Introducing Seb’s Random Thoughts

SOB Hall of Famer: Seb’s Random Thoughts

Sebastian Had a Major DIGG Article Yesterday

Seb's Random Thoughts

Sebastian Prooth, owner of Seb’s Random Thoughts and Podcast Periodical, is a student of media, and an avid blogger, writer, and technology enthusiast. He’s also a computer/tech geek with his 12+ years using MS Windows and the OS X system he uses daily next to his PC. Sebastian talks about technology, news, and just about anything that’s going on. This isn’t CNN or Technorati mirror; it’s more of a mirror of the author sharing with readers — from the head and from the heart.

Notes from Liz: Sebatians’s topics might be random, but his thinking on them is anything but. Seb is a deep thinker who brings sincere and insightful viewpoints to whatever electic topic he tackles. Whenever I stop in at Seb’s blog, I find myself leaving a comment because he has spurred me to think about what he has wrote and to respond with as much thought as he has invested. One read of his posts will surely show you what I mean. Click on his logo and see for yourself.

Go there and Digg Seb’s article on Skype. It’s almost 400 now.

The Show Is in the Comments

May 18, 2006 by Liz

Blogging Is Conversation

I’ve heard it said before that the internet has changed the world of news. That the news used to end when it was put into print, now that’s when the news begins. HART said it first, Half the show is inthe comments. Sometimes it’s more than half. Yesterday, 37signals published a small piece by guest poster Ryan Carson teaching bloggers how to use digg.com to market their articles.

The current 46 comments that follow discuss the pros and cons of self-promotion using digg.com and in some ways overpower the original article. It’s also a great demonstration of how a blogger deals with mixed reviews of a posting.

You can access the whole thing by clicking the title shot below.

37signals Small Biz 101: Digg

One truth about blogging is that you can never know for sure where a post might take you.

Thank Ryan for the well-written post that started a fine discussion — one that we should all think through from every angle.

Free Music Again?

March 3, 2006 by Liz

StationRipper Screenshot

Okay Music Fans

At 11:00 a.m.CST, this URL had over 1200 diggs. The digg.com description reads

Splits up internet radio songs to single MP3 files, naming by bandname and song name. Downloads album art. Can search for songs and bands that stations have been playing. Fast connections can get thousands of songs a day…

There are 82 comments if you want to check it out before you “buy.” In case you are unaware, downloading from the radio is still technically an infringement of copyright. I don’t do it.

I could find no music industry response to Stream Ripper. But I did find a PC World review of a Streamripper Plug-in for WinAmp.

I love music. It helps my productivity.

It will be interesting watch what happens here.
