Change the World: One Choice Decides

Go On and Do That

Change the World!

Ever watch someone building a dream? Ever wonder about building a dream and catch yourself thinking, I wish I was meant to do that?

Why would some people get to have their dreams and other people have to go without?

It can’t be luck. It can’t be money. It sure can’t be smarts. Look around. Those things don’t decide who gets what.

How would a universe choose which stars get to shine and which don’t?

Is it that some people know their dreams? Deep in our hearts, don’t we all? We did when we small enough to still dream big, giant dreams. It’s in ourselves. It’s in our hearts. We know.

Ourselves. What’s so scary about going after a dream? Is it the self in ourselves? Is that the question, the word, that stops us from being who we are? We can’t be ourselves because of our self?

Self-directed doesn’t mean self-serving. Self-determined isn’t self-absorbed. It isn’t selfish or self-centered to be who we are.

Truth is, we give our self to a dream.

What’s the difference between the person who changes a dream into reality and the person who looks on?

One changes the world.

We can change the world — just like that.

I never had much sympathy for people who made excuses for not following their dreams–until I realized I WAS one. When I was younger with more energy, there wasn’t the necessary time. (All those adorable kiddies toddling around…) But with them grown and gone, there was plenty of time–and much less energy than I’d bargained for. We have to realize that there is NO PERFECT TIME to live a dream–that is, except right NOW.

I can only speak for myself of course, but the person who turns the dream into reality enjoys the journey towards the goal - including the set-backs.
The ‘onlooker’ only (IMHO) sees mountains, rivers and other obstacles in his/her path, so never starts the journey - too much ‘hard work’ of climbing, going round, finding a way through, over, under the obstacle. And missing out on all the discoveries along the way.

    Kristi,

You’re so right about now being the only time to act. I think the key difference between those who turn dreams into reality and those who don’t is the ability to face one’s fears and act right now - and keep acting right now until you get there.

    Hi Kiristi!
I had a similar experience I didn’t know I was having a problem until I started to realize that great ideas were going as fast as they came.

    Not anymore!

    Hi Karin!
What a lovely picture you drew with your words! What an even more in sightful point you make. We can’t get there unless we go there. We can’t learn and enjoy unless we go. :)

To change the world around us, we sometimes have to change the world within us.

The hardest thing about having a dream and making it a reality isn’t the improbable or impossible dreams. It’s about having the conviction in it and the faith you have in yourself to see it through.

Sometimes though, we are alone in pursuing our dreams. It doesn’t mean though that the journey itself would be a solitary one. I know, I’ve pursued my childhood dream for far too long and no matter how many people mock me, it’ll just give me one more reason to keep going.

Maybe I’m just a little cynical about it, but maybe I won’t even reach the end of my quest to change the world, but at least I can say I did it and I loved it and maybe, just maybe, I can leave a legacy behind for someone else to finish what I started.

    Hi Edrei,
It’s true about changing the world within . . . because so much of the world around us is how we see ourselves and our place in it.

Realizing that some people seem to get in everyone’s way, including their own. Knowing that the universe doesn’t conspire against anyone.

Things like that, which you already know, keep us moring.

You’ve changed the world already. :)
