Hiya, Joanna!
Thank you, for point that out!
You would think that I, of all people, would remember to include a hyphen when there’s supposed to be one. . . . So sorry, Kirk.

    It’s fixed now.

What makes you so outstanding is that in such a little bit, you’ve already made such a meaningful contribution. You are a special one. :)

My first post was just talking about the making of my blog/site. Gave a little info one the hosting company, plugins, etc.

My second post is one of my top 10 popular, based on google alone and has to do with creating vision boards in order to motivate yourself to achieve your goals. I guess that’s the first real post.

    Hi Alex!
No suprise a first post is often about such things. I’m just a writer and didn’t know enough to have my own blog. :)

    Hey Lauren,

Your blog title has got to be one of the best I’ve heard in a long time. I swear I could hear the announcer’s voice when I stopped by to take a look (nice roses by the way).

    May you fly! :)

Hehe, thanks Kirk (and thanks for the welcome over on my blog)! I’m quite pleased with how my little corner of the Galactic Network Interweb is doing, especially for only being around for a month.

And thank you, Liz! You can always brighten my day and make me smile with your personal attention to each commenter (especially me!) :D I still need to put that SOB badge on my blog! What an honor!

New bloggette-er here. This was a great prompt - My original blog and it’s ideas from then ( 3 months ago) are completely different from what’s happening at my blog now.

I had attempted a 2 week pilot with the premise “what are YOU making for dinner? ”

That was my very first post. http://bestwellnessconsultant.com/2007/06/06/a-whats-for-dinner-blog.aspx

I had no idea if I had the ability to post daily. That was all I originally planned to do - talk about making dinner. Share recipes. But then I had 4 years of nutritional writing and I thought maybe these ideas and concepts should be on my blog too. And then I had these little stories inside of me and tips on being green and I just found I couldn’t share or seemingly type fast enough.

I also was such a blog virgin. I had just an inkling of the community. Which as it expands is really really amazing to me.

I commend Lauren for steeping in the community first and collecting support - how encouraging it must have been to get all those comments on your first post - lovely blog by the way - speaks to my “I am a closet graphic designer soul”

I had NO idea I had so much to write about or say. The expression has been remarkable.
