Today I’m celebrating official Blogtipping Day. How about you? As the song goes “Give a little bit . . .” Here’s how it works.

  • Choose three bloggers you admire and link to them.
  • List three reasons why you admire each one.
  • Then add a tip at the end.

That’s all there is to it.

Cat Morley

  • Designers who Blog is a testament to Cat who celebrates the great work of others.
  • Every time Cat visits here, she leaves wisdom and insights. She often leaves links to wonderful tools.
  • When a friend is in need, Cat is there with a hand, even if that friend is a friend of a friend. Cat is an amazing person.

Tip: Watch out for evil computers who want to thwart you.

Katiebird

  • Katie’s blog is like Katie welcoming, open, and other centered.
  • Talk to her once and you’ll know she’s the real deal — more than she ever shows in a glance.
  • When folks are at her blog or she is at theirs everyone seems to get taller, reading what she says.

Tip: Katie know your value. You make us worth more.

Rick Cockrum

  • Everytiime I read Rick’s blog I learn something I didn’t know about people and about myself.
  • He might have called his blog Shards of Consciousness, but his own awareness is vast, and his heart matches the size of the universe.
  • I feel lucky to know Rick and to read what he writes.

Tip: Rick, I can never get enough of you or your words.

Thanks to all three of you for making me more aware of how human the blogosphere can be.

Ode to Easton the Blogtipping Man (Part 4)

September 30, 2006 by Liz 12 Comments

Part 4 of 4

Easton was dressed in a nice clothes — not college-kid rags,
But his clothes were a cloud of Technorati tags.
His backpack was full of compliments for handing out freely,
He was a blogger, on a mad posting spree.

His words-how they tickled! His remarks, oh, how insightful!
He could devise a surprise that was truly delightful!
Blogtipping was a phenomena, an artist’s creation!
Throughout the blogdom, blogtipping was now an occasion.

Yet Easton, the Blogtipping Man, didn’t know,
That bloggtipping day, we wait for him to show.
We know he’ll come to leave that one comment,
To say that he saw it. We wait to see what he says!

He slides into the comment box leaving a word,
And next thing you know, only laughter is heard!
Easton says: “Good job. I guess, it’s all in the wrist,”
And you wonder, Where does that guy get lines like this?

Then he springs to his blog, to his fans gives that smile,
And he’s gone before you can say, “Come back in awhile.”
But I saw him post once in very tiny, fine print,
“I love blogs. I love blogging. I love bloggers!
(and I just made you squint)”

Three Optimists

blogtipping icon 1

Everyone has those people they know that are always up and making others feel positive about what’s going on. I know at least three that I count as special that I want to tip my blog to.

Here’s how it works.

  • Choose three or more bloggers you admire and link to them,
  • List three reasons why you admire each one.
  • Then add a tip at the end.

That’s all there is to it.

1. Starbucker I tip my blog to you because

  • You blog like you live — with verve and spirit, dancing through the ideas and over the keys. It makes visiting your blog a pleasure.
  • You posts are about real things and real ideas, but you don’t take yourself or them too seriously. There’s always that touch that says you know there are so many things that aren’t worth worrying too hard about.
  • You haven’t forgotten what fun is. You know how to play and how to be a friend.
  • My blog tip: Be careful driving in those mountains. Don’t be thinking of blog posts going around those hairpin turns.

    2. Mike Sansone I tip my blog to you because

  • Your blogging style is all about relationships. I always find myself staying longer and reading more than just a single post.
  • You’re such a warm, authentic presence. I feel better just listening to your point of view on business.
  • When you study an idea or subject, you never lose track of the human side of it. I feel proud to know you.
  • My blog tip: You seem to have so much going on. I can’t keep track of it all.

    3. Tom Vander WellI tip my blog to you because

  • You’re always celebrating someone else’s success.
  • You’re constantly curious about how you might make the world a better place.
  • It’s obvious that you listen actively to what your readers say. It shows in your comments.
  • My blog tip: Don’t forget to give one of those gold mugs to yourself.

Thanks to all three of you for making my blogging life a nicer place to be.

Each of these folks brings a special humanity to the blogosphere you can see that in the energy and insight of every word that they write. So today being Blogtipping Day, August 1, I tip my blog to them.

    Here’s how it works.

    • Choose three or more bloggers you admire and link to them,
    • List three reasons why you admire each one.
    • Then add a tip at the end.

That’s all there is to it.

  • You blog about ideas that people need to think about, yet you do it with heart and humanity that gives them depth and appeal.
  • You care about the community and leave your blog to seek it out. Then you share the ideas with your readers in wonderful ways.
  • You are one of the most supportive commenters I’ve read in the blogosphere. You’re specific and insightful, and you say what you mean.
  • My blog tip: Consider writing a post on Liz’s Blog :).

    2. Tammy at Marketing Basics

  • You have great way of incorporating what you read into dynamite blog posts.
  • Your writing voice is warm, delightful, and filled with energy.
  • Your comments always call me to action. They deserve a thoughtful response because you have taken the time to think about what you read and to thoughtfully comment.
  • My blog tip: Your comments are the best promotion for your blog. Use them often and liberally at new blogs every week.

    3. Robert at Accidental Taorist

  • Your twist on things is unique and special. Your thoughts and your humor are your brand.
  • You write better than you give yourself credit for or than you believe. Push the envelope a little and have fun with it.
  • You understand how to make a reader feel that there’s a real person behind the screen. I often feel like you live inside my computer.
  • My blog tip: I love your template, but I’d love it better if it worked in IE. 🙂

They Aren’t the Three Stooges Really

    blogtipping icon 1

They aren’t the Three Stooges really, but they sure did talk about them on one Tuesday Night comment night. By the time they were done, we knew more about the Three Stooges than I thought I ever would. So today being Blogtipping Day, July 1, I tip my blog to them.

    Here’s how it works.

    • Choose three or more bloggers you admire and link to them,
    • List three reasons why you admire each one.
    • Then add a tip at the end.

That’s all there is to it.

  • you blog with passion and research you’re saying.
  • you know the meaning of blogging community.
  • you fill the blogosphere with color and laughter even when you don’t bring along crayons.
  • My blog tip: Work on that stutter around that stupid W-word.

    2. Mr. Chris Cree of CREEations

  • you balance blogging and life in a beautiful blog symmetry.
  • you share your thoughts with power and gentleness.
  • you always share your Klondike bars and welcome new friends into the community.
  • Tip: Jack is not a good name for a code-writing donkey.

    3. Mr. Joe Hauckes of Working at Home on the Internet

  • you put yourself so fully into every detail of every thought you blog.
  • your new blog reflects your strength and commitment to what you’re doing.

Link Leak Virus Epidemic at Open Comments Night!

    June 7, 2006 by Liz 16 Comments

    Chicago Won’t Be the Same

The Chicago River is still recovering from last night’s Open Comments Night.
Once again, someone took on the challenge of live blogging the event. This week it was Mike Samsone of Converstations. Take a read of his post,

Whistle Stop – The Windy City Edition.

    UPDATE: So did Scot Herrick.

    Successful Blog Creates Community

    The Link Virus Epidemic

Link Leak Virus is a special strain of the indie virus with blogtipping mutations that occur in threes. On Open Comments Night the virus got out of control. Here are some cool links that were shared:

    Dr. Who’s ship
    The Creative Coast Blogs
    Chicago Bloggers
    Neave Planetarium
    Smoke and Mirrors
    NO SPEC Campaign
Use Bloglines to Find Interesting OPML Blogs by John Cox

Link Leak Virus Still Raging Today!

As you can see, I apparently brought home a strain of the virus. The links are still leaking to everyone who attended. Take a look at who’s ailing now. Oh it’s all my fault. All they did was participate and have fun. This is a cautionary tale of safe blogging.

Joe started the conversation talking about the mike in Chicago. Chris Cree brought the Klondike bars. Rod stopped by, even though it’s finals week, and Mike Samsone hung out while he waited for the next train.

Trisha wasn’t going to comment, but couldn’t resist the fun. Then along came Ben and his code-writing donkey. Cat stopped to say she couldn’t stay. Then found 200 comments in her email subscription.

Claire Tompkins gave us a lesson in taiko that was “hella fun.” Scot Herrick discussed drinking Merlot while reading about the business of beer. HART agreed that as a Canadian he really does know everyone.

Jamsi brought Liz some Australian wine.

    One small snippet:

    Chris Cree Says:

Oh, Geze Ben. Your donkey’s drooling again. Can ya tell him to behave around Trisha? She’s new here.

    Ben Says:
    June 6th, 2006 at 8:45 pm e
Damn donkey. Soon as I get on the keyboard he starts hovering over my shoulder asking inane questions.

Hi Trisha – pleased to meet you.

Joe – good luck with Darren tomorrow, I feel your Blogger pain. I’d be curious how you got that interview with Darren…

I never did find out whether The Teacher is into the Doctor.
