So what are some habitudes bloggers could adapt?
Evening All! Are we ready to talk about learning??
Hi Liz- great to be here tonight! Are you tired from all this learning? Or..do you have the Habitude of perseverance?
Hey Angela,
Perseverance — tenacity — is one of my own.
All of them! Great bloggers embody all the habits and attitudes of great communicators and learners.
Great bloggers are:
Imaginative, passionately curious, adaptable, courageous and unafraid of pushing themselves and their readers, and persevere past writers block and new challenges!
Which Habitude to you attribute most for your success?
Is hugging a Habitude?
Hi Liz and Angela:-) Hugs to ya both
Hey Mike-
Absolutely! Big hugs to you friend!
Was just catching up to some of the other segments. Some great learning going on here today
I have been reading the archives-I agree! What a day!
Ah Angela,
I think you gotta be curious to be imaginative. But those two hang with me, after the tenacity. 🙂
Hi Mike!
I think the Habitude of Imagination is a key to successful blogging. And one that Liz is super strong in…it takes a lot of SCAMPER to keep content and community fresh, yes?
It’s sort of like…how do we take something good and make it great….heck, how do we take something awful and make it great
Agreed- with out questions…learning ceases.
and that’s Imagination and Curiosity combined….Imaginosity?
So what’s your favorite HABITUDE type of quote, Liz?
Liz- how’s your week? What projects are you working on?
Hello, I just found you on Twitter.
Now this is cool – new words! Hi Liz, Angela and Mike!
How about you Angela? Favorite quote on Habitude-type stuff?
Mike- I LOVE it….Imaginosity!
My favorite is of course from my hero, Albert….Imagination is more important than knowledge!
Hey Starbucker?
Terry! Hello there!!
Angela, it doesn’t surprise me that one of the best learners of them all is your hero. He’s one of mine too, that Albert.
Angela,
My week is filled with exciting projects. Just got back from BlissDom09!
There’s a new word for you boys!
how goes it? what’s your favorite habitude? and how does one become literate in today’s social media/business blogging world?
I will teaching a 12 week lesson “learning in a digital world” to 4th and 5th grade gifted students. They have been so trained to produce written products which are used as a summative assessment. Blogs are more formative assessment tools, indicators of the learning process. How do I go about addressing the difference with these students?
Hey Angela, what exactly is a Habitude?
Terry- we are talking learning and blogging Habitudes. What are the habits and the attitudes that you possess that make you such a success?

Hi Rose Ann!
Welcome!
Sorry you were stuck. They were railing me with rhymes beyond reason. 🙂
Hi Rose Ann! I did not see you up there at #18!
Do I really have to constantly refresh to follow the conversation?
Hey, Angela, I can’t stick around, but I just saw your tweet about the conference and wanted to pop in to ‘eavesdrop’ here for a sec. I’ll be back tomorrow to see what I’ve missed. 🙂

Here are 10 I believe have carried me to this point:

#27 Jeff – great question!
Two of my first lessons with students both on and offline are about audience and purpose. So often kids write mindlessly-
I teach them that good blogging is about having a clear purpose-
What is my topic, what do I want to say about my topic, how can I say it in clear and powerful ways
Blogging is also about audience- who are my readers, what is the value I can add in their lives? What can I do to not only inform, but engage them in a conversation
Hey Angela! Great to have you in the conversation- even for a second!
Great point to Jeff, Angela. The fact that more than just the teacher is part of the reading audience…well, that makes the writing much different (and better). Now the student/writer is thinking not about what pleases the teacher and simply pass, but what does the whole audience want…yes?
Terry- you sir are a walking talking Habitude! This is GREAT! http://www.terrystarbucker.com/2008/09/05/10-secrets-to-success-revisted/
Let me ask you this? Did you get any of these lessons in school? On a regular basis? Were these important success and life Habitudes apart of your learning life as a child?
Rose- it gets easier with practice! It is sometimes hard to keep up! Hang in there friend!
Great for page views tho:-)
Jeff- where do you teach?
#38
Wow, that’s a great question. I think it was a combination of things – but I did start my “learnings” at a very early age – my mom was very nurturing of my curious nature, like putting newspapers in front of me at age 4. 🙂
Terry- Nice! You are lucky! I am passionate about getting this conversations into the classroom. Many students do not have great moms like yours, and helping them understand the success is more than a test score is critical!
::: I feel like I’m in the school library ::: Sshh – no typing

What a great goal – making the classroom a laboratory of discovery and the uncovering of learning passions. Go for it!
Angela,
What kind of teachers have you been seeing lately? Are schools cutting back and making them work even harder?
I’m teaching at a gifted center in Pensacola, Fl.
Sorry guys- my Firefox shut down. Just catching up!
Liz- Still working all levels. Today I was with literacy coaches all day- tomorrow withe 100 preschool and headstart educators, and end the week with HS! Never a dull moment in my life!
Jeff- Does your district support you in trying new things like blogs? What is your PD like? Are most teachers on board like you?
Jeff- are you on Twitter?
#50
The district has a 27 page AUP. That may give you some idea about the district’s “support”. They would like everything to be inside Moodle. To me, there is very little difference between Moodle and Hanging papers in the hall. most teachers are overworked. I don’t think anyone in my building has heard of Twitter. There are a few trying to move ahead, though.
Jeff- unfortunately this is all too common! Are you on Twitter?
You can follow me @angelamaiers – would love to hear more about your course!
#52
@jeffmason on twitter.
Having said all that, there are people at the district level trying. Ttying to support things with the use of interactive boards, doc and digital cameras, etc. Networking beyond the walled garden, not so much.
Liz- thanks for having me! I have loved the hour. Looking forward to checking out the archives and all the good conversations I missed!
See you all on Twitter, and for those who could not make it live tonight and still have questions:
You can reach me angelamaiers.com
or Twitter me @angelamaiers
I do follow you on Twitter.
Next to RSS, I guess twitter is the strongest component of my PLN.
Twitter and all IM is blocked in the district. Twitbin (beta not 2.0) gets me around the filters.
I will probably develop the course as a wiki.
