Ode to Easton the Blogtipping Man (Part 4)

September 30, 2006 by Liz

Part 4 of 4

Easton was dressed in a nice clothes — not college-kid rags,
But his clothes were a cloud of Technorati tags.
His backpack was full of compliments for handing out freely,
He was a blogger, on a mad posting spree.

His words-how they tickled! His remarks, oh, how insightful!
He could devise a surprise that was truly delightful!
Blogtipping was a phenomena, an artist’s creation!
Throughout the blogdom, blogtipping was now an occasion.

Yet Easton, the Blogtipping Man, didn’t know,
That bloggtipping day, we wait for him to show.
We know he’ll come to leave that one comment,
To say that he saw it. We wait to see what he says!

He slides into the comment box leaving a word,
And next thing you know, only laughter is heard!
Easton says: “Good job. I guess, it’s all in the wrist,”
And you wonder, Where does that guy get lines like this?

Then he springs to his blog, to his fans gives that smile,
And he’s gone before you can say, “Come back in awhile.”
But I saw him post once in very tiny, fine print,
“I love blogs. I love blogging. I love bloggers!
(and I just made you squint)”

Dream Homes Invaded by Link Leak Virus

September 27, 2006 by Liz

Imagine Your Dream Home

Open Comment Night began in a lovely way. Doug and Joe and AdLib started talking and shortly thereafter the talk of magical exciting dream homes started showing signs of the link leak virus.

The Link Leak Virus was to be part of every home we described — even Phil’s famous Gerby Shak! The Link Leak Virus is a special strain of the indie virus with blogtipping mutations that occur in threes at Open Comment Night they become a link free-for-all.

Welcome to all of the new folks who came. It was great fun having you!

Cool links were shared.

  • the real estate bubble
  • something that would be home to HART’s Dream House.
  • Rainbow Dome Home
  • Joe’s Jet 1 and Joe’s SR-71
  • Views from a Dream Home
  • Whale Skin Hubcaps — quicktime
  • – more reasons why you should be in a union if you don’t own the company
  • isle of eriska
  • 5 minute meal

Just a Bunch of Dreamers

Douglas came in talking of McMansions, but they weren’t for Joe who dreamed of
a two-part building for his dwelling.
AdLib told of a Dungeon of Doom or the World’s Largest Library, but Joe wasn’t buying. He said it could take as many 11,005,247 comments to get his house back — no telling.

The pace picked up after that.

Dossy brought news of the housing bubble about to pop.
Kirsten decided that one dream house was no place to stop.
Phil’s imagination carried everyone away to adventure land
Start reading at comment 47 and you’ll understand.
Renée doesn’t need a new dream home. She’s got one.
Ben just sold his. So, he’s looking to find another one.

Rick has his dream home planned with a skycar also.
Starbucker will be dreaming his days away in the mountains of Colorado.
HART gets the real estate mantra location, location, location.
A log cabin is Mike’s ideal permanent dream vacation.

Christine will be on a river in the woods.
SeanRox seems to think the house he’s in is pretty good.
Becky wants real wiring and closets that aren’t too small.
Samuel thinks after all his homes this one is best of all.

cat’s had dream houses and is surprised that a city now has its charm.
Whimsperation wants to build downtown homestead farm.

Me? I just want to live in a luxury airplane, flying to see all of my friends in their dream houses everywhere.

Links Leaked All Over the Cars!

September 20, 2006 by Liz

Vroom Vroom Leak

In an amazing turn of Open Comment Night events, as soon as we started our cars they started leaking — even our new friends from askpatty couldn’t help. It seeems their vehicles were leaking the most links all night! It’s as if the cars WERE the link leak virus.

The Link Leak Virus was to be part of the whole operation, whether we were Mother Teresa, Mark Cuban, Lucille Ball, or Donald Trump. The Link Leak Virus is a special strain of the indie virus with blogtipping mutations that occur in threes.Things quieted down as our engines warmed up.

We still told some wonderful car stories.

Cat woke to Tanks and a coup. She’s in our thoughts.
HART says never ask a police officer fo an ID.
It’s a Birthday for Designers Who Blog

Welcome to all of the new folks who came. It was great fun having you!

Vrooom, Vroom Summary by Rick Cockrum

What Rick writes makes us all sound so interesting. I think we should do this again!

Liz our hostess once again,
Open mic once more begins.
Tonight it’s cars and highway travel,
Women and garages, the pain unravels

Breanne is first, she made our day,
Working with women and the web she’s not shy
With dogs and cars she loves to play.

Douglas stopped in for a glance.
Of American cars he is derisive,
European luxury is his vision.

Susan came for a while,
Click and Clack make her smile.

Jody popped in with statistics galore
Of cars and women she can tell us more.

Kirsten has good luck car shopping,
But mechanics can really get her anger hopping.

Cat’s in the middle of a Thai coup,
No TV, no phone, with tanks all around,
Communication through the net is still sound.

Katiebird tells us of her great scare.
A truck has attacked her
With never a care.

HART has stories that are really quite grand.
We can’t help but say
HART, You’re the MAN!

Scorpia rides a taxi and walks a fair bit,
But storms are around her,
She returns to her cave to prevent getting hit.

Joe makes us jolly with his verse wit
The women console him,
They say they won’t nip.

And Candice is the sys-op, Ferraris her bag
Stuck in an Accord
Made her quite sad.

Seanrox loves his Mustang, he’s built for speed,
Laptop in one hand, pizza the other,
He rides through the land,

Ben drives up in an old Mazda.
He says his car sucks,
So The Great Big Small Business Show was noted.

Trisha watched House before she came.
She couldn’t stay long
Due to rather bad neck pain.

Renée sold her car and wanted advice
On what car she should get for the tall and the short,
Abby wrote in and called for divorce.

Meikah sang a song about strong inner pain,
Fast cars and freedom, our childhood dream.
That leads to life that our parent’s life sang.

Starbucker’s hearing the train’s lonesome wail,
Life has been good, he’s seen his family and then
Phil, his main man.

Tony picked our collective minds,
About a problem with driving as our ages do climb
We had little to say, the law doesn’t help,
We just cross our fingers, and in time cross that line.

Becky’s car broke down,But she still brought the drinks.
Happily married she’s in a small town.
Her spouse the mechanic, she cures computer hijinks.

Christine made it in at the end of the night,
But her wifi wouldn’t last,
She had to take flight.

And Easton had Arny, a little Geo
With tires like cookies,
The car finally had to go.

AdLib slept in for once I should say
But day or night,
He can’t stay away.

And Alvin, though clueless
With cars as it seems,
Has a brother who sees them fulfilling his dreams.

And finally we end , sixteen hours in,
Hendry Lee with a Wow! You talk like the wind!

Rick, you are the special one. Thank you so much for doing this again! thanks to everyone who participated!

Link Leak Virus Overtakes Parallel Universe!

September 13, 2006 by Liz

Everyone Knew the Time Warps Weren’t the Only Thing

If we could have as many lives to be as many versions of ourselves as we could be, what might we become? The outer limits of Successful-Blog had that conversation and weird musical sounds were heard coming from every category in the sidebar. No one actually said that an extraterrestrial would be a choice, but . . . some thoughts in that direction seemed to come up.

The Link Leak Virus was to be part of the whole operation, whether we were Mother Teresa, Mark Cuban, Lucille Ball, or Donald Trump. The Link Leak Virus is a special strain of the indie virus with blogtipping mutations that occur in threes. But we were in a summertime frame of mind.

Welcome to all of the new folks who came. It was great fun having you!

  • with our new map for this election cycle.
  • David Seigel, the guy with the black belt in chocolate

What Actually Happened?

And this week Rick Cockrum of Shards of Consciousness found a creative way to tell the story of last night’s event.

AdLib is happy just as he is
Fresh bread close at hand, hair down to his chair
His blog back in biz, and music filling his air.

Joe is a lawman,
A wookie for real
Protecting us all with McGyver’s great skill.

Scorpia, too, is content
As she already is
Everyday fantasy is already her biz.

Liz directs song and the dance,
Electronics begone.
Children, flowers and writing Is where she belongs.

Renee comes in singing,
Dancing dog in her arms.
Man and canine alike, she soothes with her charm.

Christine’s in Missouri
Her ballads filling college breeze.
She stopped and said hi before the clock made her flee.

Chris Cree is traveling,
A hero in the stars,
Humming Led Zeppelin, escaping storms in his car.

Seanrox cooked at the barbie,
A feast he laid out
While being James Bond with a bottle of stout.

Douglas dropped in among us,
Just to say hi
Then time warped him away, away to fly.

Ben plays great hockey,
And cartoons on the side,
With Basil his donkey, round the world he does fly.

Starbucker wings in
Home from the West,
Song and dance in his soul, with his wife he does rest.

Cat steps in for a moment,
Still fuzzy with sleep,
Tea in the morning, as to bed we softly creep.

Tony’s in a time warp, two hours behind,
Somewhere he is starving
Drawing comics so fine.

Phil zips by so fast
Pac-man behind him
In a kung-fu world Donkey Kong races past.

Wendy said it was fun
From time zones away.
In the alternate world she stops by to play.

And Ellen pops in
With a comment from home
She read the discussion as a way to be grown.

So another mic closes
It was quite a feat.
We think of you often until the next week.
— Rick Cockrum of Shards of Consciousness

Thanks, Rick, for that great summary! Thanks Everyone, for coming!

September 6, 2006 by Liz

It Was Summer Again

Summer breeze made us feel fine, rolling through Open Comment Nights. The fish were jumping and the cotton was high. . . .

Starbucker, we knew we’d see you in September — but once again the evil/good link leak virus had Successful-blog leakng. The Link Leak Virus is a special strain of the indie virus with blogtipping mutations that occur in threes. But we were in a summertime frame of mind.

A Lurker’s Report

Here’s what happened according to Marti Lawrence, comic and author of “Queen Klutz – The Misadventures of a Very Clumsy Woman.”

We didn’t start the choir
They were always lurking
Since Liz has been working
We didn’t start the choir
But she let them write it
Let them open mic it

BBQ, BBC, post today, BB King.
Portugal and summertime.
Labor Day and Techno ring.
Business talk is so sublime

Ben and Joe and Ricardo.
Where did triple w go?
Churchill, Stalin, beer is cold. Beach Boys songs and Toronto.
Who are you? Librarian. What’s your take? Sectarian.
Scorpia and Ricardo. Summer breeze, Wiki blows.

Doobie Brothers, Vacation. Tony, Norway, location?
Moon landing in ’69. Rick and Chris, cubits and stones.
Douglas, lawyers, coloring. Conservation, telephones.
Come on in, the talk is fine. Would you like a glass of wine?

Bloglines, law, embarrassment. Conservation and the Cubs.
Roy, Florida. Tivo, sand. Politics? Everyone shrugs.
Eureka,.beach, mosquito. Renee, dogs to the vet go.
Sky and Basil, olives, Cat. Katiebird, bed? Please say no!

Hungry, Tom, lunch, Seanrox too. There’s Yvonne, 300 woo!
ME has done it again. Marathon open mic night.
Marti couldn’t be here then. But she wrote this condensed spin.
Thanks from LA to Berlin. Liz is great, what a delight!

Thank you, Marti. This is wonderful! Read about Marti’s book and then buy it!

Thank’s Techz and Ram for your International visits too. You’ll get your turn when we do the Open Mic Weekend Marathon . . . 🙂

A weekend marathon?

Wouldn’t it be fun to find out?
I’d just have to think of a super topic!
