chemistry?
I think six degrees of separation really should be many paths of connection.
Every person connects to the next one. Every person I meet connects to you and to me. Each person brings a path to what we all have in common. Those paths connect us in network of humanity. Every path goes to who we’ve been and who we might be.
I look for high roads we’ve strayed from and backyards where we chase clouds and stars. I see weight of crowds with heavy loads that need setting down. It’s hard not to respond to one person’s journey. Every journey is about how alike we all are.
Humanity is brains and hearts seeking each other out. One human thought, one human feeling jumps a synapse of air to bridge the gap between two human beings. We call that chemistry.
I can’t help but wonder . . . if we valued our paths more, could we create more positive chemistry?

It’s amazing the quick chemistry you can create by sitting with someone for 1 minute and ask them what they like to do.
At my latest SkillPath seminar, I met someone in my industry that works across the bay with one of our sub-contractors: instant conversation content!
We may have completely different political, social, and religious views, but for that one moment, we had something to talk about.
Hi Liz (Hi Jesse – how are you – long time no see)
Funny. Was explaining my feelings about progress just the other to my dear friend and mentor and used the analogy of having climbed a hill – well, that’s a path too isn’t it?
During the climb upwards the only thing we see is the next (little) step. But once we give ourselves time to stop and look back we can admire the new view from the place we’ve (finally) reached. Looking back on all those obstacles we somehow, some way managed to ‘overcome’, tackle – having had a helping hand here and there and everywhere.
That’s IMHO when we value the path most and also value the positive chemistry it produced (in ourselves, in others, between all of us)

Hey, Karin!
I’m doing just this side of perfect, as they say. Work and school are keeping my out of trouble, but busier than ever.
My wife and I are looking forward to our weekend stay at a Fort Myers beach resort this weekend to celebrate our first anniversary… now for a paper gift… 🙂
I for one am enjoying the view from where we are, as you commented. It was a long climb, but what a sight!
“One human thought, one human feeling jumps a synapse of air to bridge the gap between two human beings. We call that chemistry.”
We might call it blogging too – well the way that some of us try to do it anyway, inspired by our chemistry teacher (was that what you used to teach?)
I love the picture by the way – couldn’t resist flying over and stopping to chirrup with friends for a moment!
Joanna
Hi Jesse
I’m with you on the same sentiment: what a view!
Happy anniversary and happy days this weekend, after that long climb you deserve a ‘breather’ 😉
Karin H.
Hi Jesse! Hi Karin! Hi Joanna!
Looks like there’s plenty of chemistry here! 🙂
Great to see all of you!
Jesse, you have such an open curiosity. That you bring out the best in the folks you say hello to. It doesn’t surprise me that you find something in common with someone who appears to be very different from you.
Yeah, Karin,
We do need to value the going there together more than the getting there, because once we’re there — then what?
The adventure and the learning is, as you say, in the obstacles we overcome, the helping hands here, there, everywhere, the chemistry along the way.
Hi Joanna!
You could say that I taught chemistry . . . it was offically called “first grade” (6 year olds). But chemistry was one of my favorites classes.
I love the picture too. 🙂
Jesse,
Happy Anniversary!
Talk about chemistry. 😉
Thanks Liz!
You’re welcome, Jesse!
