Effective communication is everyone’s job—whether you are trying to sell in a concept or convince a client….

Thinking Visually

Levite Chronicles is a quick study.
For the past eight years, almost every month I’ve walked into a board meeting carrying a sheet with numbers on it. The numbers reflect the previous month’s income and expense.

slowly, but still, learning

Altitude Branding isn’t betting the farm.
We’ve a bit of this mindset that venturing into social media is an all-or-nothing proposition, or at least we have a tendency to sound that way sometimes. As if you must step forward, but never back.

It’s Okay to Backtrack

social media explorer is moving the web.
According to Engadget, some studies are predicting 100% mobile phone penetration in the United States within 4 years; at present, it’s estimated at around 84%. Some research indicates that as of 2008, as much as 3-10% of all web traffic comes from mobile devices.

The Mic Is On: We're Talking about Quotes and Song Lyrics

January 20, 2009 by Liz

It’s Like Open Mic Only Different

The Mic Is On

Here’s how it works.

It’s like any rambling conversation. Don’t try to read it all. Jump in whenever you get here. Just go to the end and start talking. EVERYONE is WELCOME.
The rules are simple — be nice.

There are always first timers and new things to talk about. It’s sort of half “Cheers” part “Friends” and part video game. You don’t know how much fun it is until you try it.

Where’s Robert Fulgrum When We Need Him?

  • or the Beatles
  • or Ghandi
  • or Mother Teresa
  • or Mark Twain
  • or you?

And, whatever else comes up, including THE EVER POPULAR, Basil the code-writing donkey . . . and flamenco dancing (because we always get off topic, anyway.)

Oh, and bring example links.

The Specials this Week are

CK’s Blog suggests that we ought to rethink how we think about thinking.
The greatest thinkers throughout history didn’t offer the same ideas. Nope. They offered different viewpoints.

Actually, great minds (don’t) think alike.

Buzz Bin suggests that we should be better by now.
Well, it’s a new year, and yes, we’re having many of the same old conversations here and other places. Realistically speaking, the repetition is necessary because a great deal of the market still needs to come up to speed on social media communications (Viva Pinata by peasap).

Ay Caramba! Social Media Is Not That Difficult!

Insights & Ingenuity suggests that we consider our standards.
The gist of the message was “I’m Satisfied with Mr. Carpet.” Mr. Carpet, presumably, is a retailer of floor coverings. The approach was a weak (an non-attributable) customer testimonial.

Is “Satisfied” Good Enough?

Social Media Explorer suggests that we take longer look before we ask folks to blog about us.
The simple fact of the matter is that, at least for now, there is no one tool, website or service that can help public relations professional identify blogs for their outreach.

How To Pick The Right Blogs For PR Outreach

Servant of Chaos suggests that we understand the meaning of trust.
Some of the questions that have been raised go directly to the heart of social media … what does it mean to be “connected”, where does responsibility overlap “connection” and what happens to our TRUST when money is involved?

A Lyrical UN-Interview with Greg Verdino …

January 14, 2009 by Liz

It Never Happened So It Can’t Stay in Las Vegas

Actually it didn’t happen anywhere.

Well, it did happen, that we were all in one place, but it didn’t happen, not as I’m going to write it. The un-interview occurred just a few feet from the highly-esteemed Joe Jaffe. The atmosphere was so heavy, I doubt anyone in the room heard singing or saw the flashing of the camera as the conversation, or actually the lack of it, commenced. This is an exclusive I bring to you.

I call it …

You’re So Greg

I walked into the party,
like I was walking into a screen.
My hair was strategically flipped
around my eyes,
My sweatshirt was golden brown.
I had one eye on the techies
as I watched them all convene
And all the boys dreamed
they’d be guitar hero
They’d be guitar hero but…

You’re so Greg.
You don’t need to say what you’re thinking
You’re so Greg.
I’ll bet you don’t need to say what you’re thinking.
Do you? Do you?

You read my tweets a few months ago,
when I could hardly believe
You said that you made a reach to SOB
And that you would never leave

You give away the looks we love
and you gave a few to me
I had some views, they flashed to my camera
Flashed to my camera, and …

You’re so Greg.
You don’t need to say what you’re thinking
You’re so Greg.
I’ll bet you don’t need to say what you’re thinking.
Do you? Do you?

Because the looks say everything.

Well it was something like that … next time maybe they’ll bring Jane Quigley with them.

Like I said, it never happened so it can’t stay in Vegas.
But if you want to know what they’re up to next … @gregverdino and @jaffejuice
