The Mic is On: We’re Talking TOP Tens …

ME Liz Strauss wrote this at 7:00 pm

It’s Like Open Mic Only Different

The Mic Is On

Here’s how it works.

It’s like any rambling conversation. Don’t try to read it all. Jump in whenever you get here. Just go to the end and start talking. EVERYONE is WELCOME.
The rules are simple — be nice.

There are always first timers and new things to talk about. It’s sort of half “Cheers” part “Friends” and part video game. You don’t know how much fun it is until you try it.

You know - Top Ten Lists of Everything!

We might talk about:

10 on billiard ball

And, whatever else comes up, including THE EVER POPULAR, Basil the code-writing donkey . . . and flamenco dancing (because we always get off topic, anyway.)

Oh, and bring links to TOP Ten Lists to share!

Basil is the code writing donkey from Canada.
He likes martini’s and can stand on all fours with little effort while writing the most complex code you ever saw, (unless you use Blogger).
He sent the DVD;s of Fawlty Towers round the world on a whim.
They got lost somewhere in the former Soviet Union, never to be seen again.
Other than that, he’s just a code writing fool.

I’ll have to pick that one up, Angela. It’s going to be hard to top his Think Like Leonardo book, though… really plays well to the crowd… it and the Tharp book are generally the favorites.

Although I had one student last spring who thoroughly disliked Twyla Tharp’s book (highly unusual outlier). She’s very highly disciplined and regimented (which plays well to the left brainers). He felt like she was yelling at him through the pages. Go figure.

and a green haze on the south-sloping hills.
Clouds rode over the mountain….At dusk,
I took the blanket in, and we slept,
    restless, under its fragrant weight.

Good night Angela, Tim. Have fun in class.

I hadn’t heard of Jane Kenyon before.

I found some of her work on line.

Now I’ll have to get a book.

Lists of ten, there were so many
What we want and need a plenty

On to Left Brain and then the Right
All our thoughts seemed to take flight

No matter when you came in
The Klondikes never did run thin

    Once again the conversaion flowed
As always the words just glowed

I hope everyone had such fun
It shows in their smile like the sun

Now it is time to say good night
And don’t you let those bedbugs bite

Top 10 reasons I need to say goodnight:

10: I’m pooped! (ok, I’m always pooped, lol)
9: My hands are starting to cramp from typing poetry.
    8. The small son is teething and if I don’t go now, I might not get any sleep.
    7. I wanna sneak in a wee bit of yoga before bed
    6. If I stick around, I’ll see more email in my box that needs to be attended to, and we don’t want that, now, do we?
    5. I should probably tidy the living room before I do my yoga and crawl into bed, which pushes bedtime back even further
    4. Uh oh, I think the baby might be stirring (although if he does wake up, he’s DH’s problem unless DH can’t get him back to sleep, in which case he becomes my problem)
    3. Oy, it’s late!
    2. I have an early appointment tomorrow
    1. It’s with our dear hostess ;)

and so, dear list makers, I bid you all good night!

By the way I wanted to write about ten reasons why I love my wife and then she got mad and said ” that’s it, just 10 reasons ” and went to bed. I better get off the computer and find about 50 more :-(
