Beach Notes: Seeing Creatively

June 20, 2010 by Guest Author

One of our favorite beaches to walk on, which is also a bit risky to swim at, is Froggy’s, so named because someone about twenty years ago noticed that one of the many rocks looked like a frog and painted it accordingly. The paint seems to get refreshed from time to time.

We think it shows someone’s creative imagination.

Do you see creatively? How does it change your view of the world?

Beach Notes: Changing Views

Walking on the path this week, past what we call Froggy Beach we saw a new view. The changing shape and views of this small beach frequently surprise us.

The view this day, was like a Japanese Zen Garden, the rocks so inviting as a place for contemplation. I could see myself meditating there, listening to the sounds of the sea, refreshing, rejuvenating……… – Suzie Cheel

Beach Notes: Catch the Wind

One Sunday afternoon, walking on nearby Kirra Beach, we came across a group of kitesurfers, or kiteboarders. It was a blustery day, with the wind whipping up the waves. It was fascinating to see how, to get the kites in the air their owners had to exert a huge amount of energy and strength. Then once the kite was up the wind gave it dramatic power. The board rider’s task then was basically to manage and steer, but it seemed the kite and the wind were in control of the speed and direction.

Business analogy? Starting a business we have to expend a lot of time and energy. Our goal will be to get our business to a point where it can “catch the wind” of the market, with us then having to steer and manage, but ideally without all the huge effort we expended to get started.

Yesterday we were greeted at Rainbow Bay with this colorful assemblage.

Another one for our ephemeral art beach collection.

What have you got to boogie about?

Beach Notes: Surf Temple

surftemple

There was a big surfing championship recently at the famous Snapper Rocks surfing break at Rainbow Bay, where we walk and swim most mornings. Coming upon this black, cylyindrical structure on the reef, early one morning just before the big event stated, we thought it looked like a temple.

A temple to the surfing gods?

Actually it was a tower built to provide a vantage point for the people filming the event.

Then again, given the semi godlike status some of the champion surfers have in these parts, maybe the temple idea was not so far off the mark.

What’s the vantage point in your life?
