October 1 — Blogtipping Day! YEA!

Three Joys to Be Around

blogtipping icon 1

Certain folks just have that knack of lighting up a place when they get there. They’re comfortable with who they are and that makes everyone comfortable with them. Each of these three has that quality — on their own blog and away from it. That’s why I tip my blog to them.

Here’s how it works.

  • Choose three or more bloggers you admire and link to them,
  • List three reasons why you admire each one.
  • Then add a tip at the end.

That’s all there is to it.

1. Christine Kane
I tip my blog to you because

  • When I read your blog, I learn things about life, people, and both of us.
  • Your archives are a wealth of wisdom and learning to poke around in.
  • Your authenticity shows in every word you write.
  • My blog tip: Come to Chicago again so we can celebrate!

2. TechZ
I tip my blog to you because

  • Your writing voice is conversational and authoritative at the same time.
  • Your warm presence gives your blog it’s unique and welcoming personality.
  • Every statement you make to another person is supportive and positive. You’re a true relationship geek.
  • My blog tip: One day I want to earn my way out of the Blog Stuff category on your Blogroll. 😉

3. Ben Yoskovitz
I tip my blog to you because

  • All of your blogs are well-written, upbeat, and fun to read! Each reflects a different part of the guy we love.
  • You’re constantly coming up with exciting, new ideas. Every one catches our curiosity.
  • Working with you is a dream. More people should do it.
  • My blog tip: Put a big button under the Email Me sign on the Instigator Blog that says, “You need to Work with Me. Find out why Liz says so.”

Thanks to all three of you for making my blogging life a nicer place to be.

Ode to Easton the Blogtipping Man (Part 4)

September 30, 2006 by Liz

Part 4 of 4

Easton was dressed in a nice clothes — not college-kid rags,
But his clothes were a cloud of Technorati tags.
His backpack was full of compliments for handing out freely,
He was a blogger, on a mad posting spree.

His words-how they tickled! His remarks, oh, how insightful!
He could devise a surprise that was truly delightful!
Blogtipping was a phenomena, an artist’s creation!
Throughout the blogdom, blogtipping was now an occasion.

Yet Easton, the Blogtipping Man, didn’t know,
That bloggtipping day, we wait for him to show.
We know he’ll come to leave that one comment,
To say that he saw it. We wait to see what he says!

He slides into the comment box leaving a word,
And next thing you know, only laughter is heard!
Easton says: “Good job. I guess, it’s all in the wrist,”
And you wonder, Where does that guy get lines like this?

Then he springs to his blog, to his fans gives that smile,
And he’s gone before you can say, “Come back in awhile.”
But I saw him post once in very tiny, fine print,
“I love blogs. I love blogging. I love bloggers!
(and I just made you squint)”

Category Fun: Tom Bailey’s “Gotcha” . . .

September 9, 2006 by Liz

I've been thinking . . .

My day started laughing . . . not at a cartoon, about a real thing — something elegant and clever someone did — blogger’s “gotcha,” so to speak.

I’ve been “got.” 🙂

The other day I said, in passing, to Tom Bailey at Business Blog Hive that I would appreciate a link.

Tom’s no ordinary guy by any stretch. This morning he showed me what a link might look like.

The result is a blogger’s touché and a “gotcha” of the best, the most fun, and kindest sort. What’s cool about his response is that he found a way to make it NOT just between him and me. Tom wrote a post that is useful and entertaining for his readers at the same time as he got me.

[Picture: Kids and Liz as one of them, playing in the backyard. Space alien fight is going on. Liz puts hands to gut saying “Ugh, you got me,” and falls to the ground dramatically hit by a laser gun — a perfect shot has taken her out.]

Well, that’s the image I got reading it . . .

Excellent blogging. Tom Bailey likes what he does. Click the title to take a look.

Getting Started as a Successful and Outstanding Blogger

If you don’t know Tom Bailey at Business Blog Hive, he might appear All Work and No Humor and possibly a little too focused on this week’s Business Blog In The News. Don’t let that throw you! Despite the Newsy Theme, he does participate in Blogtipping and even tips SOBs!

Any friend of an SOB, well . . . I think Tom Bailey is worth checking out some. I did a lot of that this morning. He’s the real stuff, so is his blog.

I like this blog talk kind of interacting across our blogs. Let’s find ways to blog talk that other folks would never think of . .
.

PS. Tom Bailey . . . you’ve gotten this mischievous mind in gear now . . . I am the nice one, but I sure do like to have fun.

Successful-Blog OR Dancing in Sheba? . . . It’s All So Confusing

September 3, 2006 by Liz

Dear Lonny,

I got your trackbacks today. Oh, thank you so much. You were so generous. I’m not used to so many trackbacks. It was a little confusing at first, but I’m used to that. Confusion is a natural state for me. I’m a small-town girl.

Then I got to thinking about so many things. . .

Joe’s always talking about the time warp here at Successful-Blog. People often mistake me for someone else. Mixed-up links sometimes happen at Technorati, and there’s some current Internet “weirdnesses.” (What happens if net neutrality loses?) Heck, put them all together, and the whole thing makes sense. At least to me it does. It just took a while.

I wonder, is there a way to return trackbacks? I think you may have trackbacked the wrong person.
🙂

I think the person you meant to link is a few ages back and a few URLs over. Her name is the Queen of Sheba. Could that be it?

The title is what has me worried . . .

So You Wanna Be an SOB You Gotta Do the Dance

“Gotta Do the Dance” sounds more like the Queen of Sheba, . . . I’m betting she made people dance. whenever she wanted. They say she had an huge army (and hairy legs too.)

Dancing has always been optional at Successful-Blog. (Except for that once at 3 in the morning that we don’t talk about.) Folks can sit by the sidebar, sing all night, or dance ’til they drop. We once had a juggler. Mostly we swap links of weird pictures. I let the world turn without me telling it how to.

I’m just a saloonkeeper’s daughter.

People who hang out here are regular folks — except for the code-writing donkey and the moose who stops in now and then. Those two are special, but they don’t dance either — that I know of.

What I’m sayin’ is, if you wanna be an SOB . . . we don’t really dance much. I don’t want you to have the wrong idea. Well, Starbucker does, and Christine, and me — but that’s all I know of, at the moment.

Anyway, the Queen would probably agree that . . . .

the Successful and Outstanding Bloggers are the best standard for what an SOB should be now. The SOBs here are Successful and Outstanding People. (OK maybe the hairy-leg Queen has her own definition . . . I feel sure that Solomon would see things the way that I do.)

Phil has the best word for it — We’re all “Relationship Geeks.”

Aw, but then, you knew that . . .

Wait a minute. What was I thinking? You were just playing with me this whole time. Weren’t ya? 🙂

Like I said, confusion is a natural state for me.

Stop by the blog when you’re in this time warp. We’ve always got beverages and snacks in the sidebar, and pizza! Food’s free. Maybe you’ll hang out and talk a while. . . . get to know us. How about Tuesday at 7pm Chicago time?

PS. Hope you don’t mind the link post. I got confused trying to turn on your comments. See ya’ soon, I hope. Dancing is optional or did I say that? 🙂

Happy Blogtipping September 1 All Ready? Go!

Three Optimists

blogtipping icon 1

Everyone has those people they know that are always up and making others feel positive about what’s going on. I know at least three that I count as special that I want to tip my blog to.

Here’s how it works.

  • Choose three or more bloggers you admire and link to them,
  • List three reasons why you admire each one.
  • Then add a tip at the end.

That’s all there is to it.

1. Starbucker I tip my blog to you because

  • You blog like you live — with verve and spirit, dancing through the ideas and over the keys. It makes visiting your blog a pleasure.
  • You posts are about real things and real ideas, but you don’t take yourself or them too seriously. There’s always that touch that says you know there are so many things that aren’t worth worrying too hard about.
  • You haven’t forgotten what fun is. You know how to play and how to be a friend.
  • My blog tip: Be careful driving in those mountains. Don’t be thinking of blog posts going around those hairpin turns.

    2. Mike Sansone I tip my blog to you because

  • Your blogging style is all about relationships. I always find myself staying longer and reading more than just a single post.
  • You’re such a warm, authentic presence. I feel better just listening to your point of view on business.
  • When you study an idea or subject, you never lose track of the human side of it. I feel proud to know you.
  • My blog tip: You seem to have so much going on. I can’t keep track of it all.

    3. Tom Vander WellI tip my blog to you because

  • You’re always celebrating someone else’s success.
  • You’re constantly curious about how you might make the world a better place.
  • It’s obvious that you listen actively to what your readers say. It shows in your comments.
  • My blog tip: Don’t forget to give one of those gold mugs to yourself.

Thanks to all three of you for making my blogging life a nicer place to be.
