The Mic Is On: We’re Talking About Comfort Food!

ME Liz Strauss wrote this at 7:00 pm

It’s Like Open Mic Only Different

The Mic Is On

Here’s how it works.

It’s like any rambling conversation. Don’t try to read it all. Jump in whenever you get here. Just go to the end and start talking. EVERYONE is WELCOME.
The rules are simple — be nice.

There are always first timers and new things to talk about. It’s sort of half “Cheers” part “Friends” and part video game. You don’t know how much fun it is until you try it.

You know, those foods that make us feel good . . .

Here’s a few ideas to get us started:

milkandcookies.jpg

And, whatever else comes up, including THE EVER POPULAR, Basil the code-writing donkey . . . and flamenco dancing (because we always get off topic, anyway.)

Oh, and bring links about comfort foods to share!

I have a wonderful no bake xmas fruitcake made with graham crackers, marshmallows, walnuts, brandy and stuff. Squish it all into forms. Leave it for three months while you pour more brandy over it. When it’s ready, slice very thin to eat. Wonderful.

Glenda, back from lunch! Sorry for leaving like that. My place of work is in Makati, too. Where’s your uncle?

Hi Liz! I always miss the open mike sessions due to the huge time zone difference. But I’d still like to talk a bit about comfort food. It used to be chocolate and now it is just whatever I crave for when I’m feeling down. It sometimes involves cooking and other times just a short trip to the supermarket. Nirvana ice cream always work and I have also recently discovered a nice Italian place with the most amazing Melon Glace I’ve ever had (what else would you need besides fruit, ice cream and a few drops of alcohol) :)

    Alina,
It all sounds so . . . but that Melon Glace — I know that. You’ve brought me some wonderful memories. Thank you. I’m smiling. Thank you. :)
