Links Leaked on the Favorite Foods
Sandy wrote this at 10:00 pm
. . . And There’s Recipes to Share
Yep. Tuesday Open Comments Night was a regular potluck this week. Plenty of food, recipes and stories to share . . . we talked about buffets, feasts, cooking, baking, recipes, cookbooks, Asian food, Indian food, Mexican food, fruit, veggies, fish, chicken, beef, eating in, eating out, chocolate, comfort food, ice cream, Klondike bars, champagne, cookies and cocoa, yogurt, licorice, smoothies, cakes, donuts, coffee, cheeseburgers, pizza, sushi, eggnog, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese with extras, running out of food in Seattle-land, okra and rice, cheeseballs with crackers, hash browns, etc. I even heard some mention of spam.
The Link Leak Virus was with us as well. — The Link Leak Virus is a special strain of the indie virus with blogtipping mutations that occur in threes and keeps Open Comment Night a link free-for-all.
Here’s some of the links we shared.
- curried butternut-squash soup.
- secret favorite cookbook
- holiday card
- photos of the storm damage in Seattle-land and a recipe for Apricot-Glazed Chicken with Dried Plums and Sage
- chicken salad in whole-wheat bread bowl
- website URL

Y’all had such a good meal. I’m sorry I missed it.

HART - if you want the recipe to turn out just right, you have to use Heinz Chili Sauce - it comes in a jar on the shelf near the cocktail sauce. Just a tip…
I am planning on trying your chicken salad recipe too.

Char .. that’s not my chicken salad recipe .. it’s from Weight Watchers! But still good! I’m only famous for my chili and pasta recipes
Although I’m not sure how this turned into a “Foodie Feast” but, if Heinz chili sauce is the preferred recipe, I’ll have to go shopping next week and get it to follow the recipe.
Chris… I never received any email from you .. what addy did you send? Try hart (at) PetLvr (dot) com … / I’ll get it there for sure~

Liz .. (re:comment 4) .. It’s funny, but it was only yesterday that one of my clients was featured in our local newpaper for publishing his 5th paperback book (this one was about great but little-known moments in Canadian sports history), for children.
My wife - out of the blue - said .. “You can do that .. write children’s books .. that is if you quit blogging” // Go figure.
I think she was just buttering me up for christmas though.

Hey, you guys, who’s cooking dinner tonight?
HART, no worries, I’ll get you started on the children’s book . . . you can make it from a blog!!!
Nneka said
Well, I don’t really cook, but I’m heading home for Christmas and I’m requesting some okra and rice. If anyone wants to try it here’s how.
1. Boil the 1 pound salted pig tails until they are cooked. Keep the salted water for seasoning the okra and rice.
2. In another pot sautee okras (1 frozen package) and pumpkin (1 cup diced), with black pepper, goya seasoning, garlic, onion, and chive.
3. Boil that mixture until okra seeds turn pink.
4. Add meat, rice (1 1/2 cup), and 1/2 cup of water from pig tails.
5. Cook until rice is cooked.
Unfortunately, I don’t really have any exact quanities because we eyeball.

Hi Nneka,
I don’t cook either . . . too late to start now. Maybe you still have a chance.
Thanks for the recipe it sounds like something I could almost handle, if I could get myself near the kitchen.
New foods are great to try!!
(PS — I’m so curious how to pronounce your name.)
