What Could You Achieve If You Had a Dream Team Working On Your Business?

March 26, 2012 by Liz 19 Comments

TIME and 144 People Looking in the Same Direction

TIME.

People say time is money.
People wish for time to focus, expand, and true up their business.
People dream of time to fortify the infrastructure and prioritize with wisdom.
Yet, time is the great equalizer.
If Time is money, it’s because TIME is only resource we can’t get more of.
We can’t make more. We can’t go back and re-live it.
And in that way, how we spend our time is proof of our commitment.

What Could You Achieve On a Working Retreat to Fuel Your Business?

Suppose you could take a weekend retreat away from the noise of running your business. What could you do with a weekend devoted to articulating your most attractive mission, identifying the exact strengths of your unique position, analyzing how to leverage current conditions to support your growth, applying command decisions to raise your returns and attract ideal customers, and analyze the networks and systems that will create your strongest communities,

It’s not just a supposition. We do it every spring at SOBCon.

A few folks have asked me to outline what they’ll find when they walk into the room that is SOBCon. The first thing you’ll see is 36″x72″ rectangular meeting tables with executive chairs around them surrounded by a tenth floor view of Michigan Avenue. Then you’ll see lots of people smiling with the excitement of knowing what’s coming, because it’s something special to share a weekend …

  • to focus entirely on your business strategy and action plan
  • to work with the support of a mastermind team who is serious about doing the same thing.
  • to get quality time to interact with the best names in online business
  • to hear connected strategic content AND get twice as much time to immediately work out how apply it
  • to share ideas with sponsors who share your commitment
  • in a room that only holds 144 people — all focused in the same direction — growing successful businesses
  • with highest efficiency because it’s free of commercials and the food and the wireless provided are outstanding.

It’s a one-of-kind chance to grow your business exponentially and explode your network.
But don’t believe me, ask the folks who’ve been there. You’ll find them at the #SOBCon hashtag on Twitter. Check the SOBCon program.

A weekend with Chris Brogan, Tim Sanders
Angel Djambazov, Liz Strauss, Terry Starbucker, Rick Turoczy, Carol Roth Gary W Goldstein, Laura “@Pistachio” Fitton, Steve Farber, Rick Calvert, Charlie Gilkey, Kathy Burdick, Les McKeown, Shashi Bellamkonda and so many others. — 144 person dream team.

Are you serious about succeeding?
Are you ready to start Creating and Leveraging Opportunity?

SuccessfulOnlineBusinessCon

What could you do if you had a dream team working with you on your business?
We’re all coming for the same reasons — the lasting returns of deep networking relationships with other successful businesses.

Hope to see you there!
Be irresistible.

This is a great idea, I wish I could participate. We are always running around the clock and finding time to solve all kinds of urgent issues. No time to plan, to work on strategies to do mindsharing. Your blog is very interesting and useful. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas.

I know exactly what I would do.

    1. Have a team dedicated to SEO optimization on my current website platform.

    2. Have a team dedicated to Social Networking and community communications

    3. Have a team dedicated to Content generation.

    4. Have a team working with all three teams focused on marketing and connecting all content together.

    5. Spend all of my time generating quality original content and working with the community without the worry of generating SEO, marketing or promotion.

Liz – Sounds like an awesome retreat from the work day and an intensive workshop with some great take-aways! The list of participants is especially noteworthy. So how would the workshop benefit someone like me, who does not operate an “online business”.

LOVE your idea! I’m an MBA’d business professional, who decided to stay home when I had a preemie son, then another 3 years later. 😉 No regrets at all, but I’ve been trying to become a successful general blogger for a while, and a team like this could REALLY impact the success of what I’m TRYING to get done. Love the idea and could see a lot of businesses and projects benefiting from a team like this.

I think it is a brilliant idea to take people out of their normal work environment and away from pressures of phone, email etc. If you want clear blue sky thinking, it always helps to provide a clear blue sky! What a luxury…

I enjoyed reading your post Liz. I would say the points made are a telling example to your success.

I cannot begin to imagine what could be accomplished but I’m sure it would be unbelievable, based on the fact that I do know what could be simply accomplished with a couple extra set of hands.

If I had 144 uninvested consultants looking over my shoulder – I could probably sell more baby shoes and baby shoe patterns if I was able to step back and see things objectively.

Not sure I can make SOBcon but I am sure it will be fun.

    Cheers,
    Roger

When I think of the impact SOBCon has had on not only my lives, but those who have benefitted from my time “in the room” with these brains, I am truly humbled.

Beating the clock is a fool’s errand. When I think of the investment in my time, nonprofit and future of those days spent with the SOBCon team, I think of Abraham Lincoln’s quote about cutting down a tree. Paraphrased, he said, “If I was given six hours to cut down a tree, I would spent the first four sharpening my axe.”

    SOBCon is sharpening your axe.

    Hi Liz,
Amazing as always. I wish I could attend. Unfortunately I can’t but maybe sometime in the future.

I think it’s really important to schedule time away from your business. Not only does it allow you to clear your head, taking a few steps back helps to see the forest from the trees. I completely agree.

Thanks for always sharing your insights and wisdom. In a sense we all get to participate in having you as part of our dream team.

    Dear Liz,
    Great question!
I think that with a dream team, I could organize a global ban on commercial use of nuclear power and save the global economy thanks to renewable sources of energy with hundreds of millions of new jobs and an economic boom like the boom that happened 60 years ago thanks to the Marshall Plan after WWII.
In this UN year of sustainable energy for all and also following March 11, 2011 a scenario without commercial use of nuclear power could become reality.
And I think that with a dream team, I could achieve this goal faster and better.
Have a great and happy weekend!
    Best
    Lucas

A conference I should look into. If I had a dream team working on my business I’d have them streamline the processes we have in place.

    Thanks!

Thanks for sharing this….your ideas and the good question…..Yes! It is a known fact that without a team work, it is difficult to achieve anything in this world….Alone a Ruler, could not have won War/Wars, alone a Bill gates (though his ideas are his own)could not have reached the position, where he has reached, alone any businessman for that reason cannot achieve what he wants…so there is always a team in the midst if you really want to go to the top….this is feel, and i would work wonders in my business if i had a dream team working on my business….Thanks Liz…

Having a hard time finding focus?

Having a hard time finding focus?

It can be hard to find focus sometimes. A few months ago, I was talking with a colleague who was having a hard time finding focus in their work. They spoke of feeling pulled in multiple directions and of many obligations — both at work and with their family. As I listened, I could hear […]

Sometimes We Outgrow Our Stories

Sometimes We Outgrow Our Stories

The other day I was having a conversation with a friend. We were sharing stories from days gone by about each of our lives. We hopped from one story to the next — based on what each of us were sharing. It was really an incredible discussion as we were each learning from the other […]

It’s Not Your Passion, But Your Purpose

It’s Not Your Passion, But Your Purpose

Everyone feels lost sometimes. I don’t think I know anyone who hasn’t been lost in their head at one time or another — even those folks overachieving all over the Internet. We all find those moments that we wonder about who we are and what we want. But the question is not whether everyone gets […]

Getting Past Fear

Getting Past Fear

I felt the more embarrassing fear of people’s judgment. When I decided it was time to write again, I avoided the computer for the longest time. On the rare occasion that I managed to sit myself down to write, I’d get caught up answering email or reading articles around the web, not doing writing I […]
