Every year on Memorial Day weekend my mom would put flowers on the graves of soldiers who had fought for us and were gone. Even when I was tiny, she would take me along to participate in this ritual, not that I understood what it was about. Never did she tell me about a single soldier only the story about soldiers fighting for freedom.
I’ve known people who have lived through war. I know people who have fought in them. I have heard true and personal stories of those who went to war and never came home.
At this moment I’m reminded of the flowers my mom would put on the soldiers’ graves, telling me “they fought for what we have now. The flowers say thank you and that we remember.”
None of the soldiers in the graves could see the flowers, but I could.
See the flowers and every other good free thing this weekend.
Remember the soldiers.
Value the freedom.
Be irresistible.

I’m proud of you. You inspire me. You’re a treasure.
Have you ever heard those words?
How nice it is to know that in some life you’ve been a treasure, a thing of beauty or inspiration. I never cease to wonder what prompts such a feeling, what someone saw in me. What does it mean to make another person proud?
Words like that influence me.
They change how I think, how I act, what I believe and what I do next.
They make me stop, think, and wonder what I did to earn them.
A powerful statement can change doubt into confidence.
When I get a response that says I’m valued, I’m influenced to do things that will earn that feeling again.
But …
Some folks think I’m brilliant and creative and other folks, well, think I’m … um … not.
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
And on that idea, I figured out something when I was looking at the the stars.
When stars die they leave behind space debris. Space debris is gorgeous colors and shines with its own bright light. The wispy, windy patterns and reflections energize filmy fibers in the endless space night.
What (hu)man named it trash?
It’s a treasure for the heart and the eyes.
People and stars are made of the same stuff.
The carbon that makes cell in our bodies came from the same stuff that makes stars.
It’s true about stars.
It’s true about people too.
Stars shine no matter who is looking.
No one has to call them a treasure.
They shine because that’s what stars do.
This week …
Be a treasure.
Start a quest. Create and conspire.
Be a mentor, a leader, a teacher. Inspire.
Be a beginner, a learner, an adventurer. Aspire.
Shine at being you.
Shine because being brilliant is what you do.
Do it because YOU have decided you’re living up to being a treasure.
Influence yourself.
Be irresistible.

If you are like the rest of the world then you must have encountered days when you feel depressed, dismal, and alone. Sometimes it’s easier to go through the life without even thinking about the challenges but the reality is that they are out there, and you will be facing one sooner than later. There may be things in your life that donât work out as expected and this leaves you with a feeling of glum and optimism. It is normal for someone to feel this way.
In my experience, having bouts of sadness during tough times has become a learning experience, providing me with wisdom and strength. Life can take you in different directions and the end game isnât always certain even when we feel that we are in control. The important thing to realize is that there is always a choice, to stand up and fight through another day instead of letting the adversities to pin you down and drowning in sorrow and despair.
So, how to overcome these challenges in life and stay resilient? For me, two things have helped me a great deal i.e. Exercising and Writing (AKA Blogging).
You might have heard of the expression âlife is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we respond to itâ. Itâs true that âhow we manage our livesâ can make a huge difference to our lives. It is how we perceive problems that dictate the outcome in the end. Avoiding the feeling of being victimized can help you overcome adversity and triumph against your problems, when you feel strong both mentally and physically you will be able to view your situation with a sense of power and confidence.
Working out to lose weight can help overcome negative feelings
Staying in shape or losing weight through training can help you become more agile and in control of your physical well-being. When you are out of shape you might end up with a lot of habits that can hinder your wellness and make you feel weak and helpless. By becoming active and engaging in active lifestyle, you can start to empower yourself and gain the resolution that you may have lost.
How blogging can help overcome negative feelings
You have to understand that even at a standstill, life continues to progress, and you have to treat your body and mind as such, even when you are facing hundreds of problems, youâve got to keep going. Writing can help take the edge off negative thoughts and creates an outlet for expression and problem solving. When you blog, you can let off some steam and help you gain a clear perspective of challenges that you may be facing.
Writing and exercise is a means of caring for your inner being. Exercise and fitness encourage you to become stronger in life by honing your physicality. When you start working out, you are actually making the decision to do something good for yourself and nurturing your spirit by improving your overall physical state. The same can be said when you express yourself through writing. Sharing your positive (or negative) thoughts with others and getting their response can inspire you to maintain a good outlook towards your life and seek the solutions that may have evaded you in the past.
Getting involved in positive activities like writing or exercising will result in a healthy mental paradigm. Taking responsibility of your physical and mental well-being is imperative, so that you can perform better in life and develop a sense of self that is empowered and understands your true worth. Regular exercise is not just a bid to stay fit; it is a step towards more control and empowerment in your life. These are the principles that you will see getting highlighted at diet or weight loss programs like Medifast and Nutrisystem.
When you are taking good care of your mind and body, and spending time taking care of your personal well-being you will notice that everything else in your life will start to fall into place.

I was walking on the beach and saw what to me looked like a butterfly. When I put the photo onto the computer I saw it could be a bow-tie. Nature is amazing. This pattern was made by a small sand bubbler crab who live in burrows in the sand. At low tide they scour the sand for food and these bubble patterns are the result of their foraging.

It may look like that I am trying to butter up Liz, but honestly, thatâs not the reason I am writing this post. I felt like writing on this topic yesterday; when I was doing some research for one of my clients that required surfing through the blogosphere. After some hours of surfing, I felt utterly and totally aghast by the amount of SE optimization and monetization going on at these blogs. There was an insane focus on the keywords, and some evidently desperate attempts at cashing in on each and every visitor who lands at the blog. The thing is, Iâve always preferred blogs over any other type of websites when it comes to reading, mainly because the quality of content, the variety, and most importantly the personal touch even if it is biased, but sadly, all of these characteristics are vanishing, and blogosphere is getting tainted by all sorts of malpractices.
Thankfully, there are some veteran bloggers like Liz who have managed to avoid being a part of this frenzy. Their blogs continue to educate and at times entertain the readers, instead of serving as bait for people searching at Google, to lure them into clicking on one of those ads.
Following are some reasons why I like Liz blog. Remember that I might be an average writer, but I am a hell of a reader, and if this blog has managed to make me come back and go through the posts every once in a while, there must be something right about this blog and its content. In other words, this post is not just a flatter; I am writing this while hoping that some other bloggers will also go through these points and opt to change their priorities.
Posts are not influenced and drenched with keywords:
One of the worst outcomes of bloggers getting aware of the SE optimization is the obsession with the keywords. I have seen reasonable bloggers turning their blog into a spam fest by trying to write posts targeting some keywords or key phrase. Thatâs certainly not the case with successful-blog, where the posts are not heavily infused with keywords. A big majority of posts were jotted down solely because the writers (Liz, in particular) felt like writing on the topic, and that is what a blogger should be doing.
Something to take home:
When the bloggers write on a topic thatâs close to their heart, chances are that the readers will be able to relate, and there will find many points to take home. A big majority of bloggers are writing on topics which are in demand, even if they donât know jack about it, or even when they have nothing to add. As a result, the readers canât help but feel dismayed after reading the posts, which are more like a hodgepodge.
Lessons for All and Sundry:
The blog doesnât cater to a particular niche, the lessons in most of these posts at successful-blog.com are meant for everybody, from students to Internet Marketers, and small business owners to social media experts. If you are looking to be more successful, and a little more productive, in almost any walk of life, you will surely find a lot of doable advice that actually works. The
No emphasis on Making Money:
How many popular blogs do you see nowadays with the posts having no ads whatsoever? I have seen many bloggers starting with a good intention, developing a thriving community and then losing the plot altogether, and deciding that helping out others is not enough. What follows is a drastic makeover, with the blog transforming from a helpful resource to a money-making machine. Itâs quite the opposite at successful-blog.com, so much that sometimes I feel that Liz is letting go some easy bucks by not monetizing it sufficiently well, but maybe thatâs the reason this Blog continues to stay unpolluted, serving as one of the very few resorts for a quality-content starved readers like me.
